Reminds me of the first trout I caught as a teen on a similar colored fly on a lake in the Cascade mountains of Washington state, decades ago. Love the simplicity of this type of fly.
I've been using Yellow May parachute patterns for donkeys years, because contrary to many fishing books the trout where I fish love eating the Yellow May duns, and I've found that fished in the surface film they are far more effective than standard patterns. Having looked at a lot of the natural insect I like a tiny bit of fluro red seals fur mixed in with the thorax fur, a bit like that mixed for a Tups Indespensible. I look forward to trying your pattern Davie, thank you.
Hi Clark, It is a SLF Finesse dubbing, it came in a small cube with many other colours which I bought many years ago and the label with the colour was lost so I can't tell you the exact colour though a sulphur coloured dubbing will suit this fly...If I do come across the label I will get back to you..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie
Hi David, I would as it will help it float far longer, I will at times coat them at home before I go fishing as it will allow it to dry completely..It is a good pattern and certainly works for me.. All the very best Davie
Hi Patryk Niedzwiedz, The main bobbin that I use is the Tiemco Heavy duty Ceramic which is the one I have used since 1990 though I would say there's many good bobbin holders out there, it's just that I have got used to this one so I have no need to change it..I'm glad you enjoy the videos and thank you for the kind words.. All the very best Davie..

This pattern catches fish for sure, looks like our Sulphur here in the U.S.A.
Thanks for the great tie.
I hate when you say pretty simple Davy 😄 magic in them fingers. Beautiful tying.
"Its not a fancy fly. Its a fishing fly." That describes all my flies.

Yellow has aways been a brilliant top of the water colour mate , it's one of the first colours the trout see in their eyeline..👍
Excellent flee and demo!!! 👍
Will work on our rivers even on larger hooks. Thanks Davie
Beautiful pattern, although I disagree with the statement that it is a simple fishing fly, as everything you tie is a thing of beauty!
Superb fly Davie, I've fished the yellow Sally on the upper Clyde for years.
Stay
well. Big Davie
What was the orange thorax material? Another braw wee beastie Davie. Thanks for the tips. 👍👏🎣

Would you put floatant on this Davie or would the CDC and parachute hackle be buoyant enough without it ? I think this is a great looking fly.

Love learning from your videos, as a beginner it's very educational and entertaining! What bobbin are you using?
