My favorite golfer of my generation. I was fortunate enough to get a picture taken with him at the BC Open and years later he signed it when Davis love won at wing foot. 😎thanks Fred for always making it fun to watch you play
I will never forget going with my Dad to Westchester in the early 90's when Fred was at his best, and seeing the look on his face when Fred launched one on a par-5.
I walked in the gallery with Fred's group in Memphis, TN back in the mid 80's. I think Payne Stewart was in that group as well. But I was amazed at how Fred could curve the golf ball at will and how solid he hit the ball. His shots were just amazing and I'll never forget that experience. I still have the tournament booklet with his autograph in it along with several others. A true humble and gifted player.
Awesome, great ambassador for the game. How can you dislike this guy!? I didn't know about his back story so that was very interesting to hear. Fred Couples = legend
Who's cutting onions around here??? Freddy is the coolest of the cool! I don't think there's been a more beautiful swing in the game of golf ever. Poetry in motion!
classy,..charismatic..handsome and glides with ease as he strolls the course...my favorite golfer...the first and only Boom Boom as far as i am concerned..
The Masters is the best major. Because after you win you get to come back every year. So we get Freddie coming back and nearly winning the thing still every other year.
How a guy can stand over a ball, stay flat footed with his hands behind his head at the top, and then (even in slow motion) get through a ball so fast you can't see a thing...hits it so far, so effortlessly, shrugs, goes to find it and does it again, and again even now on the Champions Tour. He's awesome to watch. Freddie is one of the greats of the game. "Wow".
Freddie was the first professional swing I saw up close. It was at Colonial in ‘95 on the 2nd hole. Here’s the play by play: FC - “Where’s the wind?” Caddie (Joe) “It’s off the left side” FC - Swish! The most relaxed yet blinding fast swing through the ball. Absolutely stunning. Great video. 👍👍
Dear Lord, I love that man. So cool, calm, collected, classy, nice guy and a swing that is smoother than silk. The epitome of a gentleman golfer. Freddy, if you read any of these comments, you might realize what a positive impact you have made on so many people who love golf and love you. Thank you for being you, it has been our joy and pleasure to watch your wonderful career unfold over these many years. God bless you, Mr Freddy Couples.
I’m 70 years old and I’ve had 3 favorite golfers in my lifetime, the first Tom Weiskopf not sure why except he was 6’3” and so was I and he was married to Miss Ohio and I was married to a beautiful girl at that time .The second was Fred Couples because he was so COOL .The girls loved him and the guys wanted to be him, that syrupy swing we tried to copy and of course we couldn’t. I wish he had had a little Fred.If interested my third was Phil Mickleson for several reasons and I still pull for him but I’m afraid he’s near the end of his golfing career.Im wondering who the next will be. Maybe Fowler
My favourite Freddy quote was when he was asked why he never answers the phone and he said, "I don't answer because somebody might want to talk to me."
All of those who think he shouldn’t be in the HOF, you’re entitled to your opinion. That being said, he probably brought more people to golf than most of his contemporary. That absolutely counts.
I’ll never forget watching Fred in practice rounds in Augusta and he and Joe would be about 40 feet apart and Fred would hurl the golf ball at him (with zip on it) for Joe to clean. Joe would one hand catch then clean it and underhand it back to Fred. Never seen a player “fast ball” a golf ball to his caddy!
Big thumbs up to a guy you just want to see succeed. That said,. I don't know what the hell some of the golfers he mentioned as important to him found more important things to do that evening, but shame on them for not being there and honoring someone who has meant so much to the game.
I know that same opportunity...getting $5 from my dad to play the county course near my house...$3.50 to play after 3pm...and play until dark at 830pm during the summer time....
Great guy, beautiful swing and temperament, but not a pga hof. 15 wins and the masters isn’t enough! He should go down in the skins game hof where he made his great living! Just sayin
@C. Buck Hyres The Players is one of the toughest tournaments to win and maybe the toughest because of the field of players. So I feel that you are absolutely right on that.
Fred is the best of the best, he invented golf. He invented birdies and eagles and hole in one's and also gap wedges. He also invented golf carts. The best, number 1 in the entire 🌎!!! That speaks volumes. And Fred also invented pizza and spaghetti with fish tacos. So yeah, he's a BIG deal. He's the main event. He's the Big Boss!! Mr. Green Jacket. Fred is fast as a Lynx. But also smooth like a vokey bv. Fred Couples is rite up there with God, The Pricness, and The King. Fred invented golf tees, golf flags, golf shoes, and top golf. He also has hand built driving ranges with fun targets to fire at. Fred invented the Augusta, and he help plant the magnolias, up magnolia lane. Fred also stop 2 bank robbers by hitting them from 300 yards away with a pitching wedge. Fred also saved me money on car insurance by switching to geico. Fred taught Chuck Norris how to be a bad mammer jammer and hitting shot with the Hammer x.
My favorite golfer of my generation. I was fortunate enough to get a picture taken with him at the BC Open and years later he signed it when Davis love won at wing foot. 😎thanks Fred for always making it fun to watch you play
Can't give this as many 👍 as it deserves!

I've seen Fred play twice. The sound his irons make is distinct, as well as the ball struck.
I've always loved Freddy, and didn't know he and Vance were that close... it's awesome!
Freddy belongs there. I was there when he won the Masters in 1992. Such a famous smooth golf swing! What a master!
Freddy is amazing! Great speech. Almost cried with him.
The guy we all wish we could be with the golf swing we all wish we had.
Awesome, great ambassador for the game. How can you dislike this guy!? I didn't know about his back story so that was very interesting to hear. Fred Couples = legend
i want to hug this man
Highlight of my life was meeting Fred at the age of 10. What a great man and the Hall of Fame is where he belongs
Freddie is awesome. So glad I grew up in his era and watched him his entire career.
Me too I model my self and my game after him
to have your college roommate...Jim Nance in the same room when you win the Masters....calling the telecast ...SPECIAL.
Over, and over and never get tried just puts a smile on my face.
Who's cutting onions around here??? Freddy is the coolest of the cool! I don't think there's been a more beautiful swing in the game of golf ever. Poetry in motion!
Congratulations Freddy and thanks for the years of great golf and great Shell Houston Open memories 1996-1999 !
Freddy is absolutely awesome!
Love Fred Couples, a credit to the game 😊
classy,..charismatic..handsome and glides with ease as he strolls the course...my favorite golfer...the first and only Boom Boom as far as i am concerned..
He may not be a knighted "Sir" but he sure acts like one . Respect Mr Couples. Congratz !
Had the amazing opportunity to play with Fred in the Pro-Am at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Championship one year. Golf life highlight.
Love Fred Couples. I'm a bit surprised at all the golfers he mentioned he's been close to that didn't show up.
Freddy!!! Love this guy. Well deserved Freddy.
The Masters is the best major. Because after you win you get to come back every year.
So we get Freddie coming back and nearly winning the thing still every other year.
Great speech. Legend!
It surprises me to no end when in an interview with a couple of of Fred's golf's college teammates, that he was the quiet and timid tag along.
One of the greatest
No way

Not only that, he has a big heart of helping and paying it forward. Simple , yet very well principled man!!
Such a smooth swing.
Loved Fred Couples a personal favorite of mine.
Boom Boom will always be my favorite.

To be a cool guy you have to be an emotional guy as well. And Fred has them both in spades. What a dude.
he was a natural
All of those who think he shouldn’t be in the HOF, you’re entitled to your opinion. That being said, he probably brought more people to golf than most of his contemporary. That absolutely counts.
What a special person......
I'm predicting Phil will be one of the best captains upcoming for presidents or Ryder cups
pure elegance

I've seen him play golf. Everything was smooth and dead on the screws. When he was on, no one could play with him.
I know that same opportunity...getting $5 from my dad to play the county course near my house...$3.50 to play after 3pm...and play until dark at 830pm during the summer time....
Well done freddie
crazy they were roommates in college lol
Why was Nance on video with that speech instead of delivering it live? Was he sick?
Cool cat.
Davis love, would be 9 years later a ryder cup champion
Boom Boom!
9:29 push fart?
Get dictionary ... Lookup "class act" ... see picture of Fred Couples.
Fred should run for office.
You can skip the first 6 minutes of Nantz doing storymode. You are welcome.
His brother and sister act like they hate it there
Fred calls Phil a nutbag and Phil answers with runnerup at the Masters. The only nutbag was Freds' first wife.

It was the AM.

Great guy, beautiful swing and temperament, but not a pga hof. 15 wins and the masters isn’t enough! He should go down in the skins game hof where he made his great living! Just sayin
1979
Poor fred he always is so naive about these money chasing hos
His niceness and charisma got him in, not his accomplishments, sorry 1 Major, I think 15 wins on Tour, nice guy,but very overrated.
@C. Buck Hyres The Players is one of the toughest tournaments to win and maybe the toughest because of the field of players. So I feel that you are absolutely right on that.
Talkin some shit there man.
Easiest HOF to enter in sport PGA.
LPGA is the toughest
You need minimum 30 tour victories and one major to enter.
You’re just jealous.
Should not be in the hall of fame. Big fan however. 15 wins and 1 major
U are correct!
Couples has no business being in the HOF...as a visitor, yes...that's about it...
Oh for fuck's sake. It's the Hall of FAME. Not many more famous modern day golfers than Fred. It wouldn't be right if he wasn't in it.
For gods sakes man. Really??
Fred is the best of the best, he invented golf. He invented birdies and eagles and hole in one's and also gap wedges. He also invented golf carts. The best, number 1 in the entire 🌎!!! U are correct !
