Very interesting sounding song, to me it sounds 80s or early 90s, but it could very well be early-mid 00s when that type of rock sound was popular again and revitalised (bands like The Hives and Franz Ferdinand). Also, sick bassline!

Vocalist sounds south English to me. Can't tell east or west but I would side east due to it sounding similar to my own (but not the same). Pronunciation of 'again' (a schwa/short 'e' sound at the end), 'zebra' and even 'faster' being skewed to a longer 'a' sound. A bit odd as the lyrics are quite American: 'passing lane' for example.
Sounds like Gang of Four. I don't think it's them, though, because I just Googled some of the lyrics. My hypothesis is this is a demo by some British (or maybe Australian?) band from the '80s/'90s that, sadly, never got a record deal.
When was this video originally uploaded (by the original uploader)? That may help us to narrow down the search. Sounds like either 2000s or 2010s maybe, but cannot be sure since the upload date of this video is in 2020 and I'm sure the song can't've been released in that year.

It seems like a few beats in the beginning of the song were cut off. Luckily, I have my own recording of the original full upload of the song that I recorded onto a cassette. (For context, I’m trying to make a mixtape of lostwave songs. This song is the second song on Side B.) It might not help much in the search for the origin of this song (like, it’s literally a second of audio that’s missing), but I’ll be more than happy to upload a rip of my recording if it’ll help in the search.

Sounds like something you would hear in GTA 1 & 2.
@Sash Lilac It's just a thought I had. It's probably not apart of their soundtracks, but it does sound like it.
