I enjoyed it up to the Hero's Journey. One way to REALLY lose your audience is to misunderstand the source material. I like the thrust of the presentation, but seriously, Dan, go back and actually watch Star Wars, Harry Potter and LOTR it would have given this presentation much more credibility, especially since George Lucas was directly influenced by Joseph Campbell.
I am a bit late to the game ... but I would be interested what exactly you criticize about his examples? Sure, Gimli is not a giant and Hermoine is not a princess. But from the role they are playing within the story it fits quite well together in my opinion.
super ! Dan has demonstrated clearly & experientially that visuals rock ! they are doable ! they work !

Life is just one big cosine wave.
Voldemort 's army was deatheaters not demontors.
Wah bhae Sadiqa, sahi pakray xD galadriel is not a princess neither is hermione
they wore masks
Hmm... His examples are quite a stretch. Gimli is not a “gentle giant.” Hermoine is no princess. Sauron didn’t have a disfigured face.
