- The Glacier Express is known as Switzerland's most luxurious and one of its most expensive train rides. I went on the first class Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz in the month of February and this luxury train ride through the Swiss Alps was one of the most beautiful train journeys I have ever experienced, and not just in Switzerland. If you’re wondering ‘Is the Glacier Express worth it?’, then hopefully this video will answer your question. The Glacier Express is an 8-hour train journey from Zermatt to St. Moritz in Switzerland. It covers some of the most scenic landscapes in Switzerland covering Chur, Andermatt, and the famous bridges around Chur like the Landwasser Viaduct. It’s a beautiful and luxurious experience (the most expensive train ride in Switzerland), but worth every penny! I also talk about how much the Glacier Express costs and a way to do the Glacier Express in a more cost-effective manner. Even though I went on the Glacier Express solo, I actually turned out to be such an amazing experience. I also spent the rest of the evening in snowy St. Moritz. Glacier express is the most beautiful train journey in the world. And the most expensive too. It's vibrant is way different when there's no ice n when it's sunny. Those who have experienced it, knows it. One of my friend travelled in the glacier express and he said that he was literally stunned and out of words when he saw the scenes and beauty out there. Switzerland truly is the most beautiful country in the world.
Places like Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken etc , can't get enough of its beauty when I saw it in pictures. Just pictures, imagining how it would be in real.
It is one of the most beautiful but not most expensive. Rocky Mountaineer in Western Canada is the most expensive. The 2 day train ride starts from $2300 . Rocky Mountaineer is a gorgeous ride, too (you can check on TH-cam) , however, Glacier Express gets more points because it's a cheaper option . I'll be in Switzerland in April, and I'm looking forward to this.
Looking at the snow capped villages, mountains from a super clean, cozy, comfy train compartment seems like a memorable experience. Switzerland looks beautiful even in snowy, gloomy winter.

My brother inlaw is from Switzerland. He lives in Queenstown New Zealand where our family is from now for over 20 yrs. But he goes home to Switzerland sometimes. Its just from New Zealand to Switzerland the trip is soooo long . He said Queenstown reminds him of Switzerland 🇨🇭 ❤️

Due to the damage to the railroad system in the Mattertal valley, the continuous line between Visp and Täsch below Zermatt remains closed until at least August 25. All Glacier Express trains will run exclusively between St. Moritz and Brig until the line is opened. On the route between St. Moritz and Brig the normal services are available and the departure and arrival times for all stops will remain as per the timetable.
For Glacier Express travelers from/to Zermatt, an appropriate alternative transport service is in operation in an extra train from Zermatt to Täsch and separate buses between Täsch and Brig. Guests affected will be informed directly by Railservice Glacier Express as soon as possible.
For departures from Zermatt, we recommend that you arrive at Zermatt station half an hour before the regular departure time. Our staff will then meet you there. Optionally, you can also board the train directly in Brig. Please refer to the timetable for departure times.
If you have already booked for the time in question and decide not to take the Glacier Express journey as planned please contact our customer service directly.

For all the people with less money: There are regular trains on this route. They don't have the super-panoramic windows, and they don't go slow on certain fotospots, but you can still have a joyful ride. 8 hours of stunning views are kind of exhausting anyway.

It is simply too expensive. The best way to enjoy Switzerland is to go out and enjoy the natural views and the fresh air out in the open. Buy the week pass and enjoy unlimited travel in regular trains and go out hiking in those wonderful mountains
