there's a reason why WEVES (ONEWE fans) are always crying no matter what song they release. it's how they make songs from their experience and how they deliver it so genuinely beautiful. there's an inside joke in the fandom that the water and rain that was used in Rain To Be came from our tears. i swear all their songs and their lyrics hits directly to your heart

No song skip album
Almost all of ONEWE's songs are based on each of the members' experiences. Yonghoon wrote Reminisce About All thinking about the hardships he went through in the past and hoped that people who would listen to it would be able to find comfort in the lyrics. Yonghoon said when he presented it to their company, he sang it in front of a mirror as if he was comforting a younger version of himself. Trauma (Aquarium) actually isn't the first b-side you've heard from them. 0&4 is also a b-side but they made an MV for it, along with Ring on my Ears and Reminisce About All. Basically, they made three music videos for their debut single album ^^ Love what you said about getting their emotions across in the song, it's one of the things that I love about them, especially Yonghoon. They know exactly what kind of emotion the song needs and evoke so many nuances in their singing.
I didn't particularly enjoy On the Ground but I was able to appreciate it as a song with this arrangement! Gaho's tone is really unique and KAVE's sound is really cool.
OH LORD THOSE VOCALS in Still Love You, I can't believe this is my first time seeing this! Thank you Steyn for this request, my ears are blessed. ㅠㅠ I casually listen to FT Island and I've always liked how Lee Hongki's voice has so much soul. He and Hweseung sounded amazing together.
From the two songs I've heard from DICKPUNKS, their sound is very funky? I need to listen more from them. Really love their single, Addicted to TV.

No matter how much i listen him, Hweeseungs voice is still makes me shock. His voice is so powerful and his voice tone is just so beautiful. I personally think he has one of the strongest and unique voices in kpop. U should definitely check his performances in the show called immortal songs. Hongki is one of the most respected vocalists there!! To the level that people thought he would overshadow hweseung when they started to collaborate but hweseung is talented too, so people started to acknowledge him from here. U should try to search short clips of hongki singing live, he's INSANE, and he have always been like that since debut XD
I think with "Still Love You" Hongki wanted to show off Hweseung. We all know what Hongki can pull off but he loves Hweseung's voice so much that I feel like he was pushing for that moment for Hweseung.

Lee Hongki honestly one of the best vocalist in SK. He's my favourite after Hweseung also I'm a fan of FTIsland before get into N.Flying. You definitely should check out FTIsland especially the live performance. Btw, its FTIsland > CNBLUE > N.Flying > Honeyst(Disband)

Ahh, Hongki. This guy could sing everything and sound great. Please check out his solo stuff as well or his band songs FT.Island. He's one of the best korean male voices imo ♥ Did you know he had a duet with Moonbyul on Heizes "You,Clouds and rain"? It's perfect and he sounds perfect. And Moonbyul too!
NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR THE COMMENT YOU MADE ABOUT GAHO'S COVER! Rose's original is a great song to begin with for sure but the cover!!!! The cover just GIVES more life. It hits so much more than the original and I swear I listened to the cover wayyyy more than the original. That goes for his other Blackpink cover as well

One of ONEWE's amazing point is their lyrics. Not only that they always write it beautifully, they often add some clever puns/wordplay that I can't really explain because I'm not Korean speaker, but whenever I see someone explain it, it always blows my mind. I agree 100% with what you say about TRAUMA being that it's very real and very specific to Cya but also have the leeway that allows listener to interpret it however they want. I think that's what makes them really relatable and precious to fans :""
Funfact about TRAUMA (AQUARIUM): the title used to be only Aquarium, so when Cya sent the guide version to the other members, they expected a soft / cheery / bright song about fish or something but then they listened to THIS and promptly ascended to heaven x'DD

I really agree with what you said about ONEWE and ballads and their lyrics. I think that's why ballads from ONEWE and just kbands hit in general. they really know how to deliver genuine ballads or slower songs in the right ways that suit their style. and it makes such a difference because it sucks you in and takes your breath away
I'm so glad you got to Gaho!! he is an INCREDIBLE soloist and he really sounds that good live. I actually thought he was still solo but working with KAVE as a collective, but apparently him and KAVE did debut last year in August?? (on the 6th which is my birthday lmao) but in general, Gaho is very well known for his vocals, and I hope eventually someone requests his original songs for you because you will absolutely be blown away, there's no one else like him. you mentioned how raw and emotional his tone his, and that's just his skill and quality across all his work and you won't be disappointed. oh also! he used to be a part of a hip hop/r&b collective called PLT (Planetarium Records) and their songs are also amazing
also I love watching people react to Hweseung's (pronunciation: Hweh-seung lol) high note in Still Love You, it never gets old realizing that he AIN'T DONE haha. he can actually do that sitting down just casually with the N.Flying members, there's a short clip on YT somewhere and he just nails it. he's so talented and the crazy thing is he's only just going to keep getting better and better!

This was great! The first two groups I had never heard of, even by name. The last group, Dickpunks, I believe I have one of their songs in my playlist. I can't remember the name of the song off hand but I believe it was from the "Cinderella and the Four Knights" ost. So , I thing I will have to make note of their names and check out more from each of them.
The third song, Still Love You, is a big favorite of mine and your reaction to it made my day. Other than BTS most other Korean or Asian singers and/or groups I discovered through K-dramas, T-dramas, J-dramas or C-dramas. Seo InGuk, Shin WonHo, Lee HongGi, Jung YongHwa and Jiro Wang are all singers I knew of as actors first. While watching videos of Lee HongGi and Jung YongHwa in the K-drama " You're Beautiful" on TH-cam, the music video "Still Love You" came up as recommended. I knew Jung YongHwa was in a group called CN Blue and I knew Lee HongGi was a singer but didn't know he was associated with any group. After watching, "Still Love You", not only did I learn that Lee HongGi was in group called F.T. Island. I also discovered that the singer in the video that performed that incredible high note was in a group called N.Flying. Then I found out that all three groups; F.T. Island, N.Flying and CN Blue were all from the same company FNC Entertainment. For a short time after that, I was obsessed with all three groups and became a fan of all three groups.
Gaho's covers always amaze me so much omggg!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed his cover of "Ong the Ground" 😄 You should definitely check more of his other covers and original songs out too!
I clicked on this video hoping you did FTIsland, they are one of, if not, the first kpop group with the band concept, and were literally an experiment from their company to see how an actual band would do in the kpop industry…luckily it worked out because Hongki is one of the best Korean vocalists in any genre, the company then repeated the formula afterwards creating other groups like CNBlue and N.Flying…I’m glad you know of at least Hongki, be I feel like with the preference you have in music that they would be more up your alley…especially their songs Pray and Where Is The Truth which are more hard hitting
If you want a powerful ballad from FTIsland you should listen to "Wind." If you want some of their powerful live songs I'd check out "Take Me Now" and "What You Want" from their concert (FTISLAND - FNC Kingdom 2017 FNC - MIDNIGHT CIRCUS). And check out Hongki chilling with NFlying while their performing a FTIsland melody (FTISLAND Arena Tour 2018 -PLANET BONDS-」オープニングアクトN.FlyingによるFTISLANDカバーアレンジメドレー).
Also, super excited for Gaho! Wasn't expecting that reaction but I'm so glad! You really should check out his other stuff as he is so brilliant!
Lucy band it's really good k-band, group composed of 4 members and they have an instrument that changes everything but that is beautiful, their songs are "Flowering", "Snooze", "Jogging ", " Hero " , "I Get U" and more.

@@KpopPrince Hweseung (N.Flying) is so consistently good in every live performance and when he sings you immediately know it’s him. So outta all the band vocalists he’s probably my bias along with Sungjin (day6) who has the kinda raspy vocals I really love. Tbh though. Kbands just in general have really damn strong vocalists. And also really _interesting sounding_ vocalists. When Jae is singing you immediately know its him. When Sammy is singing you can’t not recognize his voice. They’re all so different from each other and yet they’re all so good. (talking kpop realm here, but there are so so many amazing kindie bands too (So Se Neon, SURL, Lacuna, 92914, ADOY, HYUKOH etc.))
Dickpunks are also a group that came out when kbands were not popular at ALL. So im really happy you did a reaction to a so called "older" sound because Dickpunks released some real great music and have been together since high school

I was so excited to watch all of this, but couldn't get to the second clip without rewatching the Reminisce About All portion first. Hard to move on from that one. Loved your commentary on its risk as a debut song and the qualities of their vocals!

Ok here we go!!! Long comment incoming to answer your questions lol. I did think it wasn't going to totally be your style of song, but I figured since it's summer it'd be fun for a listen, so I'm glad you enjoyed it! They knew exactly what they were saying when they decided on a group name. One of the members said they were young and a bit wild when they came up with it and now they're stuck with it lol. I own their first official album and their logo is um...interesting...you should look up the album cover for Viva Primavera.
They're still active! Their most recent MV was 6 months ago I think? I actually still need to watch it b/c I am majorly behind on a lot of Kpop. Maybe that MV will end up in a request later on. They performed on Immortal Songs last year as well! I'd say their discography is more pop or alternative-rock/jazzy than, yes, one would expect with a name like Dickpunks. But they've got the emo feels songs too! My favorite one of those is actually going to be my July request! Thank you for checking them out I enjoyed your reaction!
I already had a long comment on my request so I figured I'd do another on the other reactions lol. I forgot you hadn't reacted to Reminisce About All so I'm happy you were able to get to it! I watched the bts for Rain to Be and yeah, Cya was so scared of the water I felt so bad for him, but he pulled it off amazingly well, obviously. And omg, Gaho is PHENOMENAL. He was further down on my list of future requests but eventually he would've made it on there. His falsetto and the way he slips between his low and high registers is just jaw-dropping. You didn't disappoint for your reaction to HweSeung's high note run, I love watching reactions just to see people's faces at that part lol. FT Island was on my Top 5 groups list for a looooooong time. They're the first ever K-band I got into so they were going to come on future requests as well. They've changed a lot over the years since they debuted in 2007. Anyways I'mma stop here 'cause this one is getting long too lol.

I agree that releasing Reminisce About All was a very gutsy move for their debut. They probably could have gotten more attention by releasing something more upbeat. but I appreciate that Onewe always stays true to themselves. They never hide their inner colors.
Trauma (Aquarium) is one of my favorite songs by them. It's such an angsty banger! I feel like that and Rain to Be would make a great beginning for a "storm" playlist.
I also agree that Gaho's cover is better than the original. That's nothing on Rosé, but her song is very basic pop. And Gaho has a lot more freedom in what he does as a solo artist.
Hongki is an insane vocalist with his very unique rasp. He's the front man and singer of FTIsland, which is sort of like the og Kpop/rock band. They have some insanely great songs.
Never heard of Dickpunks before, but for their name alone they deserve some kind of award.

DickPunks are legends. The pianist, Hyunwoo, is a beast. He wanted a piano based sound with no guitarist, and that has always made them similar to the Ben Folds Five in my opinion.
Now that you've reached a few years back to DickPunks, you have older bands like Nell and Peppertones. There's also classic Korean rock and metal. Bands have a strong history in Korea, but they just haven't been the same kind of export product like Kpop is.

Lee Honggi is Hweeseung senior. You should check his band FT.ISLAND they have this metal-rock-ballad sound. And it showcased his amazing voice perfectly. You should check "Take Me Now" or "Pray"

For FNC band debuts, it did go FTISLAND, then CNBLUE, then N.FLYING! FTISLAND debuted in May of 2007, so actually just recently had their 14th anniversary!
Honestly, FTISLAND were the first group/band in kpop that I ulted after getting into kpop around 11 years ago and Lee Hongki was one of my first biases because I'm such a sucker for good vocals lmao My ults list has definitely changed/moved around, or like. became tiered as I've gotten further and further into kpop, so while one of my current ults is E'LAST who I've requested from you, FTISLAND still hold that place in my heart they did back when I first discovered them and I would be THRILLED to get you into them if I get the chance. I don't want to like, cancel my plans to try and get you to check out VeriVery so it might have to wait unless someone else wants to do it for me, but MAN, I think you'd be really into them.
It took FNC a really long time to really let FTISLAND make the kind of music they wanted to make with the release of their 5th Korean studio album, I Will, in 2015 which introduced a much more hard rock/metal style that I was absolutely THRILLED to hear on a Korean release. They had made some harder/heavier songs on their Japanese releases and their earlier Korean stuff is still amazing, but everything from 2015 onwards I think you'd be really into.
Hongki's voice is INCREDIBLE. He has one of the most unique voices in Korean music, IMO. He opens his mouth and you can tell it's him from the first note. His husky rasp definitely helps, but you can tell when he sings, he's FEELING it. He's just able to get the emotion across both in body language, facial expression, and pure sound and it's one of the things that made me fall for him and FTISLAND back in the day, and he's still one of my absolute favorite vocalists.
One of my friends on discord actually got me to into N.FLYING relatively recently which also subsequently "revived" my love for FTISLAND and I went on a SPIRAL just watching old live performances and videos and listening to all of their music again for two whole days and I miss them so much lmao
You'd think because I've been into FTISLAND for so long that I'd have also gotten into CNBLUE and N.FLYING as well, but I was very stubborn and there was a lot of drama regarding how FTISLAND was treated and how FNC had a clear preference for CNBLUE so I've never personally gotten over that. But better late than never with N.FLYING, because I LOVE N.FLYING now and guess who's my current bias in N.FLYING???? Hweseung LMAO
