I’m gonna go ahead and break this down. Talladega did a WONDERFUL job and they have improved a lot from their previous years. But their arrangements sometimes kill them. Dega may be louder than su, but su’s arrangements are just structured so much better. That I ain’t mad atcha shut dega down. In terms of sections, both tuba sections were nice but dega tubas got that RANGE. Su trumpets stomped on them boys easily, eupho wise dega euphos on special steroids lol. Su trombones are currently on another level. Mello wise, dega mellos was yamming the whole night but su mellos ain’t no hoes either. Sorry, but in my honest opinion, southern took the W but it was close.
You seriously think Degas Eupho section can see these boys? Man hell no. Go back and listen again sir. Both tpet sections full of horn holders if you ask me. The only section even in the Jukes category is the sousas.

All these bands nowadays have adopted SU’s style of playing. SU was ridiculed for years for “playing loud” and now that everyone has copied this style of playing, SU is overrated? You can tell a lot of y’all haven’t been following band long enough to know that SU’s identity is in a lot of these programs. You give some of these schools SU arrangements, and them kids couldn’t and wouldn’t be able to play them. If SU was to go to quantity over quality like some of these schools and have subpar arrangements, and just blew with no dynamics or articulation and sense of balance, then what would be said? SU for the win, its two different leagues!🤷🏾♂️

Tubas can't win u a battle just like trumpet sections if we tell bands turn up they trumpet sections like SU it wouldn't be fare SU have the total package including Tubas that's the problem with some bands it's always one section trying to stand out and seems to over power the whole band which makes a band be unbalance at time one thing I noticed to SU band always have difficult parts to play unlike other bands they don't so it's easy to straight blow loud with not to many dynamic intonation that's what separate SU from other bands not to mention the quality n sound from SU SU is the total package

Tubas can't win u a battle just like trumpet sections if we tell bands turn up they trumpet sections like SU it wouldn't be fare SU have the total package including Tubas that's the problem with some bands it's always one section trying to stand out and seems to over power the whole band which makes a band be unbalance at time one thing I noticed to SU band always have difficult parts to play unlike other bands they don't so it's easy to straight blow loud with not to many dynamic intonation that's what separate SU from other bands not to mention the quality n sound from SU SU is the total package

IMO, Dega need better arrangements and of course SU is SU but not of the old, Dega to improve your sound hit the track before and after practice.. SU for the W. Dega keep it up and have some better arrangements and you will surpass SU
