@@stvia Not really, because the viewers make the remark, not Danya, and it remains understandable that one cannot completely understand how 10 s is a ton of time, even when expecting it not to be a problem for Danya.
guy: “oh boy, my scotch gambit is too strong for this level, the guy is sweating” meanwhile daniel: *gives an entire lecture on the position while deciding to premove a 5 move mating sequence*
@15:45s. 20 second warning is started and this is the time I start moving randomly. But he starts explaining and even ask questions and waiting for answers. Then he start premoving 100% correctly. This guy is insane. Love the content.
One of my favourite videos because it actually shows Danya defending a complex opening out of theory. As a Scotch Gambit player myself it was even more fun! Also it's somewhat "comforting" to know even though Danya clearly plays incredible Chess, finding the best defensive moves in this kind of time control really is impossible.
I think they have very little in common besides playing chess. Eric is an uber chill dude and he goes on random tangents often ("badgers? ...fascinating"). The play styles are nothing like each other too.
I thought it was a really fantastic game, Daniel's play is always great to see but it takes two to make for a great game and I always appreciate the opponents who put up a challenge. Great content as always :)
I admire Danya's attitude toward chess and I appreciate all the effort he makes to help beginners and novices to get better at the game. I love watching these videos and I get lots of very useful information that helps improve my chess.
2:39 after 7. nh6 8. bxh6 black can simply castle short. This position is only +0.5 for two reasons. One, whites bishop is hanging on h6 and whites rook can be won with bxb2. After 8. … 0-0 white must give up his bishop on g7, simultaneously defending against bxb2. Once the black king recaptures, stockfish gives +0.6 which is a clear advantage for white, but not nearly as decisive as white might hope.
One of the best videos on the channel, started out on the back foot in the opening, amazing turn around, the casual handling of time pressure at the end, plus the bonus cheating analysis. This video has it all!
This is absolutely wonderful Daniel! Watching you stay so poised during his attack was truly educational! You KNEW if you stayed composed you would outlast him. I am so grateful you post these videos. Thank you!
great videos Daniel, love the pedagogy you demonstrate here, with you're level it's a superb class for us, just one thing if i may, although it's beautiful when you calculate super complex lines at the end, i don't think many of us can finish games like this, maybe winning in a simpler way would teach us more achievable ideas. 2:46 after dxc3 Qd5 Nh6 Bxh6 0-0 Bc1 Nb4 you cannot prevent Nc2+ and the position is like -1.5 for black. The problem though after dxc3 white should play Qb3 after which black has to sacrifice his f pawn and castling rights and that'd be slightly better for white. My little contribution with the engine analysis.
Danya with 10 secs left - this is an eternity of time. Me with 1 min left - time to become flash. 😄 Hats off to Danya, he is the strongest GM under 2700.
90+ accuracy in the 1600s is not uncommon Danya, actually in 60% of my rapid games (15/10 pool) at least one of the 2 players scored 90+ (I got 99 once to my opponent's 40, in 34 moves). We usually lose due to a blunder and often half of our moves are best move.
14:54 could he have played bishop d4 check, if rook takes bishop then mate with rook e1. If king moves to h1 then we have an open file for both of our rooks and ideas of bishop takes b2 in the future?
At 23:39 BLACK IS NOT LOST!!! Danya do you know that there's a very trappy line for black in this position? I discovered it on youtube as a weapon against the Scotch Gambit! There you can castle and if white tryes to save his bishop with like Bc1 (most played move on the database) you have: Nb4, Qd1, c2, Qd2, cxb1=Q, Rxb1, exd5, Bf5! And white loses a piece, and an exchange! All the moves are almost forced after white blunders with Bc1, and the final position is evalued -5.5! Alldoe this trap is very specific you could've played it in this game!
@@tayk-47usa41 oh hold on, this is not theory! and if white don't blunders with Bc1 black is worst! It's a trappy line, and honestly i don't think he knows, because it's a bad line at high level and it's very specific, and if he did know i think he had mentioned it once. He entered a lot more into theory than he wanted in the end, and of played like a GM, i didn't like this episode so much because he wanted to prove that you can avoid theory while in many cases you cant do it so easily...
When Danya says he is in control and playing so calmly in the last 10 seconds while still asking questions to chat, he is badass as making an en passant mate.
Actually the line danya gave at 2:30 is incorrect, yes white does win a piece but after Nh6 Bxh6 0-0 black is threatening to recapture the bishop and also is threatening cxb2, if Bc1 then Nb4 is better for black
@@chris5559 I think you mean refuting the gambit, which means proving why it's not good. Declining the gambit is the opposite of accepting the gambit, so taking the offered pawn/piece

8:45 Doesnt rh6 after qe7+ win the bishop? the bishop is trapped and soon you would play d5, removing the queen from the defense of the bishop. Since no on suggested that I feel like I am missing a move for white here that would save it. EDIT: Never fucking mind he can just take d3 and stay on the diagonal lmao, also it would only be a trade since Ive been hanging my knight the whole time
I think the opponent will lose two peices if he forks. After Ng6, the king will move to g8, knight takes the rook, pawn takes rook, promoting to a queen. King has to take, then white king will take the knight on h8
I didn.t know this gambit very well but am I right to assume this is very close to the Evan's gambit in the Italian game (you have to use knight on the rim to defend. against a QB battery or semi battery) Looks pretty close to me
