    Great, I have inveted the same thing because I play standing up. Many players say playing standing up is mire natural, and actually is great, but the problem was the hi hat. So I had this Idea. And with my right foot I activate the kick drum and the hi hat...I am very glad someone else thinks the same way. All the best man!!!

      They have been around for 15 years now. If they were any good we would be seeing tons of them. We dont.The only place i do see them is when people try to flog them on reverb.

      I spend hours on this skill yet I haven't been able to get the feel the double pedals have on one foot instead I get a punkrock triplet swing that is dope but not the same feel. I applaud the engineering idea and cool to see someone being innovative in drumming

    • @jasonpowell8832
      @jasonpowell8832 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update. I can now get it 80 percent of the time on one foot. Lol

    I think this would be more useful with crash cymbals or even a china, to create quick crashes without manual choking.

    I dislike the extra few inches further away a hi hat stand needs to sit when next to a double pedal. I use a short cable hi hat so the hats are over my left foot pedal. I also use xhats and stacks for double pedal use. I have tried all the drop clutch products (yes all of them) and didnt like any.

      I also shared that dislike . I went to 2 bass drums . Took the legs off my high hat, or they sell them legless . I bought a mount that attaches my high hat to my bass drum rim that was very solid . Problem solved. Downside, now you're lugging around 2 bass drums .

    Or you could just buy an x hat or tama sells something which does with your feet

    • @MySandToes
      @MySandToes 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, you could buy an X hat but it won't do any of this since it doesn't have a pedal and is fixed (aside from turning both cymbals together to change the wash, perhaps you're not familiar with the product you're referring to.

    • @jackwilczynski6957
      @jackwilczynski6957 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MySandToes no, I'm well aware of what an x hat is. The reason hes doing this is to have the hi hat closed while doing double bass grooves correct, that can be avoided just by using an X Hat cant it. Also, tama sells a product which over time would do this same concept hes trying to do either this, just with some practice, and I can guarantee you for cheaper. Or do what Tomas Haake does and have 2 different hi hats, one opened and one closed. There are many ways to avoid this problem(in my opinion more of a nit pick)without going out of your way to buy/make this thing.

      Jack Wilczynski I think your negativity, detracts from the amazing options this product allows. Though you have offered a couple solutions, they require added cost, and more importantly, added hardware to clutter the kit. Your solutions are viable, but why spend the money on hardware, and the clutter, when you can get this gentleman’s solution, and alleviate the costs and clutter? This product can’t cost any more then another set of hat, clamps, hi hat stands, etc., being as 99.9% of serious, or recreational drummers, already have a set of HH’s and a HH stand.

    It's okay as a replacement for a drop-lock clutch if you don't want to use an x-hat, but only if you never do more with your left foot than what is shown in this video. The device makes hi-hat foot splashes more difficult to do, if not impossible. Also, if you want to be able to increase how tightly closed the hats are (a la Jojo Mayer), you probably would have to set the spring tension on the device to its maximum, if that's even enough, which would make playing the hats at a "normal" closed tightness difficult.
    It's also counterintuitive in that all our wrists and ankles normally move downward to produce sound, but now our left ankle has to move upward on the hi-hat to produce sound. But once the foot is moved to the kick pedal, it moves downward to produce sound. I don't know if the benefit provided is worth the effort, especially for jazz drummers or anyone else who does more advanced left foot hi-hat stuff.
    tl;dr For some drummers, there will be even worse compromises than those of a normal hi-hat.
