      @leoff7 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it comes to children it's way more complex than that. For us what you described is so much worse, but that's something abstract to small children, but their seeing the scene of Kuzco throwing a rock at someone's head got a lot of laughs from their family is enough for them to do the same later, and end up hurting someone pretty seriously.

    • @WT.....
      @WT..... 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@leoff7 Right... and like it's totally worse than say all the booby traps in Home Alone, which in case you weren't aware realistically violates a whole lot of laws as each trap could easily maim/kill a person in real life. LegalEagle made a basic legal breakdown of the film a few months back. The fact that Disney would rather host the film on their platform without any censorship or disclaimer warning goes to show their priorities. And before you lose you shit, yes I know it's a comedy & the stunts are fake, but I'm an adult, I know how dangerous the stunts are in real life, but can you say the same for a kid? For all they know, if it looks harmless in the movie, then it should be harmless in real life. Like how in the movie it shows that there's nothing wrong with setting off unsupervised firecrackers in-doors or how stepping on nails would only be painful (ignoring the likelihood of tetanus), and that hooking a car battery to a metal sink basin would shock a person, but not kill them to name but a small handful.

      Idk, if Disney is so family friendly, then why do they have anything over the PG rating (which in my view, is the highest rating one could go if we're talking about children)? Or the Simpsons?
      While the Simpsons aren't as suggestive as Family Guy, I think it still has things kids shouldn't see. I'm not into adult oriented cartoons, though, so correct me if I'm wrong.
      And sure, some Marvel and Star Wars movies may not be filled with blood and swearing, but seeing a lot of violence and/or limbs being chopped off could be disturbing for kids as well.
      Plus was Who Framed Roger Rabbit really intended to be "family friendly"? I never saw it, but I can tell that Betty Boop was definitely one of those seemingly "sexual" icons.

    DC and Marvel apparently agree about the name "Isis" being inappropriate. DC comics has had a character named Isis, based on the 70s Saturday TV show The Shazam!/Isis Hour, as part of the Black Adam family since 2006, and she will be appearing in the Black Adam movie . . . but not with that name.
    You can't blame them. If a superhero / antihero of middle eastern descent named Isis were introduced today, it would get memed, become a Fox News talking point, and the discussion about the name would drown out discussion of the character herself. Understandable, but still, it's a shame many adults either can't grasp the concept of unrelated things having the same name or choose to ignore it in favor of stirring up drama.

Also, the Disney Junior airing shows Lilo hiding in the dryer but cuts the scene where Nani traps her in the blanket and cuts to her opening it up. For a while, I thought the reason for it being cut was to avoid promoting child abuse.

    Okay the first few makes sense to be Censored or changed. At first sight I didn't understand why they had to deal with censoring gruncle Stan's fez symbol but when I looked into it I was like "I see so they're probably trying to avoid any reference to like religion or even any Reference to that group in particular." So it's kind of a nonsensical censor but it would make sense when you look deep into it

      Nothing should be censored. What's this North Korea. If I was the government, I would banned censorship

    ANOTHER edit on The Muppet Christmas Carol was the elimination of the terrific song, "When Love Is Gone". The Disney suits took out the song because "it made kids sad"!! You can still see it on old VHS/laser and selected blu-ray's.
    They also digitally removed all of the cigarettes and smoking from the Pecos Bill cartoon short, which now looks super weird and odd.

    At least Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Home Alone are not censored on Disney+.

    According to TV Tropes this list would be an example of "Bowdlerise."

    They censored the cartoon poop on Bluey, yet they kept Jonathan Groff's up close spit in Hamilton.

    This Chanel is so inconsistent…. Sometimes they will show the actual comparison. Other times they will show it but talk over it completely so we can’t actually hear the bit in question… other times they just won’t show the altered version!

    Removing the symbol from grunkle stans hat kinda annoys me because I know it plays an important role in the show because it fearures on bill ciphers wheel. If they were gonna mess with his hat at least replace it with another symbol so the shows overall mystery still makes sense to new viewers.

    Ironically the title of the book ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ is based on is called ‘Who Censored Roger Rabbit’.

    The only thing to make a lot of sense to me is the Santa clause and lilo and stitch. Cause they didn't realize the phone number was a legit number and curious kids always have a way of doing things. Like I remember when I was a kid, I think my next door neighbors kid made a false 911 call by accident. So things happen. And I can understand lilo and stitch because they wouldn't want kids playing or hiding in dryers. Idk why she chose a dryer in the first place lol.

    A great endorsement for piracy. Thanks! What isn't censored now, WILL be. There's a new sensitive snowflake born everyday that will find something to validate their victimhood status.

    Two of these instances of censorship have since been undone:
    1.) The symbol on Grunkle Stan’s fez is back after Gravity Falls fans gave enough of an outcry towards its removal.
    2.) Splash was restored to being uncensored when Disney upgraded their master of the movie to a new 4K restoration, apparently either forgetting or not caring to continue applying the edit they previously made to that film.
