CLASSICAL MUSICIANS REACT IS BACK! SEASON 8 BEGINS! LONG PINNED COMMENT TIME, LETS GO! 🙏 For the millionth time we thank you all for your patience and continued interest in our channel! Like we mentioned at the beginning of the video, we go on film session hiatus during ESM school breaks (Dec-Jan & May-Sept), which is the first reason why our reaction releases are delayed longer than other react channels. Then, you add in the fact we have to film 8-16 different people depending on their availability during their busy college schedules, and the editing of these 16 different blabber- *cough* I mean, reactors. I (Umu) used to edit all of our videos, but then during COVID, developed chronic tendonitis which effected my ability to edit everything. This is why we now strictly rely on our monthly income to pay a handful of part-time editors! Cosmic is THAT perfect song for Red Velvet 10th's anniversary. It perfectly showcases their vocals, group concept and the feeling of the girls. Bittersweet, bright, and haunting.
I didn't know why before but every time I listened to this song, I would burst into tears, even if I was in a good mood before. Umi kinda read my mind calling it sad / bitter sweet
omg I finally see you my fam. I also burst into tears and get overwhelmed with emotions when I listen to this because it has that hauntingly beautiful dreamy vibes to it ❤️
9:30 Red Velvet has perfected melancholic kpop. Their songs, especially their most recent title tracks have really complex emotions within them. It adds this beautiful layer of mystery to their songs and makes the listening experience so worthwhile. Chill kill, feel my rhythm and Cosmic added something to Red Velvets discography that I as their audience will forever appreciate, complexity. They've found a way to display their maturity as artists in a simple, yet distinct way that is unique only to them.
@@iHazPancakez Moonshine, as we all know, is a music producer Sunshine is a counterpart to Moonshine but in vocal engineering ex: build the harmony, the vocal track aka how the song should be sung in the demo (a common example is that for chill kill, joy's part in the bridge is using chest voice, which is one of the ideas of Sunshine; originally the part is in falsetto but eventually switch to chest voice for more power) these two have their own separate and joint works in music (mostly in SM) correct me if I am wrong
I listened to this song non stop this year, is addictive and so pretty and I remember always wanting to cry when Wendy sings "I just can't say goodnight" and now I know why 😂
Finallyyy... Everything is make sense after they breakdown it, i can really feel the sadness😢 but in the same time also make me smiling nonstop ❤ the entire album is resonated well with me, this truly have a special place in my heart ❤
COSMIC REACTION HELL YEAH! And yes, it has such a retro feel. I also felt an underlining of unknown sadness which somehow is being balanced with a false sense of safety and grandeur. They really did embody Midsommer well. Also idk if anyone else felt it but there's a very trance-like quality to the chorus (and secondary chorus?) I have been waiting for this reaction for 82 years, thank you for uploading the video.
Oh I definitely get the trance like feeling. It feels kinda of euphoric in the same as well... I wouldn't say distorted but the most COSMIC, like the outer-world feeling from the chorus, more of in a happier way with again, the unsettling feeling. The BRIDGE though... definitely my favorite part. The lyrics especially. As a listener, Imagining myself as that person they were chasing throughout the video, it feels like... Not worship but the (soft) heart clenching desperation to "reach out my sun kissed hand, to see what human eyes cannot see and discover", just because I want to follow Wendy's voice. This is more or less a self contained ramble but I felt connected to what you shared what you felt with the song so I just wanted to... Idk, relay some of my OWN feelings as well lol
I loved this return. I feel a little sad that Cosmic didn't get the love they deserved, because it's so good and the album is a work of art. Thank you for this reaction 💖
5:00 - "So starkly different, the verse and the chorus." - That is Red Velvet's trademark style. Quirky, almost disjointed verses, usually with just one or two of the members singing, very light on the intstrument accompanyment, and then a coming together of powerful vocal harmonies, a well-defined melody and instruments for the chorus. You'll find it in the majority of their songs, going all the way back to their debut.
"I'm feeling a little bit of sadness in this final chorus, like, bittersweet." gIRL if you only knew the stuff red velvet and reveluvs went through during their 10th anniversary. 😭🤡 so much stuff happening and this song was NOT beating the disbandment song allegations back then (which was obv debunked by now). it's funny to think about it now. lmao
This was song of the year for me according to Spotify wrap. There is so many lovely things happening in this song from a compositional stand point. The way unexpected chords resolve and the tone they set. It's not a Red Velvet song with out playing with modes, usually that IV/vi switch up somewhere in the chorus, whether it be iv/VI or a flat vi. They really love to modulate in the prechorus of their songs. You nailed it when you said the song gives off a bittersweet vibe in the post-chorus outro - that's exactly what pulls me into the song every time. It's my favorite part of the song, the layered harmonies that are dissonate but are so satisfying.
*** Joy just renew her Contract!!! I might be wrong after all! That's really gooooooooooooooooood. This song has a very bittersweet feel for Luvies-not just musically, as Umu mentioned, but also because of what it represents for Red Velvet as a group. I went to their concert this August, and the vibe really felt like it could be their last tour. They gave everything they had on stage. Joy was crying almost every time the crowd cheered for her, and everyone tried to hold back their tears whenever they spoke. I hope Cosmic is not their last song as a group, but it seems unlikely that Yeri and Joy will extend their contracts with SM. Still, I hope they can occasionally reunite for a comeback. 🥺
if anything i feel like it’s a new beginning for them as a group. they’ve said multiple times that they’re still gonna release music. seulgi said at one of the concerts that they’re working on a new album
I really love Kevin's reaction this time hahahahaha His expression of joy when he first encounters the change of the chords in the first chorus is so funny
When I saw the song credits included Moonshine (who I know are Swedish) and listened to the chorus, I very much felt that Cosmic is a kpop take on an ABBA track. String synths and disco for one but also the ability to blend joy and melancholy in one song is something I very much associate with them. Another thing I've always found interesting about watching trained musicians react to kpop is how strongly you guys respond to things in the music that are "unconventional" within western classical music. Maybe it's because I've been listening to kpop for years now but I don't find modal mixture or choruses having very different material to the verses to be that stimulating. I think having all those aural skills make it's more obvious (I have some basic music theory knowledge but don't usually use it when listening to songs unless prompted). Anyway, thank you so much for this reaction and all the hard work you put in!
Finally! I have been looking forward to this for so long. Especially wanting to hear your reactions to the strings and punchy bassline. Thanks for posting

Very happy and sad song that I almost thought it was a disbandment song. hopefully Red Velvet will continue in 2025
a comforting song to me this year ❤ red velvet songs always hv a special message to me in different occasions
I find it so interesting to watch them react to Red Velvet's music. Red Velvet's music is always scholarly but also very easy to listen to. I love Red Velvet.
