- The best games for NEO-GEO, TOP 25. Making a top for Neo-Geo is always difficult since it has great games, but I tried not to repeat too many games from the same series, so that the list would have more variety.
The purpose of the TOP videos is for old-school gamers to look back and appreciate the influence of video games on their lives, with a purpose of high educational value and also as preservation of the video game.
Info Neo-Geo is the name of a 16-bit cartridge-based system for arcades as well as home video game consoles released in 1990 by the Japanese video game company SNK. The system's technology offered 2D graphics and sound quality far superior to that offered by other home systems of its time.

When I hear Neo-Geo, I would always smile and say that I am glad that I could get to play those games when I was younger and I could still play those as of today :)
If the home system was reasonably priced they woulda mopped the floor with Nintendo and Sega I think.

You had to save your pennies or be rich kid to even think of buying one. My wealthy neighbor had one. He would let us kids play it but he had mainly golf and sports games. In the local arcade I played Metal Slug while my friends liked their fighting games.

basically you can't go wrong with the NEO GEO library. Almost every game is fantastic.

I have a retro station with over 34k of retro games but still finding a new one to add to my library that's what I love about retro gaming ❤️ it is a endless cycle of nostalgia
Having played about that many games in my very long lifetime, you are better off with about 100 of the best games ever made and the real hardware for each for them.

Most of these, i have on my hacked Neo-Geo Mini. Windjammers, i have on the Switch, and Street Hoop i have on both the Neo-Geo Mini and the MyArcade Data East Arcade Classics tabletop cabinet.

Si dispones de un PC, aunque no sea de última hornada, siempre tendrás la opción de tirar de emulador (el NeoRAGEx 5.3, que es el que yo uso, ya vienen los 25 títulos de este Top entre los 192 juegos que trae).

I especially like how you represent the action platforners that are rare on this console. However I would had ranked Windjammers at 25 & Real Bout Fatal Fury Special at 24. And Metal Slug 3 is my personal all-time favorite but Garou is a gareat choice too! Fun fact: I was playing a port of Garou on my PS4 just last night. :)

Neo Geo has one of the best libraries in Arcade gaming.
The biggest reason for the end of production is "copying problems such as pirated editions and emulators".
So glad to see that my four favorite fighting games are all in the top 10 ^^

Street Smart was a pre Neo Geo SNK game.
Very decent port of Garou mark of the wolves on Nintendo switch for like £6 can’t go wrong comes with both Japanese and US versions as well as a time attack mode

Can't argue with Garou MOTW as #1, incredible game... otherwise my #2 would be Blazing Star but I seem to love that game more than most people. Great list though! and good variety.

my dream 4 changer cabinet is metal slug KOF 95, blazing star and neo turf masters.
Good games! Windjammers was so cool, they have a new version out but its no where near as good as the old, Love the neogeo, when I've finished building my Capcom Big Blue Arcade cab I will be making a Dedicated red NeoGeo cab which my MVS 6 slot will be in.

Good selection although I would swap in Sengoku 2 for Sengoku 3 and found a spot in the lower slots for Neo Driftout.
Oh and Twinkle Star Sprites has to be included somewhere.
EDIT 8 months later: Magician Lord and Last Resort are would have been very worthy pick up.
And maybe Art of Fighting 3 over 2.
In short Neo Geo is loaded with great games.

SNK vs Capcom Chaos should of been #1. Don't get me wrong, Garou mark of the wolves is a good game, a very good game but SNK vs Capcom chaos was better in every way. 2 fighting game staples that defined fighting games duke it out.

After playing the Samurai Showdown remake on xbox one and PS4 I can’t play the arcade version the only SNK game that NEO Geo thinks of releasing is king of fighters they released the 15th

Yes we do!! The Capcom vs SNK series was way more superior to the marvel vs Capcom series. I personally want to see another SNK vs Capcom chaos game, the one produced by SNK playmore. I loved the dark style they added to the game

La Neo Geo fue, sin lugar a dudas, la mejor videoconsola de su generación, con un hardware a la altura de su catálogo, todo conversiones de recreativas súper divertidas.
Lo más parecido, hoy en día, sería montarse algo con una APU potentilla, como el Ryzen 5800U (refrigerado con un Noctua de perfil bajo), 16 Gb DDR4 para no quedarse cortos (pero tampoco pasarse), un SSD nVME M.2 250Gb (para sistema operativo y emuladores), 8Tb en un Seagate IronWolf (para ROM´s e ISO´s a saco), todo montado sobre una placa mini-ITX, una fuente de marca medio decente de unos 200 W (vas sobrado, por lo que el ventilador apenas será necesario y evitas ruido) y, metido en una caja compacta y elegante para colocarla, como si de una consola se tratase, en el salón: ya tienes equipo para disfrutar de juegos de arcades más actuales (y, por supuesto, TODO lo que se te ocurra más "viejuno")..., si sacasen algo así, con licencia de juegos de recreativas basadas en hardware x86-64 y Windows (vamos, los que se ejecutan con TeknoParrot), podría tener cierto éxito de ventas...

God I hated it so much as a kid. It was so god damn expensive
y si tenes que repetir series , van 4 metal slug y 5 kof , lo unico que te falto fatal fury special , el ARF2 Y EL World Heroes Perfect , con todo respeto siempre me parecio un poco sobrevalorado el garou , en estos tops , es un juegazo pero esta por debajo de los clasicos .

I don't know why you consider 2 soccer & a golf game among the Top 25. You should have considered Waku Waku 7, Crossed Swords & Galaxy Fight.
