1)when opponent pushes pawn look what weakness is left behind
2)Dont allow opponent to push pawn with tempo in the opening attacking the knight
3)consider king safety when pushing g5 to chase away bishop
4)when playing greek gift sacrifice g5 square should be uncovered by the opponent
    5)lobster pincer mate!!!!

Hi Daniel! I just looked at the Carlsen Video from 2 months ago. I was wondering if this is correct.
"Knight c4?? Because with the knight in that square he can promote freely. There's two ways this could go. One is you take the knight with your king. Carlsen promotes. You go A2 Check. He moves to A1. You can't go back to c3 because of the queen's diagonal. So when you try b2, he takes with the queen. Then the game is pretty much over. The other option is you ignore the knight. You go A2 Check. CArlsen moves to A1. You go B2 Check. He takes on A2 with the knight that is still on c4. Then promotes the Queen. And that should also be game. And the moment you take the knight in either scenario, he promotes which locks you out of dark diagonal that the queen now occupies. Thus, the pawns are unsupported and your assault of checks ends."

Continue to study all aspects of the game while trying to identify your worst weaknesses and analyze your games without an engine first. Work hard at the board and use a time control that allows you to check for blunders on every move (both yours and theirs) - 1400 players blunder frequently and if you can both avoid doing it & learn to capitalize when they do it you can easily get to at least 1700 before people start to become too solid.
