This video changed my life tonight.
Growing up, Baptist , Church of Christ came along and since I have been without hope. God doesn't hear me. Etc.
Now, I realize and immediately understand what has happened.
    A different spirit was introduced.
Thank you Jesus for this man of God. Joe

It appears that many people rationalize, minimize, and justify scriptures of the Holy Bible to go along with their lives, instead of pleasing The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The church of Christ teaches from the the scriptures, and if that makes one feel uncomfortable you are missing the entire point.
The Lord's word never changes, no matter how much society changes.

I grew up in the Campbellite CoC, my Grandfather is actually still part of the leadership there. Upon diving into philosophy years back, I learned about presuppositions and took note that the major unjustified presupposition of the ‘church of Christ” is sola scriptura, the doctrine that the Bible is the sole authority for Christians. Ironically enough though, Holy Scripture itself never teaches this doctrine. This is the same doctrine that produced the 1000’s of Protestant denominations (CoC being one of them though they will deny) who all agree that the Bible is the sole authority, yet all disagree on how it is supposed to be interpreted. Also upon looking into Church history, you’ll find that this doctrine wasn’t taught for 1500 years give or take, after Pentecost. It was promulgated by German reformers in the 15 and 1600’s. This “teaches from the scriptures” ‘credit’ that you give to the Campbellite church of Christ, was ironically enough one of the biggest nails in the coffin for me. I don’t mean to be harsh, there are lots of solid people in those churches, but they are mislead in my view. Hopefully my comment will be of some benefit to you.

As a former CofC member I wanted to hear what you have to say. But 6 minutes in and there’s already so many inaccuracies. Never once growing up did I hear we weren’t saved by grace or faith. But just as the scriptures say we were taught about baptism. But baptism isn’t a work. After all when you get baptized you’re doing nothing other than the confession you make. A work is active not passive. On the other hand the man made sinners prayer is a work and much more active than baptism.
I think you’ve grouped CofC into this because you were in the International churches of Christ which is not even related to the Churches of Christ.

    • @joefranklin1636
      @joefranklin1636  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks for the comment. Jesus was baptized to fulfill all righteousness (Matthew 3:15) which makes baptism a work. Biblical baptism follows conversion, and it’s always a work. Secondly, even something that’s passive, like circumcision is excluded from the gospel, in other words It doesn’t matter if it’s active or passive (Gal. 1:6~9). Your last point seems to be the sinners prayer. Well, it is true that those that misuse the prayer by teaching, If you say this prayer you’re saved. Tthat that would be tantamount to a work….You are correct that the misuse of the sinners prayer is no less heretical than making baptism necessary for salvation, which makes it a part of the gospel. The correct use of the sinners prayer is that it’s a valid expression of faith and repentance. The prayer doesn’t save you, but it’s the faith expressed in the prayer that saves, and it’s a great memorial and remembrance of the time that a believer first came to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. I hope this helps.

For 1,500 years dating back to the time of the apostolic fathers, it was taught that baptism played a part in our salvation.
Did they miss it? It wasn’t until Zwingli came along and upended 1,500 (he stated that the church had it all wrong) years of church history. Were those believers all part of one big cult?
Calvinist teaches that one is regenerated prior to faith? Perhaps you’ll discover there are other belief systems outside of the COC that offer more concerns that have been around a while also.

Most Christians do not obey the commandment to rightly divide the word of truth because they do not know how to divide the word of truth, even though this commandment is the most important commandment regarding our salvation.
This commandment is found in II Timothy 2:15 and we are told to study God’s word and rightly divide God’s word so that we will be approved unto God. This verse warns us that we will be ashamed if we do not study and rightly divide God’s word.
II Timothy 2:15 - Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We know this to be a commandment from Jesus Christ because our Apostle Paul writes in I Corinthians 14:37 that what he writes are the commandments of our Lord.
I Corinthians 14:37 - If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
How Are We To Rightly Divide The Word of Truth?
The Bible is the word of truth. In the Bible, there are two major divisions. These major divisions are called The Prophetic Program and The Mystery Program. We are to divide these two programs. Additionally, each program has its own separate gospel. We are to divide these two separate gospels.
The Prophetic Program’s theme is Christ’s reign on the earth - Jeremiah 23:5, Luke 1:30-33. Under this program, the nation of Israel will have their kingdom with Jesus Christ reigning as their King. Those saved by belief of the gospel of the kingdom will inherit the earth.
The Mystery Program’s theme is Christ’s reign in the heavens - Ephesians 1:19-23, Colossians 3:1-4. The body of Christ saved by belief of the gospel of the grace of God will inherit the heavens.
      How Satan Hides the Gospel
We are told in II Corinthians 4:3-4 how Satan hides the gospel and causes souls to be lost. Satan hides the gospel by blinding our minds to the gospel. Light allows us to see. If light is not directed upon the gospel of the grace of God, then how will we be able to see our gospel?

      II Corinthians 4:3-4
3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
For Satan to accomplish his goal of having us live eternally with Him in hell, he has to blind us to the word of truth rightly divided. This means that Satan blinds us to the existence of the Prophetic Program and its gospel of the kingdom and the Mystery Program and its gospel of the grace of God. Once Satan has accomplished this, then the rest is easy.
Now, Satan can take the gospel of the kingdom and combine it with the gospel of the grace of God, blending these two gospels to make it appear as if it is just one gospel. Then Satan lets everyone create their gospel from these blended gospels.
You would probably agree that 100% of Christians will say that the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ. However, wouldn’t you also agree that these same people have diverse beliefs regarding how salvation is achieved? The multitude of beliefs about how salvation is achieved is the direct result of not rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rightly dividing the word of truth gives us not only the knowledge of how we are saved but also the knowledge that we can never lose our salvation. By rightly dividing the word of truth, we can have full confidence that once we believe the gospel of the grace of God, the Holy Spirit will seal us until the day of redemption.
Please be saved by believing the gospel of the grace of God and then please teach your family and friends how to be saved by believing the gospel of the grace of God.

One of the reasons it is hard to reach out to cults is that many members are born into the cult. They are heavily influenced by their relatives and friends from birth onward. They are inundated with false doctrines, lies, and deception. When their prophet or teachers contradict Scripture, leaders are quick to claim, "Scriptures are in error down through the centuries", and our prophet has restored the scriptures to the truth. It makes it almost impossible to show these cult members the truth. The LDS church is a windmill of lies and deception, and is always one step ahead, having well prepared antidote answers to fit every contradiction thrown at them.
There is no amount of indisputable evidence to shake the faith of cult members, because once God's Word is questioned, Satan is in control. The first time we find God's Word questioned is in (Genesis 3: 1-5), when Satan told the woman, "you shall not surely die, but become a god yourself". Mormonism has pick up on the "big lie", that originated before the dawn of time in the Garden, and propagated it as truth by the LDS church. Sadly, those cult members who finally, somehow, figure out the truth through the maze of distortion and deception, often leave the cult to become atheists; having confusion and burnout from all the deception.

As a life-long member of the Church of Christ, and being a member of various conservative and liberal congregations, I cannot tell you how inaccurate and misleading this presentation is. Stone-Campbell did not "found" the CoC. The CoC came out of the restoration movement like many other sects, but the CoC has never believed in, for instance, speaking in tongues as Stone-Campbell did, and never rejected the Trinity. (BTW, "godhead" is another term for trinity) The CoC was not always non-instrumental (learn your pre- and post-Civil War CoC history!). The CoC does not believe in works for salvation! We believe baptism is the point in which our sins are washed away, but know it is God's grace that saves us through our faith. And baptism is not a work as so many claim. A biblical "work" is a "good deed" - what a person does AFTER they are saved to live out their faith. We don't believe works save us! We don't believe in a different Jesus or a different gospel. That's simply false - and laughable. The CoC is not a cult. (The ICOC is, however.) You gave a lot of accusations without proof to back it up. I have studied church history - especially when and how it relates to the Stone-Campbell movement, Christian churches, Disciples of Christ and CoCs. You cannot describe the CoCs by looking at Campbell and Stone and be accurate.

In 1811 Thomas and Alexander Campbell founded the so-called "Church of Christ" in Brush Run, PA. Around this time Alexander claimed that he had restored the Church and the gospel. They claimed "Church apostasy" and that the church had fallen away for 1800 years until they came onto the scene. You also mentioned baptism, a work of righteousness. Jesus implied that it was a work when he was baptized... "To fulfill all righteousness."

PSA: Not all churches of Christ are the same and governed by the international church of Christ. A lot of the coc’s are completely separate from the icoc which is cultist. They are some of the most Godly people I know and they take Christianity so seriously that they only do things described in the Bible in there worship. Also, the common misconception that they believe they are the only ones doing things right isn’t completely true. Everyone that I know in the church of Christ tell me that they believe that many people from all denominations will enter heaven. They believe that the grace of God is wide enough to accept many people into heaven because they still believe and practice the basics of Christianity. That’s all I know about the church of Christ, I’m hoping I will learn more by people who reply to this. Just wanted to let y’all know. God bless ❤

I grew up in the churches of Christ, my Grandfather pastored there for 45+ years. There is no historical witness to this church prior to the time of Campbell, and the restoration movement. The teachings of the Campbellite CoC weren’t taught for 1500 years after Pentecost. You can read 1st and 2nd century Christian writers and they don’t teach what the Campbellite CoC teaches. For 1500 years The One, Holy, Catholic (not papal Catholicism btw lol), and Apostolic Church taught Apostolic Tradition, the True Presence in the Eucharist, Infant Baptism, they had monasticism and a host of other thing which the Campbellite CoC does not teach. They didn’t teach that Holy Scripture is the sole authority for Christians, nor does Holy Scripture itself teach that. As 1 Timothy 3:15 says The Church of The Living God is the “pillar and ground of truth”, this Church came before the Scriptures, this Church is the one that compiled them and canonized them, and apart from The Church you will err in your interpretation of Holy Scripture, like the Campbellite church of Christ does.

No, cults are defined theologically when a solid Christian worldview is in mind. Secular psychology looks to psycho-social criterion or mind-control before labeling a group as a cult but Christians go by the Word of God, correctly interpreted, and are called to defend the faith regarding those who are teaching a false gospel, Jude 3. The Pharisees were a cult, along with the Judaizers and Gnostics for that very reason, Mt. 23; Galatians; 1 Tim. 6:20-21; Col. 2:8.

Claiming to wear the "right name" is dishonest and insulting to anyone with a brain.
"Restorationists" aren't in the Bible. The Church of Christ movement started in 1811, in Brush Run, PA and was the brainchild of Campbell and his associates. This is a historical fact. Campbellism is not in the Bible either.
Attempting to slap that label on your church is false equivalency or bait-and-switch. Furthermore, the act of doing so does not make it so.
Even when tacking that expression on a sign or building does not make a group of heretics who follow the interpretations and doctrines of Alexander Campbell a church of Christ. Russellites call themselves “Jehovah’s Witnesses,” but that does not exempt them from the fact that they are false Christians. Eddyites call themselves “Christian Scientists,” but this does not nullify that they are neither Christian nor scientists. Holy Rollers call themselves “Holiness,” but this does not put away their carnality and unrighteousness. Mormons or Smithites called themselves “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,” but this can’t change their ”leopard spots” or the reality that they are the earthly movement of Joseph Smith. Therefore, the so-called name “Church of Christ” which you referenced in Romans 16:16 does not change Campbellites from being a synagogue of Satan.

Second, Acts 2:38 seems to be a favorite with the members of the coC. Care to read the whole chapter in context? Who was Peter talking to? What sin did they commit? Why were they told to be baptized? The whole chapter is worth reading to understand it's meaning, not just a verse.
Lastly, I am fully aware of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I didn't tell ANYONE to run from the truth about Christ. I said to run from ANY church that claims they (alone) have the truth. I'm also aware that Jesus said He would build His church, yet, he NEVER gave His church a name...your belief system comes from Campbell whether you believe it or not. This is no different than having a so-called prophet like in Adventism. You're following a man's belief. Funny, when I was a member nearly 40 years ago, it was a capital 'C' for church. Only recently its been changed to a small 'c' to coincide with Romans 16:16. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ It's also funny how coC members zero in on verse 16, but not much else! These Christians taught of Christ in their homes. This is why these home churches were called churches of Christ. This is not difficult to see for those who see the whole picture, not just one verse.

I am German and was married to a SDA for 20 years. I never converted and I think this finally killed our marriage. His family always looked down on me and made me understand that they were superior. I do not belong to any church but I do read the Bible. The scriptures are my sole source when it comes to faith. I think the SDAs are right when it comes to the Sabbath. It actually IS the biblical day of rest. However, founding their whole salvation on this one day, is ludicrous IMHO. Moreover, they only allow doctors, nurses and of course Pastors to work on the Sabbath. Which again is totally ridiculous IMHO. In ancient times in Israel, there had been guesthouses (hotels) of course. Did the owners starve their patrons on that day? Hardly. Or what about firefighters? If someone's house was burning on Sabbath, they just let it burn to the ground and if people where in there, it was God's will??? Seriously??? Just because it is not mentioned in the Bible does not mean no one came to rescue. Absence of evidence is simply not evidence of absence.

      New Covenant Whole Gospel:
What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below.
Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him.
He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth.
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis?
Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart.
Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24.
1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

JF: Thank you for your calm and reasoned presentation, it was informative if not quite on the mark. As a 47-years member of the church of Christ, I would completely disavow any connections or likeness to the ICOC. I've dealt with people from that situation, and your assessment of them is correct. I am disappointed at your statements that church of Christ imposes a salvation-by-works demand on people. In my years, at about 18 congregations in 6 states, I have never heard anyone says that salvation is obtained by works of man, and I seem to have missed all the hellfire and brimstone sermons. I concur generally that the delineated 5-step plan of salvation is a little much, but it is not without NT basis. Every conversion to Christianity in Acts included water baptism, and if that is considered a work for salvation, I think that a commanded action and one described as leading to salvation is needing doing, not discounting the multiple passages which speak to faith and grace. I think a fair assessment would consider all relevant passages, and our job as students of God's word is to find the answer that lets all of them be true. As a final note, I am disappointed that this really wasn't about 4 cults, but just the one group of your own bad experiences. I'm sorry you fell in with those people, but they are not the norm. Do I sound like a hardliner if I say let's do just what the Bible says? Matt 12.50

@@dscott3421 Thank you for your calm response and for the ideas that you’ve put forth. The fact that you have not heard a gospel presentation at your services that state explicitly that salvation is obtained by works of man means very little when your own plan of salvation on baptism makes the ordinance a requirement for salvation. Alexander Campbell, the founder of your church, went too far in that he made baptism a requirement for salvation when in fact, the Bible teaches that it’s a requirement for obedience after conversion. Paul was very clear in first Corinthians 1:17 that baptism is not part of the gospel. Elsewhere he has made it very clear in Romans chapter 4 verses one through eight that we are justified by faith alone. I’m sorry that you’re having such a hard time with this simple teaching. @@joefranklin1636 I have not heard this argument before, but Paul wrote 1Cor 1.17 after 1Cor 1.13-15, in which he is truly clear that him not baptizing was to avoid factions based on himself having baptized anyone. I welcome any examination of the Greek, since I learned both Latin and koine Greek in school. But if you would care to offer further reply, please explain your application of 1Pet 3.21, where the phrasing exactly says "baptism which corresponds to this now saves you". Many centuries of translational scholarship all say the same thing from Acts 2.38, that repentance and baptism are for remission for sins, and Acts 22.16, where Paul's own baptism was to wash away his sins. And it will have no more value to quote or cite other passages saying things about faith and grace, I am glad for their presence and I don't discount those, but these others seem to have no creedence from you. They also are God's own word speaking to us, not me, not A.Campbell, so I ask as before, what answer lets all the passages give us a right and full understanding?

Spirit baptism, which is synonymous with conversion, places the repentant sinner into the body of Chris, 1 Corinthians 12:13. This is permanent and cannot be overturned. I think a good idea might be to ask her if she would like to be baptized and if so make it special and hold some kind of ceremony but full immersion probably is not going to be very safe.

You started out by using the phrase, "faith alone."
So, I looked it up in the New Testament. I only found ONE verse with that phrase..."You see that a person is JUSTIFIED by works and NOT BY FAITH ALONE." (James 2:24)
So, it seems, that Christian Faith is a combination of faith and some kind of works. We know that the "works" of the Law of Moses are futile. So, there must be some other works by which we are justified.
Perhaps, James, earlier in the letter, makes clear which works?
"But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing." (James 1:25)
"And with many other words he testified, and exhorted them, saying, SAVE YOURSELVES from this crooked generation." (Peter -- Acts 2:40)
So, we are not justified by "faith alone." That's a "doctrine of men" wrested from Paul's admonitions to those who were already believers at Rome and in Galatia.
"There are some things in them (Paul's letters) that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures." (1 Pet. 3:16)

Thanks for sharing your perspective. The Bible was written in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic and doesn't translate directly into English. That's why we need scholars and a reliable hermeneutic to gather its meaning. Although God's Word doesn't explicitly use the phrase "faith alone" doesn't mean that it’s not a Bible doctrine. You seem to be Church of Christ. Many of them have been deceived by biblical literalism as a way to understand Scripture. Their motto is that they “call Bible things by Bible names.” The terms Trinity, incarnation, penal substitution, and the deity of Christ, for example, are not found within the pages of the Bible, but they accurately summarize biblical concepts. Also know the history of the Restoration Movement, particularly, Alexander Campbell, who was a stark literalist who held to the faulty CENI hermeneutic. Some call this the “plain reading” method. The Mormons, JW’s, Christadelphians, SDA’s, Oneness Pentecostals, and many other cults employ this as a way to interpret the Bible. He also foolishly adopted the philosophy of John Locke, Francis Bacon, Robert Sandeman, Roman Catholic justification theology (ala Trent) and a number of other errors into his “reform” movement. As a result, the Churches of Christ don’t understand Bible meaning very well. Their myopic view of Scripture is fragmented and unreliable in terms of orthodoxy.
The term JBFA usefully summarized Paul's teaching in Romans Ch.'s 3-5. If you have ears to listen to the Holy Spirit (as He enables you to understand the Scripture within the totality of Holy Writ), you will discover that faith saves, absent any works such as baptism or worship rules. Our intellectual pride seeks to find a "workaround" outside of full trust in the gospel of justification by faith alone, which is an essential and non-negotiable doctrine of the Christian faith. I hope that's not what you are seeking to do. To reject the revelation of JBFA (see Ro. 1:17; 3:28; 4:5) -which accompanies grace alone in Christ alone as a descriptor of justification before God, is to reject the perfect, substitutionary, and finished work of Christ's shed blood. This error would mean you are rejecting the free gift of his imputed righteousness and salvation itself. “Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Cor. 15:33). Flee churches that teach salvation by works, sacramentalism, or law-keeping as a means of salvation and the truth will set you free!

SDAs do believe in salvation by faith through the grace of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, only. But that is Justification that occurs in a moment. After that comes Sanctification - a life-long process of allowing the Holy Spirit to develop a Christ-like character, including keeping the Ten Commandments (written by God on tablets of stone) . The apostle had subjected himself to trials. He had given himself to self-denial and toil; to persecution and want; to perils, and cold, and nakedness, and hunger. He had done this, among other things, to give his religion a fair trial, to see whether it would bear all these tests; as metal is cast into the fire to see whether it is genuine, or is base and worthless. In doing this, he had endeavored to subdue his corrupt propensities, and bring everything into captivity to the Redeemer, that it might be found that he was a sincere, and humble, and devoted Christian. Many have supposed that the word “cast-away” here refers to those who had entered the lists, and had contended, and who had then been examined as to the manner in which they had conducted the contest, and had been found to have departed from the rules of the games, and who were then rejected. But this interpretation is too artificial and unnatural. The simple idea of Paul is, that he was afraid that he should be disapproved, rejected, cast off; that it would appear, after all, that he had no religion, and would then be cast away as unfit to enter into heaven. But the content of the CoC’s version of faith constitutes works (things that are seen), whereas the substance that makes up a Christians faith is Christ Himself…. the evidence of what is not seen (Rom. 8:24-25, Heb. 11:1).

This kind of proto-restorationism in Presbyterianism is something that Lutherans always have refused. The Catholic Church certainly has a number of faults (like all religious groups), but at least it uses an authentic bible based on the hebrew-greek originals and it does not impose doctrine and allows believers to use their own free will and encourages free research, as is stated several times in the Bible on the subject of "false prophets". It also does not give false advice on health issues. It does not question God's word and does not make him into a senile old man with Alzheimer's whose words absolutely have to be renewed or constantly improved, which many cults presume to do and which is pure blasphemy.

Hello AD. I am hoping you receive this advice with curiosity and a yearning to learn. Pray to God to graciously show you the truth that you seek. Start with just one topic like the Saturday Sabbath mandate of the SDA's. If you want to be a Sabbath-keeper that's fine but the SDA's have made it a rule to live by and they damn everyone else who worship, not on the Saturday (the 7th day) but on Sunday (the first day of the week). You will want to study out Romans 14:5-6; Col. 2:14, 16; and Gal. 4:10. Know that the fist day of the week is marked out by the resurrection of our Lord (Acts 20:7-8; 1 Cor. 16:2; John 20:19). Living faith in Christ, not bondage, is what matters (Gal. 5:6; 6:15). The Bible blesses the man who regards "every day alike" (Ro. 14:5). This passage assumes a true believer only. In the following verse "He who regards the day" or DOES NOT regard as special the 7th day gives "thanks to God" and does so "unto the Lord." I hope this helps you in your journey friend, God Bless and let Scripture interpret Scripture.

That is the problem with protestant churches. Most christians are unaware that a large percentage of protestant churches claim to be "grace alone", but are actually just extensions of catholic dogma. Their statement of faith in reality is, "we are saved at the cross, but...." Then, they add their condition after the "but". I call them the "but teachers".
They will add "baptism in our church, perseverance, maintaining salvation, communion in our church, good works (although they never tell us how many or what kind of works)", and the list is endless. Only a small % of protestant churches are actually "grace" churches.
Members leave cults due to the burn-out from bondage, only to face more confusion from all the different denominations and utube preachers, teaching hundreds of different paths to salvation. It is enough to confuse the devil. Cult members turn to atheism out of frustration and despair.
Jesus says, "come unto me and I will give you rest". Rest? Rest? How can it be rest when someone is always looking over their shoulders wondering if they have done enough good works to merit salvation, wondering if they measure up, wondering if they met the good works quota, wondering if they somehow stumbled in faith, worrying that God will snatch away their salvation at any moment?
Rest? Rest? Sounds like hell to me. Churches have rejected the simplicity in Christ (2 Cor: 11:3).

SDA teaches an investigative judgement before knowing for certain that people are saved. (1 John 5: 13) teaches us that we can know we have eternal life (salvation) now. We do not have to wait until death to know we are saved. (1 John 5: 12) the preceeding verse tells us how we can know we are saved now, without waiting for death. It says that "he that hath the Son hath life". (Romans 8:1) tells us there is no condemnation (judgement) for those which are in Christ Jesus.

The 7th day Sabbath was a day of rest instituted by God, at the beginning of the earth, before sin entered the world. The Roman Emperor Constantine changed the Sabbath to Sunday in AD 321. Nowhere in the Bible does God say he changed the day. Jesus himself kept the 7th day Sabbath, even to the point of making sure he was buried before sunset on Friday and He rested in the tomb on the Sabbath, then rose from the dead on the first day of the week, Sunday.

@christrescued. Perhaps you could surmise the answer to your question, reading in Genesis, chapter 1:26-28 the 6th day of creation after the animals . 27)"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them."
Oh yes, one of the comments l'sol @ SDAs vegan diet; the subsequent verses:29-30 tells us what God Himself gives food details for man as well as animals.
      Genesis 2:1-3:
"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.2)And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work.3)And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it(set apart): because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made."
The Sabbath was made in the Garden of Eden before the Fall; therefore it is not a type because types were not intoduced until after the Fall. It was given to Adam, the head of the human race.
It is not a Jewish institution, since it existed at least 2300 years before there was ever a Jew.
The Bible never calls it the Jewish Sabbath although, the biggest cult , Roman Catholicism does.
We should be careful how to mention the seventh day sabbath because the Bible address it" the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.
Of the Sabbath Jesus said in Mark2:27-
27)"The sabbath was made for *man, and not man for the sabbath.
      28) Therefore "the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."
*So yes, if Jesus Christ not only gave it to Adam the first man , why? It stands to reason: yep, they observed the seventh day as a memorial of creation(God didn't need rest because does God get tired? I think not.)
Also confirmed is, the One who made it and gave it: the Lord of the sabbath - Jesus Christ.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. -John1:1

Differences in degree never meant a difference in substance (Acts 18:26, 2 Cor. 3:9-18).
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8). So the gospel has always been the same, for He is the very substance of the gospel (Psa. 119:89). He confirmed the eternality of the gospel at the cross.
Every aspect of salvation is a fact of eternity before it ever takes place in time (Rom. 8:28-30). The eternity of the cross reveals that O.T. saints were saved exactly the same way (through faith), and upon the exact same basis (God’s grace through Christ and His work) that every sinner throughout redemptive history has ever been saved, regardless of the different dispensations, and their different modes of regulation.
Because Jesus’ atonement was timeless. It covered the entire realm of time itself; past, present and future (Ps. 90:2, Acts 15:9, Eph. 1:10, Heb. 4:3, Rev. 13:8).
God’s everlasting covenant of salvation was concluded with Abraham BEFORE there was ever a temple, circumcision or the Law of Moses (Gal. 3:8, 16, Heb. 2:16, 8:10 and 11:18). Thus, those who belong to Christ are spiritual descendants of Abraham BY FAITH (Rom. 4, Gal. 3:14).
But the restoration cults have always taught the exact opposite… by proclaiming a different plan of salvation… a DIFFERENT GOSPEL that includes man's own works (legalistic sabbath keeping, etc.). And God has placed it, and those who promote it, under a divine curse (Gal. 1:6-9).

But only in Christ is there salvation. I was never told anything any different. We are saved by faith. But we are judged by works. If faith was all we needed, then who believes in Jesus more than Satan, who spoke to Him face to face? The demons who tormented the Gadarene man believed in Jesus enough to obey Him. Are they saved? Doubtful. The souls of the righteous ARE in Heaven, they can see and hear us, and John SAW them, crying out to Jesus in Revelation. If it were not so, the Bible would not say so.

God’s church was already in existence or else it could NOT have been renewed and added to (e.g., Gen. 28:17, Mt. 16:18-19; 18:17, Lk. 12:32, Acts 2:36, 47; 15:16). Moses was just a servant in God's house, but Jesus was a Son OVER God's house, EVEN THEN (Heb. 3:3-6), because Jesus has always been the Head of the church, His body, His sheep.
The church was founded upon faith in Jehovah (Jesus) from the very beginning (Ex. 6:2-3). Paul quoted Joel 2:32 in Rom. 10:13, to confirm the fact that Yahweh (or Jehovah) in the O.T. was the pre-incarnate Christ. And the new covenant is confirmation of God’s promises of His grace in Christ, through faith, that had been given to the church since the world began (Joel 2:32, Rom. 10:13, Heb. 8:8-9).
Since there has always been one Great Shepherd, He has always had one sheepfold (Jn. 10:16) throughout redemptive history; sometimes referred to as the church in the wilderness, God’s sanctuary, the house of Israel, the tabernacle of David, the heavenly Jerusalem, or the general assembly and church of just men made perfect, etc. (e.g., Ezek. 37: 26-27, Acts 7:38, Heb. 12:22-23).
So, a new state of the church beginning at Pentecost (the time of renewal), never meant an altogether “new church” (with “new terms of salvation”) that had never existed before. However, the CoC claims to be a “new church” that had never existed before, that supposedly began at Pentecost, which confirms the fact that it is, indeed, a heretical cult.

Unlike the ancient church in the Old Testament, worship is no longer restricted to a place, but is now acceptable to God to lift up holy hands to Him everywhere (Mal. 1:11, 1 Tim. 2:8).
Our worship is not restricted to a visible church system where even hypocrites and unbelievers can gather. Jesus is said to dwell among His people, as in a tabernacle (Jn. 1:14; 2:19, 1 Cor. 3:16; 6:19, Eph. 2:22; 3:17, Heb. 10:20, Rev. 11:2, 19; 21:3, 22), which is why we can worship God anywhere, anytime, and in any circumstance, for the Holy Spirit indwells us wherever we go....whether it's from "house to house" or on a lofty mountain top!
Jesus made it clear to the Samaritan women at the well, that the hour was coming, when God’s people would worship Him in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4:21-24),
for the Bible describes the body of Christ as being invisible, spiritual and mystical (i.e. Eph. 2:19-22; 5:32, 1 Pet. 2:4-10).
When the Samaritan woman at the well emphasized “places of worship” (in the mountains, and in Jerusalem), Jesus made it clear to her where true worship takes place, for we are to worship Him in spirit and in truth regardless of where we may be in this physical realm (Jn. 4:20-24).
True Christians have been spiritually baptized into the body of Christ, by the Holy Spirit, through faith (1 Cor. 12:13), which is why we can worship Him and be in spiritual union with other believers “in every place” (1 Cor. 1:2).
The true body of Christ is His sheep, eternally indwelled and sealed by the Holy Spirit Who never leaves them, despite the fact that they are often scattered by wolves in sheep’s clothing (such as the CoC), as a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

When one reads God’s Word, in context, it is clear that the names of true believers are written in heaven (Phil. 3:20, Rev. 3:5).

Calvinism is the Gospel. I have never heard of anyone reading Calvin's Institutes and refuting any of it. He mostly wrote to attempt to convince Roman Catholics . He wrote most of it not long after leaving the Catholic Church. Calvin's commentaries are more widely read. Calvin actually wrote only a few paragraphs on what is called "Calvinism" and it's not a detailed polemic with the now familiar Five Points. . What is termed "Calvinism" was developed after his death by others, mostly Dutch theologians. Even the TULIP is only about a hundred years old. The primary objection to "Calvinism" is the Biblical claim that God is fully sovereign in all things - no exceptions. Calvin never wrote as if anyone did not have a so called "freewill" in the moral sense - those in hell deserve to be there. Calvin was a grace teacher, he was not a determinist as is the focus of the false criticism against the man . Luther's On the Bondage of the Will is more "Calvinist" than anything John Calvin wrote.

We do not and cannot observe a legal, literal sabbath day, because Christ is our Sabbath, and we rest in him! In the New Testament epistles (Romans - Revelation), the sabbath is only mentioned in two places. It is mentioned in the four gospels and in the Book of Acts many times in connection with the Jews and Jewish worship. But in those Epistles that prescribe all ordinances of divine worship in this gospel age, it is mentioned in just two places (Col. 2:16-17; Heb. 4:3-9). Colossians 2:16-17 - “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” Here the Apostle Paul, writing by divine inspiration, forbids the observance of a legal sabbath day on the basis of the fact that in Christ every believer is completely, totally, entirely, and forever freed from the law (Rom. 7:4; 10:4). Hebrews 4:3-9 - “For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works…There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.” 308 308 The word “rest” in these verses is the word normally translated “sabbath.” Here we are told that all who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ keep the sabbath spiritually, truly keep the sabbath by faith in him. How do we keep the sabbath by faith? Just like our God kept the first sabbath. -- Coming to Christ, believing on the son of God, we cease from our works and rest in him. This is our Savior’s word of grace to poor, needy, troubled, heavy-laden sinners. - “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Are you saved before or after baptism? And who does the work? The coC will say not until you are baptized, and not until YOU do that work. But the Bible says that baptism is a working of God. (Col 2:12) You, therefore must be JUSTIFIED by FAITH and BORN OF THE SPIRIT IN ORDER for God to baptize you BY THE POWER OF HIS HOLY SPIRIT.
If you are still born of the flesh and are still "perishable" you cannot inherit the IMPERISHABLE. (1 Corinthians 15:50-58) You must therefore put your faith in the POWER OF GOD THROUGH HIS IMPERISHABLE SPIRIT to bring your dead perishable flesh from Spiritual death to IMPERISHABLE life.
Only someone that is SPIRITUALLY IMPERISHABLE can IMPART IMPERISHABLE LIFE AND TRANSFORM WHAT IS SPIRITUALLY DEAD INTO SOMETHING THAT HAS SPIRITUAL, ETERNAL LIFE. THEREFORE, dead human flesh can NEVER bring ITS OWN dead human flesh from spiritual death to Spiritual life.
Only the Spirit of the living God can take dry bones, dead in trespasses and rebellion against God, and make them spiritually alive (Ephesians 2:1-5).

Paul says Jesus came to save us from the condemnation of the Law, how can there be any condemnation from the law if the Law doesn't exist anymore? Without the Law, there is no sin, and that comes from Paul and John. Paul also says Sin is the breaking of the Law! When you are truly saved the Law begins to be perfected in us through the work of the Holy Spirit leading you each day to be more and more like Christ, eventually, those commandments are completely fulfilled in us like Christ.
So what you're saying is it's impossible to be 100% obedient to Christ? Or we can't take Paul at his word in Philippians 4:13?
The character of Christ will be fulfilled in those he comes back for, and Revelation says part of that character is the keeping of his commandments.
It also says the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. If prophecy like Daniel and Revelation wasn't so important to understanding the truth revelation wouldn't say this about the testimony of Jesus.

@@Elizabeth-rk3do Paul also, says the righteousness of Christ must be in us. Part of righteousness is to be Holy, it's impossible to be like Christ without the law being fulfilled in our own character as it was in Christ's.
SDA don't believe in keeping the commandments to be saved, we believe they begin to be fulfilled in your life when you actually are saved.
The new covenant was God's Laws written on the heart and mind of the believer. Or is Jeremiah 31:31-34 lying to us about what the new covenant with Israel and Judah would be?

@@Elizabeth-rk3do My question to you is, Did Jesus himself keep the commandments? Yes!
Paul says " Love is the fulfilling of the Law " You people need to understand that word fulfill, Christ loved perfectly.
When Jesus said the greatest 2 commandments are " Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, mind, and life, and the second is like it, Love thy neighbor as thyself " on these two commandments HANG THE WHOLE LAW and the prophets. Jesus was pointing out that the first 4 commandments are fulfilled in us when we Love him and the last 6 are fulfilled when we love our fellow man.
In retrospect, this is what Paul meant when he said Love is the fulfillment of the Law!

@@Elizabeth-rk3do Instead of mocking what we believe about the " Investigative Judgment " Why don't you go read or study it and why we believe it!
Stop doing the same thing other people do, which by the way is listening to other's or just reading a couple things about it.
Actually, go learn what we mean and believe about it! I used to be a Baptist my dear, I know fully well everything you're gonna try and hit me or any SDA with, I used to do it to them myself.
