Nice to be here that is still amazing you can take that much material off of an auto part but only from the past not these new cars for sure, it is a great week, enjoy it Joe. Lance & Patrick.
Great video I did this to a model t removed magnets it was a lot of pounds machined off no clutch worry about model a crank and rods over head valves Frontnec head
It does indeed, Jim. It also affects the sound at idle. Some guys prefer the sound with the original heavy flywheel, while others prefer the quicker response.
Thanks, Doug. Between the chip guard on the mag base and cutting from the inside out, the vast majority goes in the pan. Still takes a while, but not as bad as it might be.
do you sell a machining blueprint of have a downloadable PDF? How much will be taken off the friction surface at the grinding shop? Is there a maximum cut? When removing the old pressure plate mounting flange why not just part it off then take a few finishing cuts?
Great job many thanks for sharing this information 😊👍
Beautiful !
Thank for the shout out, Joe. I have been enjoying your channel.
My pleasure, Steve. Thanks,
Enjoyed the second part as much as the first. Thanks Joe!

Yes...29 lbs off of most parts would result in no part at all. Good week so far...thanks, guys.
Man, you'd need a shovel, not a broom to clean up chips after that job! 30 pounds of shavings on one job! Looks awesome now, though.
Thanks, Everett. Your stickers came a couple of days ago.
Cool! Glad they got there in reasonable time. Hope the shoulder is healing well, you mentioned that this flywheel was before wing surgery.
I have my 6 week post-op checkup on March 12 and should get out of the sling then. Back on the machines soon after!!

Sounds like a pretty high tech Model T engine! My '22 speedster has a stock engine with no mods.
That is interesting something I never heard about. I bet that does make a difference in the feel of the engine

That was lots of cast iron, bet that was fun cleaning off the lathe. Nice job !

That's good. I figured you would have a serious mess to clean up after this job.
How about a shop tour joe
Larry, a tour is on the drawing board. I want to get a little organizing done before I do it.
Cast iron = chips and black dust...!!!!
Lots of it.... ;)
Pierre, these flywheels seem to turn without quite so much dust as most cast iron...but yes, lots of chips!!
I spent my professional machining career cutting automotive cast iron, you get used to it. It cut nice and grinds even better.
Wow Abomb sized cuts!
My lathe would love to be a Monarch when it grows up...but yes, it will cut a pretty good size chip.
