    One morning I was making the bed while my husband was in the room getting dressed. It suddenly dawned on my dim brain that there's no reason my husband shouldn't also be making the bed! He sleeps in it every night after all. It's not exactly a learned skill to make it. Takes less than 30 seconds to pull up the sheets and fluff the pillows! I didn't make a big fuss I just asked him for help. He did and has every morning since.

    My mom was not a "let the kids do as they please" kinda mom.
    We had to tidy our room before bed and before we left for school.
    She didn't want us to leave it cluttered for her to have to look at all day. And it was also nice to wake up in the morning in a tidy room.

    Sometimes I even don't remember all of the things I stored and am pleasantly surprised.
    At the moment it's still quite cold and rainy where I live (south-east Germany) so I'm kind of inbetween winter and spring clothes. I'm looking forward to warmer temperatures for sure.

    In Europe and Scandinavia we "unmake" our bed each morning.. shake everything out, open the windows and air and let the sun in... this gets rid of moisture you loose in the night into your bedding and reduces bed mites (they don't like dry, cold, light)...the bed should be aired for at least 1hr.. but I leave the house to take kids to school and then on to work.. so we make out beds in the evening before we go in the bathroom to get ready for bed (shower, brush teeth, pjs etc)... it works perfectly... and my unmade bed looks great to me because I know its better for our health.

    "Reset" our bedroom a couple of weeks ago after painting it. It feels so good to know there are no dust bunnies behind and under the bed anymore! I wish it was permanent 😊 In the process, I realized that we never used the light fixture on our ceiling fan so we removed it. I was full of dust 🙄 I'm hungry after seeing the veggies on the grill - yum! Brown sugar - I just finished making some this morning by whisking molasses into regular sugar. It's so easy and I can make a smaller amount and store it in a mason jar. Thanks for a great video!

    I know we all do things differently as parents, and no judgment here, just something that worked for me: I "trained" (what's the right word here, they aren't pets) to put away their own toys - they played with it, they get to clean it up and put it away properly (in the box it came in, in the bin labeled with the item (or picture of the item) on it, etc. If they did not put away their toys/belongings, then if Mom or Dad had to take care of it, then Mom or Dad would be taking those items to the donation center "where another kid would love it and take better care of it". I tell you this bc I felt bad that you were stressing out cleaning out the boys' room before they came home with Grandma. You are the Mom, not the Maid, and you have enough to do in a day 💝

    • @shannontorrens1
      @shannontorrens1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am not offended, but like I said in the video they normally do their room all themselves but I wanted to do it because I had an extra minute and I again WANTED to do it myself. I wanted to get it cleaner than they do. I wasn't stressed I just wanted to finish cleaning the whole house before everyone came home =)

    I’m also strangely early to the comment party this time. Lol.
    I have a weird closet. Or should I say closets. 😅😅 It’s set up with a little nook between 2 super small closet spaces (each is little more than 2 feet of space). I use the middle nook also tho for some hanging stuff with a tension rod and I keep my super small hamper in there. It’s pretty easy I guess to switch out the seasons by just switching where I hang things. Also I have a shelf in the main one so I can only hang “short” things there. The middle is mostly just pants , skirts and a couple of dresses. I finally got my all seasons wardrobe down to about 75 hanging items (including coats, jackets, etc lol).
    Also now use an armoire with a tv inside so it’s not “drawers” anymore. It’s just a shelf and a bottom. So top shelf is in season and bottom shelf is 2 bins in the bottom. So I just put the in season on top and the off season on the bottom. Socks and undies are to the left in tiny internal drawers (it was originally made for a desk setup 😅😅).

    You may have said it and I missed it, but what day of the week do you typically do this on?

      The day usually depends on if I get some free time or how bad the house looks. I probably should be on more of a schedule, but usually I find a weekend day works better for me because then I have more help watching kids and free time =)

    LED lights emit significant radiation.

      The amount of radiation you are exposed to while using LED lights is nothing compared to the radiation produced by the sun, TV remote controls, cell phones, etc.

      Hello, I looked that up after I read your comment Mary since I know almost nothing about LED lights. As Susan mentioned I read that the radiation is coming at us from all angles. =) I guess we just have to enjoy life while we are living.
