Purely my opinions, I love the look and aesthetic of this bike. I'm building a 2019 Madone SLR, mostly because that frame was cheap (cheaper anyway) and this frame isn't cheap or available as a frameset from what I could see. I also wouldn't do Rival eTap AXS though, I'm Red eTap AXS all the way. I don't like the semi-wireless mess that is Dura-Ace.
Hi Chris, the 2019 Madone SLR is still a lovely looking frame and will no dought be an incredibly fast bike when it's built. The new 2023 Gen 7 Madone SLR frameset is now available in all sizes. With it's 800 series OCLV carbon and new Iso-Flow frame minus the traditional Iso Speed, the new frame now only weighs 1050g in size 56cm and the fork is 418g. Good luck with your build, Mike
Really nice bike, wish could afford it, but cant. I recently bought the trek emonda 5sl for 3,000 euros. Surely mine at that price is atleast mid range even though it is the cheapest carbon trek?
@@BigBearBikes i went for the new grey sl5 emonda. Though the wheels are a bit heavy , do u think the paradigm sl that come with it are still good enough for md to get good strava kom on climbs? Cant afford wheels now just bought the bike
Hi Jeff, a great point well made, thank you. All Trek bike frames and complete bikes are designed to take larger riders. For the new Madone, Trek state this - This bike has a maximum total weight limit (combined weight of bicycle, rider and cargo) of 125 kg (275 lb). Hope this helps, thanks David.
Do you think that the rim brake version of the Madone SLR 6 is a faster bike than this, due to the rim brake version being more aero without the rotors/disc calipers/wider rim/wider tire/wider dropouts/wider fork?
Hi, we would always prefer the disc braked bike for its extra safety in all weathers, and it better handling and cornering from the adaptations made for the disc brakes, compared to the small increases in weight and aero drag. Thanks David.
Is the rim brake bike more aero - yes, a little bit. Is it faster in real world mixed conditions - no. Is it a better all round road bike, in our opinion, no. Hope this makes our thoughts clear, as life tends to be grey, not black & white 👍.
Hi, and thanks for the comment. You are right, but looks can be deceptive, as Giulio Ciccone is the 2023 Tour de France King of the Mountains, riding his Lidl Trek Team Madone SLR. racing.trekbikes.com/stories/lidl-trek-men/giulio-ciccone-tour-de-france-king-of-the-mountains-polka-dot-jersey-bike#:~:text=Giulio%20Ciccone%20is%20the%202023%20Tour%20de%20France%20King%20of%20the%20Mountains
@@BigBearBikes I heard that the Madone got lighter recent.y. I was going to buy it 2 years ago but I was after a light bike. I hear that the trek is good now. I am still undecided about Aero bikes. I am not a racer but everyone wants one
@@AethosPallisades We don't think you need to be a racer, but if you enjoy fast road riding - 18mph plus, you will love the feel of this bike, as you can really feel the benefit. Enjoy your cycling - David/BBB.

great review! that guy knows his stuff!
Many thanks for the feedback, much appreciated 👍.
7:06 Yeah I remember Cavendish‘s carbon wheel ‘flexing’ and returning to its original shape. Impressive tech.
It's great how the technology moves on so much 👍

Your Emonda SL5 is a great bike and a really popular choice with both our customers and our team! What colour did you go for?

pro riders 130 to 150 pounds. weekend warriors 200 pounds you think the seat post will hold up under stress

Who cares. They have a lifetime warranty. I've used it twice

You didn't answer the question!@@BigBearBikes
No.
So you're saying that the addition of rotors, disc calipers, wider dropouts, wider fork, wider rim, and wider hubs increase aerodynamics. Got it.
