What has always struck me most about his playing - even more than the vibrato, slides, etc in the left hand - is the electricity in the bow - surely the real source of this spectacular and endlessly fascinating playing.
Your dad was amazing. The old style of violin was the best. Modern institutions are slowly bastardizing the style to where violin playing will be no more
Where are on earth are you finding these early gems? I remember Mr Cole talking endlessly about Shumsky, even when, as a kid, I didn't have access to the recordings...
And btw the radio announcer indicates the second work is Kreutzer, not Kreisler, then follows the Tartini-Corelli Variations in Kreisler's arrangement.
The Chopin: This is very special, the way he plays it. To me, it's the best I've heard of this piece.
Dad was spectacular in every way in these unmatched performances! Eric Shumsky

Eric : I couldn’t agree with you more! Ronni
Yes he was. I had the pleasure of hearing him in concert and greeting him. He was kind and attentive. What a great man and artist!
He sure was!
Artistry, detail, and genuineness seldom heard anymore
An era when such imaginative
masters played with style and truly individual sound. Today, most are clones...
Spectacular. I wish I could have had one lesson with Mr. Shumsky. At least Roland Vamos could tell me some stories. And Shumsky liked dogs!
Thank you for your comment! Yes, more stories please. 🙏🤝
Fantastico! Grazie!
i would kill to have a trill like that.
Sublime!
Sounds like he taught Galamian how to do articulation! 😊
THERE IS no commentery that could be done!

Thank you for the correction. 🤝
👍🏽. Now tell me (for I'm an avid collector too) - where are you finding this stuff? Is it from Hector?
@@jasoncalloway1124 It’s from the Shumsky family collection.
Yes, you're right. It's the study n.8 by Kreutzer (with piano accompainement)
