People saying there is no one around I think thats because its misleading to call it a city, it’s more liken a huge campus for research into renewable energy. Even the students who live their. Their energy consumption is constantly monitored while they are at home etc
I think that a lot of people will live there in the next few years surely it’ll be pricey but it’s called a “city” for a reason. Also I don’t think that they’ve finished it yet so that’s why there’re only students and workers there currently
Oh come off it. Nothing he designed was livable by people. His aparent building look like they where built to store nuclear waste. He was ahead of is time with a failed concept.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352 They could irrigate them. The question is, does the city have enough water for that? If not, why did they not adequately plan a water supply for the city? They should be able to do desalination using solar energy.
Dense and Walkability: nice Transit: Tbh for the size of the "city" it seems sufficient, but its not scalable at all, it would be laughably inadequate for even a large town. But heck, better than most of the UAE, especially Dubai. Not defaulting to skyscrapers: nice UAE's use of essentially slave labour in near all construction: Yeh I dont have to explain that one. Weighting these evenly: 6/10 Weighting these appropriately: -∞/10
Yes there maybe, with a wealthy population who wish to look after the place, but can you imagine the place with some of the dregs that you find in most western city’s?
The video starts showing us a big square & only few trees. Where is the greenery? Glass, concrete and few trees and plants in pots - this is not an eco city. As for narrow streets and those electric cars - great. But glass buildings are magnifing the sunrays and reflect back the light producing warming effects.
Most the buildings are concrete with very few windows. And layered to produce shade. Not glass. Its all designed to reduse temperature. As for the lack of trees, all the streets are on the 1st floor. The transpor layer is beneith them, no earth. Ni where for rhenroots too go. Potted plants only.
And eco is about reducing waste off fuel, heat, cool, money , resourse or effort. Sustainable means materials that are either biodegradable or recyclable only. I doubt it's the latter. But it's owning the 1st.
Most of this is an eco efficency masterpiece. Not so sure on sustainable. Solar panels aren't even sustainable yet. Most the silver in them is lost after use. But I do like this concept and place. Just start ur city on the 3rd floor 😄👍
Looks so heavily regulated though. Always the way when tech leads culture. Corporate city in a desert. We've seen this played out in films and architecture but not for real. They've done exceptionally well to build this and it is a modern wonder, but this is not life. It's stale and too clean and without any sense of 'life' in the soul. This may well be the future then! But only for those that can afford it I imagaine. The future is not in cities. The city is a 20th Century phenomena.
Por enquanto a ideia aparenta ser para ricos, mas se amplia em conjunto por governos em enormes áreas delimitadas, também deixando grande natureza para plantar e dar frutos, parece uma solução até para acabar com a pobreza.
'Green nonsense'. It's ok to like cars and also care about the impact they and the world has on the planet you know. Maybe you're too old to care though. And this is barely green.
Ive Been Hearing About Masdar City Since 2013 When They Did The Bloomberg Special On It. And In 11 Years I Can Truly Say I've Seen No Major Difference Nor Progress. Its Seem As If There Still In the Same Phase As They Were I 2013😆.I Think Its Time To Admit This Project Didn't Meet There Goal. Its Still Impressive & Innovated. But Its Also Was Kind Of A Flop SMH

Literally !!! lol Ive Been Tracking It Since 2013 When They Did The Bloomberg Special. And It Looks Like They Haven't Progress 1 But SMH
sustainable urbanism followed here. wow , seems wow
Proud to be working in masdar city from 2 years, really good design and good landscape, big footpath, every thing is designed very well😊❤
To call it a city wouldn't there have to be some people? You don't need a whole city for the 3 or 4 i saw. A single house would do just fine.
because they are still building it, only students of the city & ppl who work there live rn
Le Corbusier's vision come to life. Nice !
Oh come off it. Nothing he designed was livable by people. His aparent building look like they where built to store nuclear waste. He was ahead of is time with a failed concept.
From where I’m sitting quinten, it looks scarey. We can’t even master hs2 on time and budget.
Abu Dhabi isn’t run by the U.K. government. They’ll probably do it in time and on budget.
@@callumhardy5098 quite right my friend, they’d definitely be faster and on budget.
Looks amazing. I only wish they plant more greens there. What temperature is on the streets of the city?
No rain. Trees can't sustain themselves without rain.

Our company plant about 1350 trees in two kilometer roads in masdar
Plus all the streets are on the 1st floor. Potted plants only.
This guy is unbelievable! A WEF member?

The Oil is what paid for it all 🤨
Pieces for the first car, were carried, by horse and cart.

আমার এখানে একটা বাড়ি লাগবে....
Quinten.
"6 part documentary".....
Sounds like a plan.
(Btw, I think we just saw a preview of the Robotaxi (2 forms)
i like the video, i'm speak spanish
Is that smog in the sky? Why do we never seen blue sky in these places? Looks like Hell to me.
Looks like that nightmare vision of Detroit's future with plans for Delta City as seen in 80's classic film Robocop!
😅

Amazing, 65 years old and not a grey hair in his head. I used to have such respect for Quentin, now with all the Green nonsense, not so much.

That's our problem. Too many idiots like you dismissing it as 'nonsense'.
