    Very nice trees. I have realized that trees are one of the harder things for me.. Thank you for sharing .

      Just keep practicing..pretty soon they will be perfect! And make sure that you are only using the tip of the brush to start the top..then use more pressure and more of the brush as you come down. I apologize for being so late with this reply :)

    Hi Mary. Your painting is awesome. I have always been crafty but never painted before and at 59 years old decided I would like to try. I have searched youtube for acrylic artists and came across you. I think you have some of the most beautiful paintings of anyone on here and you make it look so easy! I tried the daisy's and boy do I need to practice! Thanks for the vidios and your web site with all your pictures of your paintings. I really enjoy looking at them. Wish you had more lessons online I could hook up to. Thanks again.

    thanks for the really pretty simple trees, I have been over thinking my painting, I painted for a lot for years and around 15 years ago got away from it for lack of time, trying to rediscover my love, I have subscribed to your channel and will be looking at more of your videos.

    I love fir trees and snow and this was a great little video to let me know how to create my own. Thank you so much. I always imagined trees would be hard to do but it's lovely to know even I can probably do this when I get my paints, which I have ordered. I have always drawn in pencil so paint is completely new for me. Hope I am Ok at it. This gives me some inspiration.

    Beautiful and looked so easy. I have been trying to paint a tree on a bread box all day long. Finally just painted over it and came to the computer to find someone to help me. Oh my I wish I had done this long ago. You make it look so easy. I am going to try it after I repaint my background. My cabinets are black so I have a black background on the breadbox. Now I will need to find another color that will work. I hope mine turns out as pretty as yours. Thanks so much for this wonderful You Tube video.

    Very nice...Thank You, Mary! Love your videos. Thank you for including the types of brushes and paint you are using. This is commonly left out in other videos and it is extremely important for beginners. BTW-For newbies, The paint, Folk Art can be purchased at Walmart for as little as $.50-$1.00 per 2 oz. bottle. Very inexpensive if you are just starting or have a small project.

    Hi, thank you very much for doing this tutorial. Looked at some other ones but finally get it from the way you explain it. I'm learning how to Airbrush and Spray can paint and your method of painting evergreen trees will hopefully help me a lot. I also need to get a better fan brush which should make it easier.

  • @DrawPaintColorArt
    @DrawPaintColorArt 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you Mary! I am new to painting and I am particularly interested in winter scenes and landscapes but I just could not master the trees! Your techniques were the complete opposite of what I was doing so now I'm dying to try it your PROPER way!
    I don't have a fan brush so I'll try the second method until I get one.
    Can't wait to try this now!

    • @marysart1
      @marysart1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so glad that you will try it..and please invest in a small fan brush as most of my students prefer to paint the trees with the fan and then use the other to highlight :)

    • @lisastephanija
      @lisastephanija 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely will. I was in the craft store tonight but they only had fan brushes for acrylics and oils, but tomorrow I'll go to the art supply store and get one for watercolours.
      Thanks again! I'll certainly be referring back to your tutorial more than a few times!

    • @marysart1
      @marysart1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lisa, I am using acrylic paint and you don't want to buy a fan brush for watercolors as it would be too soft. Just get the ones that are for acrylic/oil and you will do just fine :) I'm sorry for the confusion.

    Thanks so much for your video. I want to paint pine tree silhouettes on the sides of a cake. I think I will use the fan brush along with my liquid paste food color. The cake will be made of fondant with an aurora borealis theme as the background. I will definitely experiment first on a separate piece of fondant. I've piped pine trees on cakes before, but never painted them. Anything else that I need to know?

    Hello Mary,
    I love your tutortial, it helped me make some gorgeous trees! I have a problem with my brushes though. After the first time I used them (I bought the Royal 4 and 6 also have a 2) the bristles separate as soon as I put them in paint. I use Americana, Apple Barrel and Anita's acrylic paints and washed my brushes right after using them. Is this a problem with less expensive brushes or is it just me? I wonder if I ruined them by rinsing them in cleanwater and rubbing them against the bottom of the rinse bowl? I just can't seem to get the same great trees I got when the brushes were brand new. :( Thank you for your videos! I love them!

      +skymama7I am so glad you liked it! I am not sure if you are using the same royal brushes that I use. Mine are hard to find but I do order them from this site: www.artistpaintbrush.com/ Here are the numbers for the 2 brushes that I use in almost every painting. SG750-1/2 & the other is SG750 3/4. They will separate when you clean them but they will come back together when you add the paint and wipe back and forth. I would also suggest that you invest in a Bob ross fan brush from hobby lobby or michaels. It is more expensive but well worth it. I hope this will help you :)

    He was great wasn't he! The difference is that I am using acrylic and also I usually am double loading the brush :)
