This is my favorite kind of video. You are a teacher. I suggest to make videos that you enjoy making, when you feel like making them. Taking care of fish is pressure enough. I LOVE seeing your natural tanks. My tanks are VERY natural and the fish play and are happy. Thanks, Nick, for sharing your aquatic life with us!! USA

Another Aussie here. I don't have a single tank but I enjoy watching others with their fish and aquascapes. The property market is crazy, as you say, it must be so frustrating to need more space as you obviously do, I can see you are patient and prepared to wait but I really get how good it would be to own your own place. No landlords...bliss. Thanks for sharing your projects and info. From an old cat lady in NSW.

Re: new facilities, what is the market like in Australia for single use shipping containers? Here in the US, they can frequently be had for a very reasonable amount, even for insulted ones. Though rare and more expensive, some even have integrated HVAC.
Could you find a more affordable, undeveloped lot/parcel, pour an appropriate sized foundation, and creat a shop using multiple shipping containers? Either temporary until you choose to construct a larger custom building, or embrace the containers as a system, and add additional units to create modular/scaleable future expansion?
There is a company I read about recently doing a similar concept to create urban, modular hydroponic gardening facilities. Each container is modified, from the manufacturer, such that each container is able connect one to the next. Basically giant legos, same as they are on the ships.
The standard size used here for most construction projects is a 40FT High Cube container, which is 40’ L by 9.5’ H by 8’ W (12.1M L by 3M H by 2.4M W). A lot of folks start with just two, side by side, as the basis for new construction then expand out from that.
Whether or not local codes permit their use in your locality could be of concern. Here it can definitely be hit or miss. Often times commercial facilities have a slightly lower bar than residential, and the reuse of the containers is becoming more accepted. Maybe the same is happening there?
    Just a thought. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

I absolutely love your videos! Glad you’re sticking to what you like to do instead of what you feel like you should do with the vlogs. The painted tanks are very nice. Maybe keep trying a mixture of both as different fish will compliment the different colors you’ve selected. They both have their benefits. TY for producing and sharing so much information. That’s a lot of work, money, and time spent on all your equipment and stock but it’s really paying off when you see the results you’re having. Keep trying new things constantly like you are when you get frustrated. The water temps and flows were spot on for getting the Cory’s ready to spawn. I always love to see what innovative ways and ideas each person comes up with spawning their fish. I love the basket idea to let the eggs fall through to the bottom. I know you’re already working in tight quarters and spaces but adding a 3 tier roll around cart to go up and down the aisles for either carrying supplies while cleaning or to help when transferring over new fry from the styrofoam containers. Not only can you move them while the containers are still full of water without losing the bottom of your breeding box, but you can also move them into the light to see if your new fry are thriving or check on eggs. It also makes it easier when you can get them your breeding stock closer when transferring them to and from their perspective tanks into the spawning containers. Just an idea to think about and you may already have one off camera. In the states IKEA sells them. Most of the big box food or catering stores have them, or even a hobby story like Michaels, JoAnns, or even Amazon may have them as well to get them shipped to you cheaper. Also possibly look for a used one already in your area that’s cheaper because you’re not looking for anything pretty just something that functions well since it’s going to get water on it and ruined basically anyway over time. More or less you’re purchasing it for it’s purpose it will serve. I always give you a 👍 to help with your YT account and TY for making great content! Good luck on the new home and bigger fish room! Hoping something comes available soon for you! I would NOT want to move all that however! What a length and stressful job that will be.. cheers!

Love the videos!!! Lol I need more room so badly. KFS you really got me Thinking about starting a channel on my fish room. Iv made a 10ft x 10ft shed outside. Insulation. AC/heater for winter and summer. And it’s crazy how many tanks Iv got in there. I built it for under 3k and it’s been about a year an half going strong. easily made 10x that back just selling fish Iv breed to local pet stores. People think you gotta have giant space and lots of room for a fish room but you don’t. It helps but you don’t need it. If I can fit like 35 tanks onto a 10ft x 10ft area so can other people and you’ve got me wanting to share it I just don’t know yet where’d Iv even start. But love the updates and can’t wait to see where your business takes you!

Interesting about the black rams- melanistic mutations have been linked to increased aggression in some animals (eg. black squirrels vs gray squirrels), but reduced aggression in others (eg. black self lab rats vs agouti lab rats). Melanin is not just a skin pigment, it's also used in neurological processes. I've read that behaviour changes having to do with increased melanin has something to do with the role of melanin in the brain.

My electric blue rams once laid eggs and the fries hatched. The parent fish were protecting the fries and guarding them as usual. But within a week or so only one fry survived. I still wonder what could be the reason. My uncle told me that sometimes the parents themselves eat their fries.
