In Scotland Yard, one of the players takes on the role of Mr. X. His job is to move from point to point around the map of London taking taxis, buses or subways. The detectives - that is, the remaining players acting in concert - move around similarly in an effort to move into the same space as Mr. X. But while the criminal's mode of transportation is nearly always known, his exact location is only known intermittently throughout the game. My favorite board game when i was a kid
This is a really fun game. A friend of mine has it and four of us would get together and play it on weekend nights. Great review and explanation

I was just looking at this game this week! fun game! A newer game Last Friday takes a lot of the mechanics of this game from it. except instead of running away from, you're secretly approaching and killing camp councilors.
great idea for a game but terrible execution because the villain is so handicapped and the campers extra abilities make it borderline impossible to get caught.

i had a popular spanish adaptation of this game as a kid called alerta roja, never figured how to play it , instead of london you were in the sewers searching for a radiactive barrell (it was bizarre that you still used the cars in the sewers) but it had 2 things that make it stand out , first the barrel piece was beautiful, it was a transparent barrell with a skull piece sculpted inside, then the cover it looks great a blue and red ilustration of the barrell over the city skyline, it look like a horror movie vhs 80s cover( actually the same company made adaptation of classic board games with a horror theme i also had clue , called misterio and with dracula, frankenstein and clssic monsters set in a horror castle.
