I just love a movie where a bunch of college students building a time machine at a local community college isn't even close to the most unrealistic thing that happens in the film!

The thing is, they didn't even think that even if they assassinate him, he's still gonna resurrect and ascend to heaven in front of the people, making their belief in god even more stronger. Instead of killing Christianity, they would instead give birth to it.

The director submitted this screenplay to a film festival I worked on a few years ago. After being rejected, he emailed the organizers telling them they were morons and threatened to shut them down for fraud. He's a misunderstood and unfairly maligned auteur, or in other words - an asshole.
Now I'm curious what happened to that director now since that movie become an obvious flop and probably lots of people laugh at the stupidity of the movie.
But like aren't assassins going back in time to kill Jesus still Jesus dying for our sins? Would that really stop christianity? Shouldn't they be going back in time to keep Jesus alive until he dies of old age?

I feel like this movie is saying Jesus wasn't the son of god. Because without him dying in that very specific way, our history changes forever. That or their god isn't omnipotent and omniscient. But why would the Muslim want Jesus dead anyway? He's still considered a prophet. It's like a Christian wanting to go back in time and kill Moses. If the villain's beef was just with how prevalent Christianity is then wouldn't killing someone like Constantine make more sense? I'm used to these movies doing no research when it comes to Atheism or Islam because they're Christians and thus already under the impression they got everything right first time, but surely they're at least willing to do research into their own history. Then again, they tend to get aspects of The Bible wrong as well. If they can't even bother to read their holy book given to them by god himself, why am I expecting them to do any research? I guess the biggest fool here is me.

i personally was a huge fan of battle star galactica and the whole story of the cylons discovering god through the divine intervention of human memories, or was it something else speaking to the machine codes and telling them of greater truths? who knows what, but they are still out there, flying around in their space ships looking to serve the greater good wherever they can find it etc

I suppose it’s a matter of propaganda. Having Jesus executed in a very obvious and public way makes the story much more public than if he just got shanked in the middle of nowhere

@@Kaefer1973 Yeah, as a religious studies major who had to learn after my graduation about Islam (aside from a speaker we had who I still have notes I took from his presentation), that part stuck out to me: this guy is not a Muslim in the faithful sense, he just hated Christianity and thought he could get "revenge" by killing him (forgetting that Jesus, you know, resurrected in the story).
And the guy who hated God seems to skew the whole theological notions beyond the problems that still exist even if God isn't making people do stuff, acting like they have no agency (that guy made the choice to drive with his family and the truck driver made the choice to drive as well, God didn't force them to do anything)
25:25 is a pretty clever reference to an obscure line from the Gospels. They made the protagonist the guy in Mark 14:51-52 "A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, he fled naked, leaving his garment behind." Nice attention to detail, moviemakers.

The look on disgust on the woman's face every time Ram would go to kiss her was absolutely hysterical. And the way he went to kiss her...was he trying to make it as terrible on her as possible?
So, that guy helps create time travel and instead of stopping his family from dying he wants to kill Jesus to stop christianity from existing.

But, even if killing JC wouldn't result in his resurrection, that wouldn't mean 'christianity' would stop existing. Many of the rituals and traditions of christianity were invented after Jesus' time, so it is possible that another religion would take over its place.

Hell even ignoring the obvious ignorance on what Muslims believe Jesus had been preaching for years, was near his death anyway and similar legends would have likely formed no matter how he died.
Going back in time and killing Constantine the Great before he became Emperor would have been the most effective way to kill christianity. Without becoming the state religion of Rome, it would have died off like all the other cults of the time.

I'm just throwing this out there, but if Ram went back in time and saved Brandt's family, he would have had no reason to join the movie's villains in the first place. This would mean he would not have been present when they were taken captive again at the end and thus could not have saved them. So... the bad guy wins, I guess?

Assassination 33 ad is actually a good parody in the sense that it has a couple of touching scenes (Simon's compassion on Jesus in spite of doubting his divinity, Brandt as the penitent thief.) The Judas Project is much goofier but at least the penitent thief (an assassin named Jackson) is in that film too.
The biggest twist of the film is when the security guards show up at the end. That must have been a loooooooooong campus patrol.

After eating the apple Brandt immediately puked and shat himself to death because the modern body isn't accustomed to the bacterias from 2000 years ago. He did ask for water, but it was taken from the same well people shat and pissed into. Brandt never made it past getting arrested.

If you look on the bottom there are only like 10 people for critics and audience, many of which were already part of the target demographic, its not like a blockbuster or indie where there are multiple positive and negative reviews. Imagine if KC Saving Christmas had only 15-20 reviews on both columns and most of the reviews were from Pureflix subscribers and fans.

So this just brings up a slew of questions for Christianity to reconcile.
If this was operating on the single timeline idea, then why didn't the main characters show up the first time through?
If this is operating on the tangent multiverse reasoning of time travel, and there being multiples of the same person in a single tangent, do they each have individual souls that can both go to heaven? Is heaven a place that exists across realities, and if so, do we look forward to seeing multiples of ourselves and everyone we ever knew when we reach the pearly gates? As the multiples seem to have vanished when everything was "set right", is it death, erasure, or assimilation? Or was it the powers of the multiverse pulling his corpse back to his original reality, if this was multiverse reasoning? And if that's also the case, didn't they just inevitably fuck up multiple timelines all for the sake of learning that maybe time travel isn't the way to fix your problems?

Wait, this movie is real?! I thought this was from a sketch show.
This movie feels like something some schlock studio with atheist writers came up with as a joke and then the script ended up in the hands of a Christian filmmaker and he took the entire thing seriously.
I just saw the trailer for this on Amazon prime thank God this review followed saved me like 6 bucks
