It is with a sad and heavy heart to all the fans of Daylight Dave to let you know that he has passed sometime last week. I don't know any of the detail... but I thought that people would want to know. There is a large hole in my heart for losing such a good friend and colleague. Highball DD. 😪 🐪

Just a note to everone: I just spoke with Dave's brother today (March 19) and was sadly informed that our good friend (and my former UP co-worker) "Daylight Dave" Arrol passed away suddenly this past week. A good friend of mine for many years, may he rest in peace and always be remembered for being a good modeler and an all-around great guy. -Dave Stanley
Oh, man. My condolences go out to his family and friends. I was just about to ask if he is local here in the Bay Area. I totally wanted to see his layout in person and come see if wanted to visit the SLHRS train club in San Leandro.

@@kazoik I am so sorry to hear that about Dave, I started following Dave a little over a year or so, he had a unique way of commutating his vid, no one else did it like Dave did for sure, I enjoyed every session,updates that he came out with, he Truely was a great modeler Even tho I was over 3500 miles away on the east coast,he grew to be a friend to me , and I will miss him greatly,please give his family my condolences & God Bless them all😢🙏🏻
Terrible news...and I only found out now! I thought DD took some time off YT, but never expected this. What a tragic loss for our modeling community. As they say, we lost a "Gentleman and a Scholar". DD seemed like an easy going and no-nonsense guy; his videos were always a laugh and pleasure to watch; and he freely and willingly shared his prototype experience and knowledge. DD will be sorely missed. RIP DD. 😭
Hi Dave, great to hear from ya!, head colds are a pain to deal with, hope you get better from it soon, I’m glad that you are showing how to set up unit sets for DCC operation, I am still DC but going to DCC soon, keeping notes in a tablet is a must. Highball the engine house Double D! That's quite a lot of engines you have work orders for! Gonna need to hire some loco techs and electricians for all of the work you have to do to maintain your fleet! I have yet to tinker around with speed matching. I have the vague idea of doing it, and it's verified with how you matched your UP 1983 with the GP9, but I'll try to get around to it when the time comes! For the time being, my Soundtraxx equipped run with other Soundtraxx engines and my Loksound likewise. Btw, we had a blast up in the Sierras over the weekend. Lots of snow and even train traffic wasn't too bad! Caught quite a few just down in Truckee and even saw one up in Soda Springs by MP 190! We got out of dodge just in time as you guys had that winter storm blow through late Tuesday! Keep up the good work, get some rest, and don't forget to mark up!
Yea I need to hire more people for Diesel Repairs... Ive got the Superintendent breathing down my neck to get those engines back in service.. I saw sum of your pictures and sorry I didnt respond as it reminded me too much of work...lol.. I just got a good dumping of rain so thats headed up the mtns... Glad you made it home safely. DD😜

It's kinda like 'The Price is Right's' game High - Low where you pick a number in the middle and jump up or down @ a higher value then narrow it down until you have it matched as best as you can.. it's kinda a crap shoot.. I forget Anthony.. do you have NCE? 🤔🤪 DD

DD I should be working on the Sacramento Southern again in June. April bids were out and I didn't bid. I have to much on my plate. e-mail me when the BAC V is ready for visitors and i will try and squeeze you in.

Dave Speed matching is fun especially when you have different. Manufactures and models.
