Rosie mentioned that one reason she preferred this mini car is because unlike a motorcycle you at least have some metal around you. Maybe. Have you checked that? There's a similarly sized French vehicle, the Citroën Ami, which has a plastic body. The Ami isn't classified as a car in France, it's called a quadricycle but it does basically the same city runabout job as this car though its power and range are less.
The E200 is made of metal and not plastic like the Ami you mentioned. Which gives it that layer of protection and classifies this as a car on Chinese roads. You can take it on the motorway if you wish as it has a top speed of a little over 100 km/h. I’ve seen quite a few of these making longer trips between cities when I was in China. Not sure I would use it for that purpose, but some people are.
Only my own personal opinion: Definitely NOT for BIG and TALL people but okay for smaller regular sized folks, it would not be suitable for highway travel. Big trucks should stay out of inner suburban roads as they will not be able to spot such a small vehicle and will be a danger to them. What I think the mini car will be good for are regular sized people doing short haul runs in inner suburbs to get their weekly shopping done (will probably need a slightly bigger rear end boot though) and/or inner suburb commute to work and home. It will save on traffic congestion for sure , provide some shelter from rainy days when one has to go out but will not be advisable in heavy weather though and replace the motorcycle which is more exposed. However, like the motorcycle, the mini-car will afford just a marginal extra safety in a crash. The little space inside will not provide for much protection and unlike a motorcycle where the rider could be thrown clear in a collision, the mini-car occupant will be trapped inside and crushed - which is not a nice prospect. Overall, it is a cheap mode of transport that will provide some protection against the elements and a small degree of comfort for regular, small to medium height and sized occupants for short haul travel around inner suburban roads devoid of large vehicles that can blow such vehicles over simply by passing them at speed through air turbulence.
Yea it is but with a bigger battery and longer range. Plus the Baojun is not getting discontinued like the Toyota and parent company Wuling already released the updated E300 version of the vehicle. I totally agree would like ro have one too. Thanks for watching!
It becomes a sports car if Rosie is alone. Small car, weight matters. Like I had a moped that can get from 0 to 100.kmh in 5s, but with a passenger, it struggles to go uphill.
But I have to say that even with the both of us it was quite nimble…I can only imagine how much more nimble it would be with only Rosie behind the wheel.

This is because subcontracted parts manufacturers are forced to demand lower prices, and the quality of parts is not improving. I thought that the quality of Chinese cars would eventually improve, just like Japanese cars did in the past, but although Chinese products have evolved from low-tech to high-tech, they have not improved in reliability like Japanese cars.
It’s still too soon to say if Chinese cars have improved their reliability. It took Japanese and Korean manufacturers a number of years to produce price competitive vehicles that were also of good quality and reliability. I still remember one of my cousins driving a Hyundai Excel and it was a horrible car. But now we look at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and many say this is the benchmark of what EVs should be. In a few years we will say the same about Chinese manufacturers like Nio, Xpeng and Zeekr.

Smart fortwo didn't sell in Australia. Most people here at least want seating in the back for children or the occasional adult. So no, I don't think it would have much of a market here.
@@Anonymous------ No. But the mostly young men I see on motorcycles are probably not a likely market for an electric micro car. It looks like a car some retired people might like if they don't have to transport grandchildren.
This would cost far more than the Ami if imported into Europe or the UK. The Dongfeng Nanobox is the same price in China, rebadged as the Dacia Spring it sells at £15000 to £17000 in the UK. Unfortunately shipping and import duties take their toll.
With the current tariffs and duties that many countries have levied on Chinese made EVs, prices in these markets will be much higher than what they sell for in China. Which is a shame as we need more of these small affordable EVs.
@@LeftCoastEV The UK has not put any protectionist tariffs on chinese vehicles but yes they do tend to cost more but the small cars need to be £10k or less.
@@tivvy-xf4kz Once transport and import duties are applied, in the UK there are no four wheeled vehicles capable of speeds higher than 28 mph under £15000. You can buy Chinese vehicles, import and register them yourself, it then works out even more expensive.
You hope you could buy that in Canada ? Good luck with that . Canada has put a 100 % tariff on all Chinese EV cars . Trudeau said he did it to protect the Canadian EV industry Only problem is Canada DOESN’T HAVE A EV INDUSTRY There is only ONE EV car currently made in Canada the 100 grand Dodge Charger Muscle car . The government is doing this also to keep the US happy and make sure they don't shut down the plants in Ontario. They also know that none of the legacy car makers are able to do what the Chinese are doing.

Nobody will be paying the tariffs cause there will be no cars imported to buy . If by chance they do bring some in at double price the Government will say we must ban because they spy on you . Does it have an app? How does the horn sound? Does it have Bluetooth? Android auto?
No app. Yes there is a horn, very important feature of a Chinese car. There is Bluetooth but no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
A tablet and a big Bluetooth speaker cost no more than $99. 😂
Especially in China.
I wonder if it is good enough for the highway in Canada.
Our friend who owns this car drives regularly on Chinese highways that have a speed limit of 120 km/h. She said she can do 110 km/h tops and it’s OK. I wouldn’t take it on a highway myself, but as an urban car it would be perfect.
is there Air-con?
Of course it has air conditioning.
Smart fortwo didn't sell in Australia. Most people here at least want seating in the back for children or the occasional adult. So no, I don't think it would have much of a market here.
But motorcycles and scooters have? 😂
@@Anonymous------ Scooters hardly any. But motorcycles? Maybe you have a point. Perhaps they should set up their dealership next to the Harley shop? 😊
@@rais1953
Most motorcyclists don't own a Harley.
@@Anonymous------ No. But the mostly young men I see on motorcycles are probably not a likely market for an electric micro car. It looks like a car some retired people might like if they don't have to transport grandchildren.
@@rais1953
Many motorcyclists ride motorcycles because of economic reasons, they can't afford to buy cars.
f they could sell it for this price in the UK I'm sure they would sell well. It certainly is miles ahead of the Citroen Ami for a similar price.
@@tivvy-xf4kz Good to know that the UK is sensible in this aspect and has no protectionist policies in place.
Trudeau said he did it to protect the Canadian EV industry
Only problem is Canada DOESN’T HAVE A EV INDUSTRY
There is only ONE EV car currently made in Canada the 100 grand Dodge Charger Muscle car .
But Dodge is owned by a European company it is not Canadian.
I suppose as a Canadian if you want to help Canadians working the Windsor plant for the EU company you could buy that extremely expensive and extremely fast Dodge Charger but that would be your only choice for made in Canada EV cars .
The government is doing this also to keep the US happy and make sure they don't shut down the plants in Ontario. They also know that none of the legacy car makers are able to do what the Chinese are doing.
@@LeftCoastEV Yes obviously considering Canada doesn’t have even one Canadian EV car company only foreign companies clearly Uncle Sam said no Chinese EV for you .
Many Tesla EV sold in Canada are made in China the supply will have to be switched to the USA can’t see Canadians paying double for the Tesla.
They did a survey and 75 % of Canadians want the Chinese EV kept out of Canada .
So Canadians do not want more affordable choices even though in 10 years they will only be allowed to buy electric ?
At 100 % tariff it is not a tariff it is a total ban on Chinese EV
The Chinese aren’t stupid they haven’t imported their cars to Canada yet they definitely will not waste their time importing when they double in price.
Nobody will be paying the tariffs cause there will be no cars imported to buy .
If by chance they do bring some in at double price the Government will say we must ban because they spy on you .
Freeland has even said they will keep Chinese manufacturers out of Canada if they try to set up shop .
But they must do what Uncle Sam says
USA = P Diddy
Canada = Justin Bieber
I thought the Baojun E100 was tiny but nvm
❤😊 just a sort of car I'd like maybe with a bit more power and a little bit more quality 😊 We should all be going lighter smaller arrow dynamic 😎 #buzzofftoxic ❤
👍🏻
Thanks for watching!
Well with your size it is a one person car. Better hope the battery does not catch you might have a hard time getting out
It’s very rare that batteries catch on fire but nonetheless thank you I’ll make sure I am totally safe.
Why can't we get cars like that in Europe?
Because Europe is worried you won’t buy European cars anymore if the market is full of cheap Chinese alternatives. They are tying to protect their legacy auto industry.
Laotoule are very interesting
They are but traditionally have only 3 wheels. This one has 4 so it’s a new generation of laotoule lol.
It's not the Baojun E200 Mini EV. It's the Baojun E200 NANO EV (see Wikipedia). Get it right haha
Ok sorry! I will do better next time lol.
Apart from been a Chinese EV a small EV for city driving ideal the only use for an EV perfect and its no a pretty car but one thing driving this EV at least you don't have to look it put this small EV next to an awful Nissan Juke this small EV would look pretty good😊
Haha I agree with you about the Nissan Juke, very ugly car!
@@LeftCoastEV l personally think that if you think you have an ugly car park it next to a Nissan Juke and your ugly car starts to look pretty good the Nissan Juke should be a sort of scale for car ugliest
How would I buy one from the USA? Buy from China. Export it to the USA?
Right now with the tariffs and import rules impossible to import this to the US. Maybe it will change in the future.
Where is Rosie from? She does not look nor sound like a local Chinese.
She is from Liuzhou in Guangxi province so for sure she is Chinese. But when we travelled in Thailand people thought she is Thai lol.
@@LeftCoastEVI would have guessed she’s Thai or to a lesser degree, Vietnamese.
It would be much better with bigger tires, these one look ridiculous
There are many aftermarket parts and accessories you can buy for these and make them look how you want for cheap.
5000 usd 100 miles range whereeeeeee
In China.
@@LeftCoastEV crap taxes here are high on imports
you two are cute
Haha thanks appreciate it.
why cameraman laugh 🤪
She found it funny how hard it was for a fat guy like me to get into the small car hahaha!
Too funny. That's a very small car
Yup it's tiny but in the city it was nimble and super fun. If you get a chance to drive one of these little cars, do it!
@@LeftCoastEV I hired a Ora Black Cat for a day and think that I have enough video for a YT clip. Bloody seat padding in it was really bad so it felt like you were sitting on a fence. Had a sore ass for days. 🤣 Definitely a gay car 🤣🤣🤣
Haha just subscribed to your TH-cam channel will have a look at your car videos.
There are loads of much better FOUR-seater sub-$10,000 micro-cars - all too disruptive to be allowed to be imported into ultra-protectionist US/EU/Western markets. And the host needs to lose a lot of weight - get far more exercise - get and use an ebike or cargo ebike for instance....
Paul G
Thanks for the comments about my weight. Noted that I need to lose a few pounds haha. Thanks for watching.
@@LeftCoastEV I could have been more tactful - but how's about also trying out a lightweight minimal-meat Chinese diet not just their tasty EVs - we all know how thin/slim/energized most Chinese people are. Yep - thin slim smallish people now seem to be beating big people and giants at most things that really matter...
This car was not built for large framed Caucasian like you ,( I am not hating you about it)...it was built for the smaller framed Asians and this why so small
Don’t worry no offence taken I was already called fat by someone in another comment haha! Totally understandable that the size of vehicle fits the intended demographic. Thanks for watching!
I am 5’8, 158.. white boy.
Death trap?
俗称:接孙子车
很贴切的俗称,我朋友用来接送孩子的,也可以称为“接娃🪆车”。
拉猪用
These are glorified golf buggies that are skirting regulations by being sold as such or mobility scooters. For all the great chinese cars you also get endless junk like that
This car the way it’s built would never be able to be sold anywhere but China. But still fun to drive in city traffic haha!
this is not, this is a proper really small car
i would buy one just for going out buy food and doing chores nearby but wont ever be available where i am
This is exactly what it’s made for…city driving to do daily tasks. You wouldn’t really be taking it on road trips.
