- in 1999, Eminem claims that he went on the Sway and Tech show and spit the very first rhymes that he EVER wrote on a freestyle thats now famously known as "Greg". This freestyle is an underground one that pretty rare to come up on. And in 2012, Logic used one of the bars that says:
"No more said, case closed, end of discusion, we blowing up like spontaneous human combustion..." in his song called "Under Pressure"
However, after the internet picked it up, Logic, in a verified annotation of Genius, claimed the lines were definitely inspired by Eminem. Who do you think did it BETTER?

Tbf, although Jay Z is one of the best rappers to do it imo (Top 5 to be exact), I would say he used so many of Biggie’s lyrics that I can’t even consider it paying homage anymore. If he did so for probably his first 2 or 3 albums after Biggie passed then I can respect that as I would say it’s paying tribute. But he does it way too much when he’s already an excellent lyricist.

@@energizr2816 Oh most definitely, I even said he’s still Top 5 for me regardless, but even with lyrics such as that, he does get heavily lazy & don’t even try. And it’s not because he can’t rap anymore because he proved he still got it with 4:44, it’s just something else.

Logic always shows loves to anyone that inspires him. So when he uses lyrics off of other rappers lines. He just makes it into his own by saying it differently in a better flow. So it’s not “stealing” if he’s paying homage to the original creator

Logic is my favorite rapper. I think on raw talent he is one of the more skilled rappers out there and I think he has potential to be one of the greatest alive. Bro gets too much hate, especially considering that song (and album- under pressure) was truly remarkable

Look if you're in the music business, eventually someone will say some of you're words. Rock bands take riffs and technique all the time, except they embrace it and actually make an effort to better the community as a whole.

Its all about how you use it, and put your own spin on it. Its unbelievably hard to say anything that hasnt been said before, but i think Logic's use was fine. At worst, its just a reference to one of his favorite rappers.
The thing is when an artist fucks with another artist heavily, they expect everyone else to know that artists music as much as they do.. Logic wasn't stealing he just assumed people would've already known what that bar was from.
People need to understand that there is a finite number of words amd combinations of those words. There's gonna be some overlap.

It’s not even homage. It’s a sentence. A common saying. There’s not a lot of ways to even fit the topic of that without saying it exactly like that. Just try rhyming it but with a different sentence. Besides very small one word changes it’s not really possible. People are stretching it.
