The Rugged Training Methods of Fiji’s Best Rugby Players

  • In Fiji, rugby is king. And the Yamacia Rugby Club personifies the sport’s grit and rugged determination. Lead by founder David Dakuitoga, the club is an initiative to give unemployed youth a second chance, but it has made a name for itself through demanding, improvised workouts that utilize tree trunks, old tires and concrete cinder blocks. Seven years after its founding as a grassroots club in a remote neighborhood, Yamacia Rugby Club now competes internationally and produces some of the island’s very best stars.

    Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa are currently ranked ahead of the USA in world rugby rankings. Fiji is 10th. I’d say they have some pretty decent rugby players.

      If only PNG pulled their heads in and start to fund the rugby programs, then we might one day be as good as our pacific brothers.

      Americans always look at sports and plagerise it but they change it abit. Baseball, alot like cricket, american football, rugby. Rugby and cricket are probably older than both of those

    • @Kongo-Slade007
      @Kongo-Slade007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      american football was derived from rugby ,if you want to know the history of the game hence the so so many similarities between them ,i mean the shape of the ball cant miss that ,the posts in the in goal arear ,the big fellas do the the scrum in rugby the big guys in nfl come to the line of scrumage and compete to protect the ball carrier somewhat along them lines ,american football still remains mostly american sport but televised around the world and alot of money where as rugby has become a global sport but with much less monez to the players
