We live way north of you in Montreal Quebec. Thirty-five years ago, juncos would hang around for about 3 weeks in the late fall and only eat seeds that fell to the ground. This would repeat on their way north in the spring, only a couple of weeks. Now, 3 decades later, juncos hang around till late January and eat directly from the feeders. In the spring they still only hang around for about 2 weeks. i love these juncos because watching their behaviour change is fascinating

Climate change is affecting bird nesting, migration timing and winter ranges. We are seeing its affect on many species.

Can you talk about Female Cardinals molting.

The funny molts we see this time of year are generally the young birds but adult birds can have some unusually molt patterns as well.

Just placed an order from your great store. Was getting low on some seeds from the summer. Restocking for the fall. Also finally installed the poles and 2 new squirrel baffles and so far so good.

Awe. I love the finches. Up here in Maine I've got house finches, purple finches and American gold finches. Their sweet song always brings a smile to my face.

Nothing like a good snow to bring them into the feeders

Can birdseed go bad if left out for an extended period of time?

    • @MarksBackyardBirds

The rule of thumb is never leave seed in a feeder longer than a month and never longer than 3 month is in storage (unrefrigerated).
