Unpopular opinion. This is a great controller. I’ve owned it and used it to create many mixes which I’ve put out on my podcast. Most of the hate here is unjustified and unreasonable for the price. Having said that, I did upgrade to to a DJM S7 (with two Rane twelves) for a number of reasons…one of which being a desire to get balanced connections. My new setup was close to 4K and the flx6 does a lot of what it does for …600.

This controller has four channels, but the 3rd and 4th channel can only be used via the buttons on the controller. The only input tot the controller is a 6.3mm jack microphone and a USB for connecting your laptop/pc. It also only has RCA outputs, but it does have a Master output and a Booth output.
Traktor could NEVER be dead even WITHOUT trying to "keep up with the trends". In FACT, as a SOFTWARE, it's ALWAYS been light years ahead of the competition. Even with Stem Play. Only "difference" is VDJ and Serato have "built-in" extractors. And even THAT is limited to LIVE PLAY. They don't SAVE as a 4-Part file.
Colour FX, would be more useful tho than Merge FX, I would choose NS4 FX Over this. I already got Mixtrak Platinum FX with full Performance by Using Virtual DJ and I am absolutely happy with it, VDJ has been a part of my DJ activities since I started back in 2014 Planning to purchase the NS4, plug it in to VDJ

slight correction which is important, the NS4FX has XLR ouputs.... So with the FLX6 you need them, you need or a external mixer, or a DI box. a good hardware can easily cost the license of SDJ + pitch and play. Serato DJ lite is perfectly fine to start, just buy a 20 bucks soundcard to record your set and you are done. So at the end, i slightly favor the NS4FX.
@@digitaldjtips i am sorry to tell, but using SDJ lite with XLR outputs will feel much more pro than using a SDJ pro with a DIbox. now, speaking about features-to-value, most dj's ive seen use sync,loops, EQ and echo out effects, absolutely NOTHING else. i am not saying FLX6 is a bad proposition, just saying that NS4FX should be there if you are not interested in so many features but you want to be able to connect easily to PA without buying a portable mixer which isn't that cheap.

I don't think it's bad, but the 1000 and FLX10 is way more expensive, so if you want to use 4 decks, gotta get used to the FLX6. NOw it comes with Serato Pro and Rekordbox unlocked, with no additional cost, what i consider a cool thing.

If anyone is thinking of using Traktor, you should know there's something wrong with Native Instruments. Unless someone has a special way to do it, they can't be contacted. Its like they don't exist. I have a brand new Maschine MK3 that can't be used. Its a brick. NI has to do unlock the serial number (or something similar), in order for the unit to work. I can't give any more information than that because they simply give you no way to contact them. The best you can do is run through the automated troubleshooting on their website and lie your way through the options until you get a box that allows you to type something. I spent over $800 and all I have is a box that will most likely be thrown in the garbage just so I don't have to think about it anymore.
@AT1272 Sounds like you're trying to authorize something you bought 2nd hand? There's no reason the software shouldn't unlock with the native access app if you have a legit license. If this is the case, the person you bought from would have to deactivate the software from their account and transfer it to you. What exactly is your situation... did you buy from an authorized seller or off Ebay or something? Don't throw away the controller since it can be sold or donated!
@@slapopimp I never buy anything used. It was factory sealed and I bought it from Guitar Center. Its the biggest music store in the US. I can't sell it to someone because they will have the same problem I have.
@@AT-wl9yq I've bought plenty of merch from GC over the years, so I know about them. They also restock returns. The few times I returned a product, I returned it in pristine factory condition. Products that include software like maschine, where someone returned it, will likely have registered the device. Even if it's not a return, all someone needs is the serial number to the hardware to get a copy of the software. Someone could've dirty snatched your serial. Maschine doesn't need the controller to be used. FYI: You can sell the controller to someone that already owns the software that may want to upgrade from an older controller or lost theirs.
@@slapopimp The box was sealed, and I was the first one to open it. However, I did forget to mention GC did tell me there was no returning it once it left the store. I asked them could I bring it back if I got home and find something wrong with it. They said no, and we opened it right there in the store and tried it. Everything looked good. To be honest, I wasn't too concerned because NI is a well known company and I would be more concerned with GC. They haven't been doing well these last few years. What you said in your last post is all correct. Even if there was some issue with the serial number, I have a receipt and the product as proof. They could even verify it with GC. The problem is, you just can't contact NI. Its impossible. The closest thing you can get to customer service is automated troubleshooting on the website. I worked my way through all the menus until I got to a box that lets you type in the issue. I gave them all the information, several times. They simply won't make contact with me. I' m sure someone on their end could resolve the issue with the push of a button.

To be honest, I think this is the first ever Pioneer controller compatible with Tractor. Some licensing deal must have been made. Pioneer never allowed Traktor on their gear as far as I know. That's a new thing, for sure.
Nah, it's just a bog standard mapping, sadly not a very good one at that. Funnily enough, one of the very first controllers Pioneer DJ launched was for Traktor back in the day, I forget its name.
The Traktor mapping is unfortunately underwhelming. You could make any controller do what this does by mapping it yourself to Traktor. The jogs sadly perform badly in Traktor, for instance.
I personally have the FLX-6 and mix Drum & Bass, I rarely use any effects (especially not the large merge Fx buttons). I got one for 500 euro, right before the -GT version was released. So as I wanted to upgrade my older 2 channel ddj-400, This fitted within my price-range and satisfies my needs. (I mix at home for an online radio station, and play at small house raves with it. Here is works perfect, so issues there). As the controller is mostly plastic, it does have a nice feel to the buttons, faders and jock-wheels. For the price compared to other (more high end) 4 channel controllers, I do not regret buying it at all.
Why Pioneer won't listen to their customers about what the first version of the Flx6 needed?, and they came out with a midgrade controller Flx6 GT. I'll wait for the upgrade. XLR and info in jog wheels 8:27
JUST for playing at home and if you can cope with the build quality, this one is OK, but the DDJ-800 (although no longer made) is a much more accomplished controller.
I have couple of questions… I upgraded from SB3 to FLX6 but honestly I feel more confident so far on SB3, I was very excited that I can have 2 outputs but for some reason the booth output didn’t work at the same time with the master out. So is it either or?? Am I doing something wrong? Is it related to the software? I’m using virtual DJ. Also I downloaded the rekordbox but then I realized that I will be loosing all my hot cues saved on virtual DJ. Is there anyway to transfer this to rekordbox? Lastly, I feel the jogwheel here in flx6 is a bit less sensitive than sb3. When I wanna set an accurate hot cue, it doesn’t allow me to move smoothly and it jumps over the waveform not in milliseconds. Thanks for ur support always❤

What do you mean? the hardware? No, it is not club quality equipment and clubs use "separates" (CDJS, DJMs). The software? Rekordbox/Pioneer DJ already is, arguably.
I am the happy owner of a FLX4, I am waiting to the new android app. But in the future I would like to upgrade for a 4channel. FLX6 brings this to a cheaper price for pioneer standarts, but it looks like a FLX4+2, its cheaper for 4channel but not as good for a more advanced dj. Personally I would like a ddj-1000 replacement in FLX . The FLX 4 replaced the 400 that got released in 2018 but also the 1000 was released in 2018. FLX10 in 2023? The 800 was in 19 so I believe they will release it after 1000 replacement. @digitaldjtips do you have some info for the flx line?
That defeats the object of XLRs which are balanced cables, meaning they can run distortion-free audio over a longer distance, hence why they're added to pro gear.

Fisher price dj controller vol.2 !!! i am so disappointed with pioneer, they are ripping us off flx4-flx6 gt exactly the same hardware as the previous models, the build quality is very low compared to the competition and their price is unbelievably expensive in the case of the flx6 (gt)! I bought the flx6 when its price was 500€ and I only kept it for two days, absolute RUBBISH, the worst controller pioneer has produced, I wonder why there are people who buy it at 650-700€. the only positive thing... i hope this is the first step and pioneer releases hardware again for the traktor, i still have the Ddj-t1 in my collection, it has served me for almost 10 years without any problems, for me it still remains a one of the best controllers for traktor, incredible controller !!I wish the new Ddj-1000 is absolutely 100% compatible with traktor. that would be the ultimate win-win-win deal for me. tractor-rekordbox-ddj 1000 !
As we say at the bottom of the piece, which for us too this isn't our favourite Pioneer DJ hardware by any means, we do approve of the direction, ie making all gear work with all systems.

The unit isn't stellar (never was). But I think the move for Pioneer DJ to even consider officially supporting more DJ software from other vendors (Native Instruments, Atomix Productions) for their hardware is somewhat a big deal! No more being locked-in to RekordBox, when there are a considerable size crowd that just love their Traktor or VDJ software. But what I am wondering or this is a one-time thing, or a policy change within the company; or at least for their future "FLX"-series.
Honestly, the FLX6 feels flimsy and cheap... For the price, I don't think its worth it... Almost bought it, bought a Rev1 instead... Going to buy the DDJ800 next... Id rather spend on quality rather than Hype...
I agree that the FLX-6 feels a plasticy, like the entry controllers. However, it does feel more robust in my opinion than the ddj-400 for example. I bought the (non -GT) right before this one got on the market and got it on sale for 500 euro's. For that price I am very happy with the controller as I really needed a 3rd channel for my drum & bass mixes as my previous 2 channel controller was getting in the way of keeping the flow going in my mixes. For me, and what/where I use it (mostly at home for online radio, or at small house raves,) this controller performs great, however I do agree about the downside of not having an XLR output. I would say that 650 (which they sell for now) is a bit steep, I feel my discounted price makes it worth it though, as the FLX-4 is priced at 319 euro's, the extra 181 I spend to have 4 channels is definetly worth it for me. However, if anyone is looking for a better build quality controller with 4 channels from pioneer the DDJ-1000 is a good option. The -1000 is not really for sale at many places anymore though, as it is being relaced by the new FLX-10 (Basically the same controller, but some updated features opposed the the -1000). It does come with a steep price of 1649 euro, which is a bit crazy for me to spend. If I were do spend that type of money I would save up a but more and directly go for XDJ-XZ (4 channel, stand-alone controller) which comes at around 2500 euro.
Pioneer usually fucks up everything with these tiny faders. I know that this is a deliberate choice, and it is also the reason why I will not buy this controller.
@digitaldjtips it would be cool to find something with 4 channels in the same price range with normal sized faders. The Numark looks nice, but it doesn't have gain LEDs...
Ah I see Pioneer dj is doubling down on one of their biggest mistakes. This feels like a business move to bring in extra income to support the lack of "better" equipment being in stock. I'm almost 100% positive that if we weren't in the situation we're in, we would have gotten a true mid-range controller.
According to their website it's "new" And of course we all know it's just the same controller wrapped differently (with the tractor exception). But this is why I'm personally not a fan of pioneer dj. It just feels like they're releasing more products for the sake of releasing more products.

Some websites are still reviewing the DDJ-400 and DDJ-SB3 as if they were new. On the other hand: Traktor hasn't had any hardware updates, and only recently the software has gotten updates and NI doing subscription features for Traktor.

So many people make a big deal over the XLR jacks for absolutely no reason. In order for XLR connectors to do what people think they do, 3 things need to be in place. The cable has to be balanced, and both components have to be balanced. Unless you have all that, using the XLR jacks are identical to using RCA cables. 95%+ of the time, this is the case. I have a DDJ1000 with XLR connectors and that's not balanced either. People just think it is. If you have a rare case where you actually need balanced outputs to make the unit compatible with something like a high end mixer that really does have balanced inputs, you still have nothing to worry about. Use a DI box. That's what they make them for. And its a better solution because the parts quality is much higher. Unbalanced XLR = RCA. When only 2 of the 3 pins are used, you have a single ended connection.

The point I was trying to make is 99% of the time when people connect this type of equipment using the XLR jacks, its no different than using RCA cables. There's other requirements that have to be met in order to get the benefit you think you're getting.

I loved my FLX6. It is a great beginner controller. I learnt a lot about Pioneer gear and how it works.

To be honest, I think this is the first ever Pioneer controller compatible with Tractor. Some licensing deal must have been made. Pioneer never allowed Traktor on their gear as far as I know. That's a new thing, for sure.
Nah, it's just a bog standard mapping, sadly not a very good one at that. Funnily enough, one of the very first controllers Pioneer DJ launched was for Traktor back in the day, I forget its name.

The Traktor mapping is unfortunately underwhelming. You could make any controller do what this does by mapping it yourself to Traktor. The jogs sadly perform badly in Traktor, for instance.

All DJ controllers can do that, so you're good whatever you choose.
I personally have the FLX-6 and mix Drum & Bass, I rarely use any effects (especially not the large merge Fx buttons). I got one for 500 euro, right before the -GT version was released. So as I wanted to upgrade my older 2 channel ddj-400, This fitted within my price-range and satisfies my needs. (I mix at home for an online radio station, and play at small house raves with it. Here is works perfect, so issues there). As the controller is mostly plastic, it does have a nice feel to the buttons, faders and jock-wheels.
For the price compared to other (more high end) 4 channel controllers, I do not regret buying it at all.
Illuminated jogs are always good.

Why Pioneer won't listen to their customers about what the first version of the Flx6 needed?, and they came out with a midgrade controller Flx6 GT. I'll wait for the upgrade. XLR and info in jog wheels 8:27

JUST for playing at home and if you can cope with the build quality, this one is OK, but the DDJ-800 (although no longer made) is a much more accomplished controller.

I have couple of questions…
I upgraded from SB3 to FLX6 but honestly I feel more confident so far on SB3, I was very excited that I can have 2 outputs but for some reason the booth output didn’t work at the same time with the master out. So is it either or?? Am I doing something wrong? Is it related to the software? I’m using virtual DJ.
Also I downloaded the rekordbox but then I realized that I will be loosing all my hot cues saved on virtual DJ. Is there anyway to transfer this to rekordbox?
Lastly, I feel the jogwheel here in flx6 is a bit less sensitive than sb3. When I wanna set an accurate hot cue, it doesn’t allow me to move smoothly and it jumps over the waveform not in milliseconds.

Your audio settings will need fixing in Virtual DJ. Their forum should be able to help you. I think the rest is just a case of getting used to it.

What do you mean? the hardware? No, it is not club quality equipment and clubs use "separates" (CDJS, DJMs). The software? Rekordbox/Pioneer DJ already is, arguably.

I am the happy owner of a FLX4, I am waiting to the new android app. But in the future I would like to upgrade for a 4channel.
FLX6 brings this to a cheaper price for pioneer standarts, but it looks like a FLX4+2, its cheaper for 4channel but not as good for a more advanced dj.
Personally I would like a ddj-1000 replacement in FLX .
The FLX 4 replaced the 400 that got released in 2018 but also the 1000 was released in 2018. FLX10 in 2023?
The 800 was in 19 so I believe they will release it after 1000 replacement.

That defeats the object of XLRs which are balanced cables, meaning they can run distortion-free audio over a longer distance, hence why they're added to pro gear.

Fisher price dj controller vol.2 !!! i am so disappointed with pioneer, they are ripping us off flx4-flx6 gt exactly the same hardware as the previous models, the build quality is very low compared to the competition and their price is unbelievably expensive in the case of the flx6 (gt)! I bought the flx6 when its price was 500€ and I only kept it for two days, absolute RUBBISH, the worst controller pioneer has produced, I wonder why there are people who buy it at 650-700€.
the only positive thing... i hope this is the first step and pioneer releases hardware again for the traktor, i still have the Ddj-t1 in my collection, it has served me for almost 10 years without any problems, for me it still remains a one of the best controllers for traktor, incredible controller !!I
wish the new Ddj-1000 is absolutely 100% compatible with traktor. that would be the ultimate win-win-win deal for me. tractor-rekordbox-ddj 1000 !
As we say at the bottom of the piece, which for us too this isn't our favourite Pioneer DJ hardware by any means, we do approve of the direction, ie making all gear work with all systems.

The unit isn't stellar (never was). But I think the move for Pioneer DJ to even consider officially supporting more DJ software from other vendors (Native Instruments, Atomix Productions) for their hardware is somewhat a big deal!
No more being locked-in to RekordBox, when there are a considerable size crowd that just love their Traktor or VDJ software.
But what I am wondering or this is a one-time thing, or a policy change within the company; or at least for their future "FLX"-series.

Honestly, the FLX6 feels flimsy and cheap... For the price, I don't think its worth it... Almost bought it, bought a Rev1 instead... Going to buy the DDJ800 next... Id rather spend on quality rather than Hype...
We tend to agree, unfortunately.
I agree that the FLX-6 feels a plasticy, like the entry controllers. However, it does feel more robust in my opinion than the ddj-400 for example. I bought the (non -GT) right before this one got on the market and got it on sale for 500 euro's. For that price I am very happy with the controller as I really needed a 3rd channel for my drum & bass mixes as my previous 2 channel controller was getting in the way of keeping the flow going in my mixes.
For me, and what/where I use it (mostly at home for online radio, or at small house raves,) this controller performs great, however I do agree about the downside of not having an XLR output.
I would say that 650 (which they sell for now) is a bit steep, I feel my discounted price makes it worth it though, as the FLX-4 is priced at 319 euro's, the extra 181 I spend to have 4 channels is definetly worth it for me.
However, if anyone is looking for a better build quality controller with 4 channels from pioneer the DDJ-1000 is a good option. The -1000 is not really for sale at many places anymore though, as it is being relaced by the new FLX-10 (Basically the same controller, but some updated features opposed the the -1000). It does come with a steep price of 1649 euro, which is a bit crazy for me to spend. If I were do spend that type of money I would save up a but more and directly go for XDJ-XZ (4 channel, stand-alone controller) which comes at around 2500 euro.

No, with hindsight the Traktor mapping for this is very poor - not recommended.
Pioneer usually fucks up everything with these tiny faders. I know that this is a deliberate choice, and it is also the reason why I will not buy this controller.
In our view there are better reasons not to buy this controller, it hasn't turned out to be one of our favourites - but some do love it!
@digitaldjtips it would be cool to find something with 4 channels in the same price range with normal sized faders. The Numark looks nice, but it doesn't have gain LEDs...
Ah I see Pioneer dj is doubling down on one of their biggest mistakes. This feels like a business move to bring in extra income to support the lack of "better" equipment being in stock. I'm almost 100% positive that if we weren't in the situation we're in, we would have gotten a true mid-range controller.

@@Pokarookris It gives the appearances on the surface of staying relevant and in the news cycle and social media reviews. Some websites are still reviewing the DDJ-400 and DDJ-SB3 as if they were new.
On the other hand: Traktor hasn't had any hardware updates, and only recently the software has gotten updates and NI doing subscription features for Traktor.
Still trashy. No XLR/TRS, no Aux-In, short pitch faders, silly MergeFX, all plastic, subpar Serato integration, etc... for 600 bucks, no thank you.

These flex controllers are garbage no XLR's for the price it's ridiculous💩
So many people make a big deal over the XLR jacks for absolutely no reason. In order for XLR connectors to do what people think they do, 3 things need to be in place. The cable has to be balanced, and both components have to be balanced. Unless you have all that, using the XLR jacks are identical to using RCA cables. 95%+ of the time, this is the case. I have a DDJ1000 with XLR connectors and that's not balanced either. People just think it is.
If you have a rare case where you actually need balanced outputs to make the unit compatible with something like a high end mixer that really does have balanced inputs, you still have nothing to worry about. Use a DI box. That's what they make them for. And its a better solution because the parts quality is much higher.
Unbalanced XLR = RCA. When only 2 of the 3 pins are used, you have a single ended connection.
The vast majority of people DJing in their bedroom don’t need XLR.
@@Ronniezim That's true, but I wasn't really talking about people in their bedrooms. I was talking about everyone. The point I was trying to make is 99% of the time when people connect this type of equipment using the XLR jacks, its no different than using RCA cables. There's other requirements that have to be met in order to get the benefit you think you're getting.

All pioneers products suck pioneer cnt even fix there own equipment its true i had 4 pioneer cd burners cost me 600.each and brought them to be fixed and they couldnt fix them .
