    By far one the most comprehensive tutorials i have ever seen, eliminating every single one of my potential questions and/or concerns as everything was being taught. I also enjoy that you kept a few of your mistakes in there and turn them into teaching moments.
    Absolutely Stellar job, brother!

    Amazing video! soooo helpful too, the board with foot and the hand placements, and especially where you showed the problems and the solutions! That was a HUGE help AND I have yet seen it in another video.

      @@MASTERoQUADEMAN it is still helping us out. I have developed an annoying tendency to 180° out ( spin) after having gotten it down at last seasons end . Your righteous foot placement annotations helped me recognize I was placing my rear foot far too outward , even while my chest/face were remaining downhill facing.
      thanks a bunch.

    I've found that the weight on the front foot and looking in the direction you slide are the most important things on sliding, it makes such a huge difference. Very comprehensive and good tutorial!

    the annotations are useful & well conceived. The info is accurate and very useful. It is applicable to topmount directional setups just as well as the topmount drop deck ( or thru mount drops) .
    I had never thought of tossing some sandy dirt, then sweeping it into a light layer onto the path I am to practice upon . That is pretty good tip.
    I skate solo & taught myself the toeside & heelside coleman's as well as squat no hands ; practicing standups but it's mandatory to keep practicing the squats and handdown slides during learning new stuff. This video's ⭐ advise is the foot placement & graphics for that.
    well done & appreciated, OP

    @mohammadhasan6095 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey man, this video is great. Congrats on being awesome. Video was by far the best method of explanation I've seen so far. The only thing is that it doesn't look like you have full control over the board. Meaning sliding and more importantly, hooking up on your whim. I'm still trying to figure that out.

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohammad Hasan thanks for the support!! And the thing about this video is that I'm learning the slide as the video progresses.
      I didn't know how to toe slide before I made this, which is why I'm a little sloppy on most of these slides.
      With repetition you allow yourself to loosen up, and flow better. I notice that some of these slides look sort of choppy, like I'm bouncing or something, but it has to do with my experience at the time.
      Best control still comes in at foot placement and hand placement. The weight distribution in general. Too much weight on your hand and you get that sort of "choppy" feeling, not enough and you won't go sideways right away.
      Hopefully that helps explain a bit. But just keep pushing at your slides. You should feel more and more comfortable as you go!
      Let me know if you need any more explanation, I'd love to help!

I tried learning stand up slides like two years ago and I highsided once and broke my arm, dislocated my elbow, tore a ligament and havent had the courage since. I've been longboarding for years and learning to slide is honestly my dream and I wanna get back into it.
    Really really great guide btw. Especially where you show how to fix many of the issues.

  • @RyanColquitt
    @RyanColquitt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I feel like it helps a bit more to have your back foot slightly off the board (especially for topmounts) so you can get a little more leverage and less chance of your foot slipping before/during the slide. That way you're more-so kicking it out rather than carving hard to lose traction. But everybody has their own style, keep it up man.

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ryan Colquitt yo! My bros last name is Colquitt! But anyways.... as a learning curve, I don't think it's good to start off with your foot half on. There's less stability like that.
      As I've been sliding though, it is a lot better with your foot half on like you're saying. You get a real good kick. But as a learning aspect, I feel like learning with your foot in center keeps you from slipping. Thanks for your input, it really helps me getting advice from other folks!

    Can you please do a tutorial on a top mount kick tail longboard skateboard... Arbor Bug style skateboard... I'm not saying do it with the same exact board, but similar shape board.

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jon Joe sorry that took a while to reply! I've been out of service for a bit. But yeah I'll do that for you! I have a landyatchz dinghy board. It's top mount and has a kick... but it's a shorty. So it won't be 100% in your size... but it does match your style.
      Best tip would be to make a foot stop out of an old bushing. Gives you good grip in the front! Just google how. It's simple:). And as far as the back goes, really grip your foot into the tail. Those kick tails are awesome for free ride. They give you lots of grip. But yeah! I'll try and make my next video with that deck! So it can help you :). Best of luck!

    How can I find roads with barely any car and super wide like that in Vancouver 😩.. nice vid tho man. Just wondering why it is good to learn with grabbing first then doing the 180?? I keep on not kicking my board out and have it run into the curb but have never actually tried grabbing rail, is it actually safer or easier to kick out the board??

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neuvation hey moine! I’ve been to Vancouver for work, it’s an awesome place! I just find abandoned neighborhoods and rip them up. There are so many in Georgia where this was filmed. Grabbing helps me with stability a lot more. Then taking your hand off allows you to control your movement more. If you grab the board it helps you with stability... so you’ll slide, but you won’t be able to steer as well. Do this enough times to get comfortable then start putting your hand up more. The area you point your shoulder will be the area you go to. Hopefully this makes sense lol. It’s much easier to push out the board out when you’re holding it. That’s how I progressed:)

    • @neuvation6607
      @neuvation6607 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thank for the insight man, those damn curbs piss me off cuz I chipped my new landyachtz deck during a coleman (no grab)... I've finally pulled off the coleman and am starting pre-drifts ( glove down heelside) but need to get this toe-side slide down to start actually freeriding the hills in my area. Will try to incorporate that grab and hopefully don't break my collar bone or high-side like a lot of other beginners at this slide are experiencing. And yes it makes sense thanks man!

    Hey, I know it's been two years since you uploaded this, but maybe I'll still get an answer :)
    Can you do this with any wheels and any longboard? Cause I've got a pintail longboard and I'm not sure if that makes it harder to learn. I've been having a hard time trying to learn this and I feel like every little piece of buttcheek hast already been ripped open by the assphalt. (Haha, got it? ASS-phalt. Funny.)

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Claire Grube Dang, two years already?! Time flies for sure! But yeah lemme help you out!
      And yeah you can use any wheels for this really BUT... if you have a sharp edged softer wheel it makes it to where you’d need to go much faster to break it loose. Those sharp edges [_] make it hard to break, and then the softer material makes it grip much better.
      So having a rounded edge wheel (_) makes the initiation and continuation of the slide MUCH easier to break and control.
      Lol yeah I’ve been getting butt burns every time I learn a trick, but it’s part of the process. Some people are naturals I guess but hey, hats off to them!
      As far as your board goes, pin tails are more for cruising and carving. Not as much for sliding. However I’m a firm believer that you can make things happen with (almost) any board. You just need to make sure you have enough grip.
      If your pintail is long, then that might be hurting your game too. Shorter boards with concave and lifts will really help you control the directions of your travel:). (Mines a 35” board with big drops so it helps a ton!)
      Sorry this is a long message back but I really wanted to help you out! So hopefully this does:). Good luck and thanks for reaching out! Lemme know if you need anything c:

      MASTERoQUADEMAN toe side is when you slide with your toes forward, and heelside is sliding with your heels forward

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jacob van halteren hey holmes, sorry I’ve been working. Well I don’t want to sound douchy, but it’s a towside slide because you put the down force on the toe side of your board. It may look strange because I’m goofy, also I was learning how as I made this video, so they aren’t prime lol. But here’s a link to the video that helped me learn. th-cam.com/video/YnG3uEfYxWg/w-d-xo.html
      Plus Muirskate is a dope company with great products so maybe that’ll help too. I’ve also got a heel side video that shows how to with some voice commentary. If you want to learn that! Here’s a link:

    Not really the best way to slide, keeping your backfoot straight limits your leverage so much that you wont be able to do it at higher speeds or in a racing scenario.

      Lucas Ludwick this method works for me real well when I’m sipping down hills and bombing my lake trail. Super tight turns and one way trails and I have no problem. However thanks for the tip, I just tried to be as detailed as possible for folks who wanted to learn the basics

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lucas Ludwick I made this video as I was learning and I noticed that this helped me keep from flipping my foot off, which happened to me a ton. But as I realize, my foot seems to travel from the center to the side/ slanted or cocked to the side. However you’d say that. So I totally agree with what you’re saying now that I think about it. Thanks for the tips, hopefully people stumble across this to help them get better!

    Thats totally not how u do a proper toeside slide or predrift.
    This guy is missleading newbies which is really bad!

    This is just an uncontrolled drifr what he shows here.

    • @MASTERoQUADEMAN
      @MASTERoQUADEMAN  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jens Gruber you’re fair to your own opinion, but this is... in fact a proper toeside slide. I learned it from watching several videos and wanted to make a thorough one. I filmed this as I was learning to show “newbies” that you can learn it in a day. The beginning to end was a day of learning it. They weren’t all perfect but it’s a start. And as of today I’ve had plenty of control and confidence in my slides.
