What I'm basically getting from all these reviews is just this game will be the until dawn of THIS generation. Like, anyone who never played until dawn will get the same experience from that game in this game..
I like how you say former WCW CHAMPION, but for those who hated that David Arquette was against winning it but since so many people hated on him I highly recommend watching You Can’t Kill David Arquette he actually wanted to clear his name in the world of professional wrestling so he went back and earned his name. So if you hate him for that go watch that documentary
The option to give the graphics an 80s Horror movie aesthetic combined with the option to equip everyone in an 80s style wardrome is just icing on the cake for me. I wish more Horror games did this.
I truly hope Quarry brings the feeling that Until Dawn brought. Supermassive Dark Picture Anthologies(DPA) series from what Ive played was sub par in almost every facet. Man of Medan felt like a knockoff company trying to replicate Until Dawn in an eighth of its time/budget leaving me with no reason to come back and replay. I replayed Until Dawn 6x I replayed Man of Medan .5x
i swear i played a different version of this game than everyone else... I absolutely loved Until Dawn, and the entire Dark Pictures Anthology but this game just completely flopped for me... The characters were so boring & 1-dimensional... The dialogue was extremely flat... The story was lackluster, and the music during cutscenes was just ABYSMAL... I had high hopes for this game, and maybe down the line after another playthrough my opinion will change.. but i just found myself feeling so bored throughout the majority of the game...
Same the Story was soo bland , the characters hardly had any personality . I didn't really care if they died . I'm glad I got this game for free at my Library.
Yes, this is a stand alone game from the Dark Pictures anthology. The season finale, the Devil in me, will likely come out in October. Season 2, consisting of 5 games (directive 8020, intercession, winterfold, the craven man, and O death) will come after that but its unknown in what order they'll be released. I heard that it was supposed to be 2 games a year (one at the start and one at the end) but supermassive games may have changed this.

I own and have played through all the games besides the Quarry. If there's one thing I've learned about these games is they are not worth $60-$70. Think of it as an interactive movie with limited outcomes then ask yourself is a movie worth $70? I always wait until they go on sale to buy and still end up feeling that I've been shorted. These games are worth maybe $20 and the repeatability is a hoax. There are a few different choices for each outcome. In the end the character either lives or dies. The events leading up to that point are slightly variable but not enough to make you want to replay the game to see what happens. And if you do decide to replay to see the other outcome you'll just end up disappointed. The Asian girl from sweet life of Zack and Cody looks tempting but I'm gonna wait for a sale.
Finally played this and it is right behind Until Dawn for me. The DPA games were decent but ultimately a bit of a letdown. I still need to finish House of Ashes and probably won't finish little hope. Now this on the other hand grabbed me and didn't let go. The quality of this game is insane especially the facial animations. The acting is far better here as well. Starting another playthrough soon.

These games take much money to make so they have to sell it for this price. Also yes it is a movie but you control the movie. there are many different endings which make it replayable.
I was so looking forward to this. Until dawn is absolutely amazing and I played it many times, even made friends play it so i could watch their reactions. So I pre-ordered this and...well..what a disappointment 😐 the qtes are either way too easy (indicating a direction using the analog stick) for which you have a looooong ass time for or dumb and not well explained (holding your breath and pressing x and somehow there's a breath indicator and danger indicator but neither will really help telling you when to release, which means you can still randomly have your characters killed). Thwn there's the absolutely disgustingly long and weird necks?? They looks like snake creatures I was so freaked out. Especially dylan??? The water looks like absolute shit as well and of course it lags at the most important times like when trying to focus and shoot someone. FRUSTRATING! they also act like complete idiots who get killed in the first 5 min of a horror movie, even after you make them do the right thing, they do the dumb thing a minute later without asking you. All in all I dont feel like got to know ANY of the characters well enough to care about them and (SPOILER) revealing the big bad after 2 chapters, dragging it 8 chapters to then just kill the thing while it's asleep???? just terrible writing and boring as hell. There's no plot twists at all, it's all so flat and anticlimactic. Even the old woman talking to you after each chapter...why was she there? What did she bring to the story? Absolutely incomparable to until dawns psychologist plot twist. She couldn't have been anyone it didn't make ANY difference. I usually neither write TH-cam comments nor do I rant about games, but this one just made me so sad and angry I don't even know what to do with myself. Save yourself some money and replay until dawn...
I dislike how being put in between two decisions doesn’t mean a lot. When you’re in the chase sequence after Nick gets attacked and you choose to climb the tree, it literally just takes you to the same scenario as if you were to not climb up the tree. It doesn’t make sense
Also I’m so annoyed that Kaitlyn literally gave Jacob the idea to steal the rotor arm from the car and then never bothers to think why the rotor arm is no longer there. Like, there’s no “oh hey Jacob has it let’s go look for him”, you just end up going to the scrap yard anyways to get an entirely new car

I didn't know this game, and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it's a great concept basically an interactive movie, wish they made more games like this. I also loved the mad dog mc cree games on cdi as a kid, now this is way more advanced but I like these types of games.
I more interest with horror games. I played some awesome horror games like :- The evil within , The evil within 2 , Kabus 22, The conjuring house , Silent hell, Dead Space 3 , Resident Evil all parts, Land of the Dead , and else and now I m waiting for eternal Evil game

Immersive? Distracting? And really, where would you say this ranks within the Supermassive library? We understand that it plays the same as Until Dawn, but overall, taking into account the characters, story, and scary scenarios, is it better? Worse? Until Dawn has scenes fans will talk about for a long time. Anything like that here? On a scale of Little Hope (meh) to House of Ashes (yea!), where does it fit?
I feel that your review isn't genuine, as I'm struggling to remember if you said one even slightly negative about the game. Lazy monster design almost completely just taken from the until dawn monster but slightly alter the head. And that one monster isnt even white fur.....let alone albino aside from when you see it has red eyes at the end
Am I only one who liked Dark Anthology Pictures games more than this one?? Except Man of Medan..... I mean they called it spiritual successor to UD but only some of the characters were likeable like Dylan, Laura, Travis and story is too messy with plot holes and don't get me started on QTEs. Don't even call them Quick Time Events, as they are not challenging at all. How are we supposed to fear for characters life when the hardest part which is QTE is child's play....
Played the demo this morning after having finished the awesome Dark Pictures Anthology - The Devil in Me (which was the best of this game series so far, and the next release this Directive 8020 will be even better because sci-fi horror is my favorite setting!). Looks like The Quarry will turn out as great horrorgame showcasing some ghosties on the lake combined with a hungry wolfman (or werewolf) setting. At least that is what I assume after having played the first scene and the demo. After having heard nothing from Supermassive Games they really bring it on now with their Dark Pictures Anthology and releasing even more games like this one in between :D awesome!!
So, about this whole "unlike the Dark Pictures anthology, this is a small setting, not one of many" Man of Medan all takes place on a ship, aside from what is basically a prologue episode on a smaller boat prior to arriving. Little Hope all takes place in a tinny little town. House of Ashes all takes place in the same system of caves/ruins. Not one multi-location, world-spanning thing like the video describes. It makes me wonder if this person has even actually played any of them. They're all small settings. This is nothing new. The only thing this game is missing to fit right into the anthology is the Curator character and the familiar collectibles. Otherwise, it fits right in.
I understand how this is like an interactive film. I get it. But am I gonna be exploring areas with characters, or actually fighting/running from enemy/enemies? Or is basically everything on the rails, and I just explore a room and find clues and move onto the next on rails and experience dumb QTEs??

Like dying because of a QTE instead of because of a decision/choice you made regarding a conversation (which I find fine) I just hate qtes lol
The dialogue in this game is god awful. I've seen artificial intelligence have more fluid and comprehensible conversations. I have no clue how anyone can enjoy this shit.

I was a bit dissapointed with this game, especially after they said that it was a "spiritual successor" to until dawn. Until dawn is better in almost every way, I'd argue the characters are better, the graphics are better, the voice acting is better and even the story is better. Not to mention the worst part of this game...the lighting. When you finally come face to face with the creature of the game you can barely take in the look of it and ruins the game.

The 80s skins aren't available until July 8th or so. Movie mode is alright but leaves out some key sequences.

Man of Medan all takes place on a ship, aside from what is basically a prologue episode on a smaller boat prior to arriving.
Little Hope all takes place in a tinny little town.
House of Ashes all takes place in the same system of caves/ruins.
Not one multi-location, world-spanning thing like the video describes. It makes me wonder if this person has even actually played any of them.
They're all small settings. This is nothing new. The only thing this game is missing to fit right into the anthology is the Curator character and the familiar collectibles. Otherwise, it fits right in.
This whole script was clunky. Not scary more of a thriller than a horror. Massive flop

What was wrong with the other characters such as Abigail?
I understand how this is like an interactive film. I get it. But am I gonna be exploring areas with characters, or actually fighting/running from enemy/enemies? Or is basically everything on the rails, and I just explore a room and find clues and move onto the next on rails and experience dumb QTEs??
You get to explore some areas find clues, of course it isnt a open world game

@@josejeronimo4409 oh okay. I was just wondering if practically everything player controlled was QTE based to move along the tracks of thr story (which I personally just find annoying).
Like dying because of a QTE instead of because of a decision/choice you made regarding a conversation (which I find fine)

@@TheMoistDonuts QTEs are super easy or you can make them harder. The only way I messed them up was moving the stick NE instead of E, stuff like that.

The dialogue in this game is god awful. I've seen artificial intelligence have more fluid and comprehensible conversations. I have no clue how anyone can enjoy this shit.

I was a bit dissapointed with this game, especially after they said that it was a "spiritual successor" to until dawn. Until dawn is better in almost every way, I'd argue the characters are better, the graphics are better, the voice acting is better and even the story is better. Not to mention the worst part of this game...the lighting. When you finally come face to face with the creature of the game you can barely take in the look of it and ruins the game.
