@ Friendly fire being off would be the opposite of immersive, if a Stego accidentally hits it's friend while swinging at a carnivore, it's friend is not gonna take less damage because they are friends it's still gonna be hit with the full force of an attack even if it was intended for the carnivore. Kissen’s comment about Austro and Beipi makes me think a little. Made me think in terms of, theres a good possibility that Austro will definetly be able to kill a beipi with bleed precaution. But when it comes with Omni, i believe it’s best strat will be to just stay away from them. But who knows, time will tell.
I got banned from their Discord for talking back to a discord mod, so it's nice to still have a way to see the updates lol. (The mod was pulling that classic "condescending ego" that those types tend to have, and I said some mean things in retaliation)
I think sometimes that neither Kissen or the community really "understands" the average player fixation for balance. Currently, the only fun thing to do in the game is fighting other players, survival is not fun, mere a mean to an end (which is having a 1.0 adult that can fight), which in turn, makes animals that aren't capable of fighting boring, and i know a little bit of this is subjective, because in general, people will always prefer the bigger and badder, but it's also undeniable that currently, survival in the isle doesn't has the mechanics nor the gameplay loop to make it interesting, and always someone obsessed with "balance" what i get from it is; "Kissen, if survival is the goal for half of the roster, when will it be fun?".
My experience in the game is heavily tied to community servers I play in (both capped above 200 player slots) and the way how I proceed to the actual gameplay, even though it also depends on the playable I am playing as, usually consists of me trying to survive as long as possible, even counting days on the server for example. Visiting areas, picking my fights or avoiding them, going actively solo or grouping depending on the situation. All those goals are my own, nothing set in game mechanics. Sometimes I am trying to find someone to nest, sometimes I am just enjoying the routes I am taking. Bit of a chill gameplay and then action again. Rinse and repeat - solo, grouping, hotspots, diet refills, nesting and fighting. As I said, depending on the playable, sometimes I am watching/observing others doing that or stalking and then hunting when situation is more in favor of my victory which is already sort of a different strategy than a regular PvP. The closest playable that has in built mechanic for this type of gameplay currently is probably dilo but even troodon can be used for variety of different playstyles, solo or in group. To each their own. My main point is that the game actually offers much more than just a regular PvP, it is up to the player what approach will they choose. For the question when will survival be more of a fun.. I would say that perhaps once there is some actual reward if you do things the right way? Not sure how but more of a micromanagement with some actual resources that can be obtained and used can work. Well balanced gameloop would be unlocking apex pass in a server for using in game currency (DNA points or whatever) that can be claimed by simply playing the game. The more of a "useless" dino you play, the bigger the reward but it will always be a reward no matter what you play and that can be a nice introduction of apexes for official servers imo.
no they wont, but if they dont hurry the f up someone will simply make a better game with a better engine and graphics trampling the isle if it keeps lingering in development hell forever

thats so good to hear, like most of the problems with pack hunters come from teammates being uncareful or just bad/new to the game
