Well done lads, this is the first video that actually explains HOW TO make a magnet, this will make pigeon hunting alot easier without the expense of buying a magnet....5 stars!
@1995Mingo Cool, im glad it worked out for you. If you've got the rpm slow enough then i wouldnt bother with a resistor, save your money for some decoys! Let us know how you get on in the field with it. Were just waiting for pigeon season to open, 2 1/2 weeks to go and then gonna go out to the rape seed fields and hopefully get a good bag full of woodies!!
@1995Mingo Get the biggest one you can afford. Typically a 7Ah will last you a few hours( 4 or 5 ), depending on the strain on the motor. If you get a 12Ah it should last most of the day for you. If you end up getting the resistor, it will last even longer cause it will use less power.
great video mate ive gone and got the materials to make my own. just one thing i need to ask though how do you attach the pigeons? i was looking at spreading the wings with the crocodile clips but the flight patern would look wrong. is there a video ov how u did this thanx.
@MrJoiner94 Hi mrjoiner, just a quick question, How did you make the windscreen wiper go ONE WAY, surely they turn backwards and forwards, let me know if you will mate.. Puzzled!!!!!!?.
@subsonicnat the window wipers move backwards and forwards because of a mechanism that detaches from from the window wiper motor. the motor just moves one direction at a time. Hope this helps
Yeah the resistor will slow it down, but I'm not sure how much they'll be. You can buy a speed controller from any hunting shop, but they range from £20-£40. I'm sure if you go into an electrical shop and get the variable resistor it'll do the same job for alot less.
@1995Mingo Im not sure, i havn't got a resistor on our setup. The best best is to ask an electrician and explain what you've made and see what he says.....
@24seven112 You can buy a speed controller from any good hunting shop or on the web. Alternatively, you can get a variable resistor from either a scrap yard or an electrical shop. I need to get one myself, so as soon as I do i'll let you know what to look out for....
@1995Mingo Your best bet is trial and error. It should be a simple case of finding the right wire, but if all else fails all you need is a variable resistor from an electrical shop. That will allow you to control the speed of the magnet externally after its been finished. Let us know how you get on......
hi this is realy good i,m makeing one,do you have a fuse going to the battery, ive got the moto working but not sure if you got a fuse by the battery ,thanks good job.
@xTheDevilinsideUx We got it from B&Q mate, One more thing, you may need to reinforce the angled bar the u bolt on to the motor and that u attach the arms to (shown attached to the unit at 2.38) because it may start to bend the metal in the middle with the weight on the arms, do this by putting a piece of metal from one side of the top or middle to the other side of the Y shape, you can use the existing bolt and hole that attaches the arms to the magnet to do this, hope that helps
@dankhan69 Its actually pretty easy, we have the same problem with walking quite a way from the car. The arms of the magnet unscrew using wing nuts, and we put the base unit in a ruc sac. It's just a case of carrying the arms of the magnet in one hand but its OK, they're light enough...
@barburous Thanks barburous, let us know how you get on......if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. We have just got into hunting, so if you have any tips that would be great...thanks for watching.
@TheJamesthorn Thanks, myself n my mate searched everywhere for tips on how to make a magnet but found nothing, so decided that it would benefit others like ourselves to document our project.

Thanks for the video,i have a scrap omega in my front garden so going to get stuck in and see what i can pull out of her to make one up.thanks again
real good 5 stars
we need more people like you
@billy10201020 No problem mate, glad to be of help. Thanks for the comment and let us know how you get on...

Excellent Video. I'll definately be useing a few of your ideas
Can you remember exactly what car the wiper motor was off? What pare of Ireland you from anyways? Cheers

Hi mrjoiner,

Where did you source the 10mm box section?

Nice one. Our one is still going strong. Glad we could help !

Thats very creative man!
Jocke Jocksson Thank you. It's still going strong
Is the current speed to fast to draw in pigeons? I have build one, I tried it but it rained that day and I'm a noob so I guess I'm no expert, yet!

@irishpigeonshooters how do u change the speed mine goes way to fast
What type of engine is used?
@xTheDevilinsideUx

How much did your windscreen wiper motor cost?
@CallawayERC Yeah we got it from a fiat punto but any car will do really, Were from meath just outside drogheda,
Nice job 👍

Where can i get the battery for it
@vidaminfeeder2 Its a device used to attract pigeons.
