One of my favorite anime duos. Even moreso due to Asuna being someone who wasn't a gamer, picked up SAO on a whim, and became one of the top players of SAO.
Man finaly both progressive movies come to germany in cinema next 2 months. I already watched this one, but i dont care. Ill watch them with a friend Group again. Im hyped

Read the novel, watched the anime, never watched this. Can someone explain who the scythe woman is, why she's giving Asuna a new weapon in the middle of battle, and why isn't she a double-sided axe wielding huge black man that may or may not be called Tiffany?
This is from the movie, Sword art online progressive: Aria of a starless night and the woman with scythe is Tozawa Misumi. She's a movie only character. She doesn't line up with the canon of the light novel. The movie is aired since 2021 October. Go check it out if you haven't, it's an amazing movie.

Why don’t you like it? It was pretty cool in this version because we witness some of kiritos characteristics not explored in season 1 since he’s always helping others. More specifically him and Asuna and their flaws before later seasons. Kirito arrives as a nervous nerdy kid with trauma from his choices who’s also a loner. Asuna struggles remembering her family and with the fact of the standard she always has been held to plus a friend betrayal. On top of that the scene where they yell switch and Kirito smirks before using his final sword skill on the boss always sends shivers down my spine

This version of SAO actually has good personalities for the characters…they shouldn’t have skipped 90% of the games content to begin with
