I keep coming back. I watched BSG in summer 2008. There Glass made an impression of me, a transcendental one. Since then I learned the piano, managed to play these all, and more. Composed songs.. But Battlestar and Kara, they will always be in me.
This scene. You can virtually feel the temporary relief from stress, fatigue, and body aches with this music playing, once they both sit and lean back. Starbucks reflects on life. Helo just patiently listens. Starbuck lays back and props up legs, then Helo follows by leaning back and doing the same. Finally a rest in all the madness.
its been 10 years since i completed the series. but year after year i come back and watch this particular scene with a cigar in my hand. the vibes are transcending
The last episodes of season 1 and the first couple episodes of season 2 were the high-water mark of BSG for sure. There was so much going on, and the parallel stories were tied together so well. I haven't encountered anything quite so captivating again since then; not even Game Of Thrones can touch that.
So supposedly this version of the Metamorphosis One is played by McCreary himself. It is written in the "Frak You!: The Ultimate Unauthorized Guide to Battlestar Galactica", page 109.
Galactica was at its best when it kept things simple and let it breathe, like here. Later they overcomplicated everything and it went from near-arthouse at times (in the best sense) to shoot-'em-up melodrama. There are so many fine moments later on, too, of course, but I wish they had kept the beautiful harsh directness. Plot and insecurity kept crowding out this assured vision.
Be happy that it came out a lot better than Lost. All the mystery and drama of first series could have had no outcome at worst. Be happy for what we ve got. :)
With the musik and some things, there is also another way to look it BSG. It´s nominally the far past, but the other way is that its actually the far future. Both fit equally well. Which is very well fitting with the theme of the circular shape of events in this universe.
They never even tried obscuring the fact that they used this set for pretty much every apartement room scene in the show. Compare this to Boomer's loft in Downloaded or Leoben's loft on New Caprica. It's the same thing.
Have you ever been to England by any chance? Where 90% of housing is built on the same blueprints? Or Eastern Europe where all novostroika apartment buildings are LITERALLY the same? Not similar but the same. You visit one in say... Latvia, then go to Poland - enter one which is exactly the same, then go to Russia - exactly the same. The only difference is wallpaper and furniture..

This is without a doubt one of the great scenes in TV history, and one of my favorites in the "reboot" version of BSG.

I love GoT but you can’t even put them in the same realm. BSG made Sci fi tv relevant again.

Leoben designed the apartment/cell on New Caprica after Kara's. Sharon's is different, and might be the same one used by Baltar actually.
