He went to same high school as tom brady and lynn swam( Serra). It is an expensive all boys catholic school that produces the finest of boys that turned into men, but not just for athletes. Bonds is talking about Serra h.s. and it hits home. San Mateo (Silicon Valley) is not a place with a lot of children. It has the most expensive zip code( Atherton).

I remember meeting Barry Bonds in the late 80’s when I was a kid, at the Melodyland Christian Center in CA. He was signing autographs that day, and my cousin and I got one. Nice guy, and a good day for us. Definitely deserves to be in the hall. Best offensive player ever. Had Griffey Jr not gotten hurt so much toward the end of his career, I think he’d have been right there with Barry in the GOAT conversation. Either way, my two favorite players period.

He’s a very misunderstood guy. I wasn’t a fan of the roid usage, but he didn’t start it or promote it. I hate he’s been the scapegoat of that era and baseball thinks it can wash its hands and think “that’s that”. No. He’s one of the best ever. I hate that Hank Aaron is the one that had to be negatively effected because he’s one of, if not the all time greatest. But so is Barry. And the media made him out to be such a jerk all these years. Well, when you’re blaming a guy and blasting flashbulbs in his face making him the fall guy, shit can get a little tense. Should be in Cooperstown.

Never really been a fan of Bonds personally, but there is no denying he is a HOF'er with or without PED's. He was hitting the ball out before he even started using so much so he was an MVP before he went to the Giants. What held him back like some other PED users is that he didn't come clean when confronted about his alleged steroid use. The way he was treating people in his personal life as well as team members and the media did not help the situation either. If he does not get in the HOF he has no one to blame but himself.

@@Quantum3691 Yep. He evidently felt bad about the way he was rubbing his own teammates and tried to be more of a cheerful “good guy in the clubhouse” type. His performance dropped and they actually told him to go back to being “all business”, even if he came off as a prick. They got it.
You see the same thing with golf. Everyone loved Arnold Palmer and the way he would interact with even the fans during a major tournament. Nick Faldo was known for being cold and distant with everyone on tour similar to Bonds. He said he tried to play a round like Palmer and be social ect., but he played terrible.

Barry Bonds was undoubtedly a Hall of Famer before PEDs. He just wasn’t on pace for 762. When you break down his pre-1999 career and get into season averages and all that, you’d see that he was on pace for around 660-680 career homers.

The reason Hall Of Fame voting is so frustrating to all of us I think regardless of the sport is that the fan consensus means so little. Every baseball fan I know nowadays wants Barry in the hall. Football went so far as to keep TO out for a few years because some voters didnt like his antics when anyone who watched him play knew if he wasnt a HOFer than nobody is. Let the fans who fuel the game have some say in the matter. Not some finite number of old dudes who bring extremely personal biases to their ballots

I wish Barry would do more interviews because he needs to tell his story because his refusal to talk to the press has allowed the press to create a negative narrative of himself. Also, a resemblance with the way he handles fame and being an introvert. I get the privacy, but u gotta know that if you play a professional sport, introvert or not, they're (the media/fans) are coming at you. It would of been cool if he was told (by his mentors) on how to handle fame....not an easy thing, cause u can't please everyone. Good Luck Barry and any pro player on that journey!
