Wrote this a while back but applies to this subject:
At age 64 (2015) my Canadian friend who at that point had lived in China for 17 years convinced me to come see for myself how advanced China was in infrastructure, technology and morality compared to our country of Canada and any of the 5 eyes countries.
So I spent 6 months in SE Asia exploring with a Canadian friend who had lived there for 17 years.
The lies and propaganda just can't compete when you go see for yourself.
As a Westerner who believes all the propaganda do you ever wonder how come such an evil empire as China has not dropped bombs, not invaded, not sanctioned, does not Assassinate other countries officials and yet your country (so morally superior) why do you do all these things or at minimum support the US as they do all these things?
Do you ever ask yourself that? Do you ever wonder why America (land of the free) has more prisoners than any other country in the world?
Do you ever wonder how China pulled 850 million people out of poverty while America gave all it's wealth to the 1%.
Do you ever wonder why walking in downtown America at night is seriously risking your Life while walking in any major cities in China day or night is perfectly safe?
Do you ever wonder how China can give 1.4 billion people free education and reasonable regulated healthcare with the right to choose between traditional Chinese medicine or Western medicine, while in America most people can't afford health care?
Do you ever wonder why a single party country with 1.4 billion people have a government approval by survey of 90+% yet not a single 5 eyes countries or NATO countries can even achieve 50%.
Do you every wonder why elected politicians don't represent the people who elected them?
Do you ever wonder why a country that "we say" oppresses their population has 155 million citizens travel abroad and they all come home.
Lastly do you ever wonder how a country that has achieved so much has not had a single positive news article in the new York Times or the Wall Street journal or any of the major networks?
If you don't wonder about any of these things, then you probably think your not bombing Syria to steal their oil, your not sanctioning Venezuela to control their oil, your not sanctioning Huawei because they are more advanced.
You probably also believe Edward Snowden is a traitor rather than a hero, you probably think the war crimes Chelsea Manning revealed were justified and you probably think Americans are still the good guys.
Perhaps get a passport, go see the truth, redemption is still a possibility.

China in 35 years grew to an economy of 21 trillions & lifted 850 million out of poverty; and yet he is grading in his opinion because China is coloured.

If only US stops being the policeman of the world and caters for the needs of its citizens in areas of health, education, housing and infrastructures, there may peace in this world. China with its borders with Russia , Laos, Vietnam and India to name a few has co- existed with reasonable amount of peace before the arrival of the colonial masters . That peaceful co-existence evaporated into thin air with the colonialists policy of divide and rule strategy and till date there are many in a once colonised regions still being colonised in their minds.
I have faith in China as a peace maker as long as the US and the West stop stirring up the region in Asia.

The core issue is the hegemony of the US Dollar as being the international currency of trade and reserve.
A position it carved out by violating its pledge.

Would China behave differently in that position? Highly unlikely will be in that position due to closed capital account, no independent rule of law and a unwillingness to run a deficit

No negotiation of China 'security role' in SCS and ECS. Sounds like a green flag for China to behave like Russia's security role in Ukraine.

China does deploy its forces beyond its border in the Phillipines. And China supports Russia who deploys its forces across its border. Saying the territory is yours because it was one upon a time is truly revisionist. Pick a point in history and then say it was once ours so always ours!

China does not deploy its forces in the Philippines: the disputes are in the South China Sea where various islands and reefs are claimed by Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, China, Taiwan and Vietnam.
You may question why the Philippines only chose to dispute certain reefs with China, but not other reefs / islands claimed and occupied by other Asian countries?
And you may also question why you don’t hear any open disputes in territorial claims amongst other Asian countries?
      The answer: USA

@@hkoljsm USA supports her allies. Malaysia won't criticise China. The government has said as much. China isn't challenging Vietnam. I think an astute move on China's part so keeping that relationship together. No doubt that would change if America abandoned its allies in the region. The question is what west thinks of the issue. west says this is Phillipines EEZ and Chinese armed forces are deployed there. Therefore that is where WW3 would start. Defending Americ's friends and allies.

First you need read history when and who first made its claims. Then were the other countries existed then or independent o push their claims 2 or 3 decades ago but not before. Thirdly, UNCLOS was only enforced and signed in 1982 but not before other claim was made and went undisputed till the 1980s. So can a country claim their rights and ownership of something before they were born. Finally, most colonial powers still occupied territories thousand miles away from their origin countries and worst, starting to meddle into others' business with malicious motives. Nobody seems to question them. Does Might = Right?

There are other countries involved in island disputes in the region yet we only hear about the ones that China are involved in. Axe yourself why and see if you can figure out the reason.
