while there was 6 girls in the mv, newjeans is made up of only five girls! minji (19), hanni (18), danielle (18), haerin (17) and hyein (15). they debuted in 2022 and basically just took the world by storm with their music.
the ditto storyline is an allegory for parasocial relationships. in this case from the fan’s perspective. the girl with the cast (who is an a renowned actor and not apart of newjeans) goes by the name of ban heesoo. she represents newjeans fans, bunnies. the korean pronunciation of “bunnies” sounds very similar to ban heesoo. side b is followed by side a and then is concluded with their next single, omg that follows this paradigm of relationships from the celebrity’s side. all in all, ditto and omg highlight the group and fans’ struggles, the coldness of reality, and at times an unhealthy co-dependence on each other.
You have heard of this song covered by Fujikaze. He sung this song at his Asia tour held in Soul which you reacted. They are a group of five. I like this song very much(^▽^)/

Это как авторское корейское кино. Рассказ о фанатке Бан Хесу, у которой смысл жизни стэнить группу. Бан Хесу созвучно с Баннис, фандомом группы. Поэтому она живёт в своем вымышленном мирке, где мемберки группы её лучшие подруги. Парень символизирует реальность, которую она избегает. Олень символизирует осознание и выбор. Надо еще посмотреть Side B. Там она постепенно отдаляется от фанатства, в конце выбирает реальность и уходит с парнем. Потом находит старую кассету включает видео и на время возвращается в юность. Есть еще как бы продолжение истории, клип OMG. Там уже история об айдолах, о том, как они теряют себя в стремлении быть теми, кем они не являются, а теми, кем хотят их видеть фанаты. Поэтому они все в психушке. В конце показывается, что весь мир это сплошная ненормальность
Рекомендую еще Cool With You. Там современная версия античной истории о запретной любви Психеи и Купидона. Там тоже sides A and B

The school in the video is Gyeseong Middle School, my alma mater. Founded in 1906 by American missionary Adams, it was the first Western-style school in Korea. During the Japanese colonial period, Korea held its first anti-Japanese demonstration, resulting in many young students being killed or imprisoned. It used to be a very conservative and rough school, but it has recently become co-educational and has become much softer. This school has also produced three Olympic gold medalists.

NewJeans is a new group that immediately blew up to become a chart-topping worldwide sensation. They looked like high schoolers in the mv because they are high schoolers. I think one of them was 15 when they filmed this mv. Two of the members are Australian, The mv is an allegory for the unhealthy parasocial relationship between fans and their pop group idols. The mv actually has nothing to do with the song's contents.
Hyein was still only 14-yrs-old when they filmed Ditto. She only turned 15 in May of 2023 which is half a year after Ditto released.
To understand this MV, You need to understand the concept of an Idol, not a musician. Idol is a secure refuge from sobering reality as teenagers. and these two have such a strong connection. Camcorder girl symbolizes Fans who stan New jeans. However, as she grow up... she's getting further and further away from Idol. Because she falls in love and gets a job in a real life. Basically this MV is about the relationship between Fans and the Idol. Umbrella and girl's cast are the medium through which they comfort each other. And the deer is said to mean an Idol who is far from approaching. It will not be easy for y'all to understand because it's a sympathy derived from the problem of korean education, which is the most competitive in the world. But people who were obsessed with something as an escape from wandering in their teenage years might understand. Just rambling. I hope this is helpful.

@@yowill209 look at Xtra Xtra documentary of XG when they started there CEO Simon Said it and come back to me even the leader of XG jurin said it just because they live in south Korea doesn't mean anything .they are a global girl group. They don't be in kpop awards they don't win awards at south Korea . And it's only certain shows they can be in south Korea. Never saw them in a show called knowing brothers only kpop girl groups and boy groups be in that show. I been following kpop since first generation kpop groups.
Ditto is a tragic story about 6 high school girls.
6:47 Five of them are killed in a car crash when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer on the highway.
The sole survivor always filmed her 5 friends in high school.
2:37 As an adult now, she discovers the old VHS tape of her friends in a box.
5:50 While watching the old video, she herself dies in the room sitting in a chair and now dead, she looks over and sees her 5 friends enter the room and they begin to dance as they use to when she was younger.
The windows are full of Heaven's White light and they all go into Heaven together and the video ends.
Do you still believe this misinterpretation? Ditto's music video is about the relationship between fans and idols. The music video director has already explained it to us.
This is the darker theory and something i also thought as it explains the cast on her arm which the parasocial theory doesnt explain... however the parasocial theory makes so much more sense after side b and especially after omg
