The NVX venting is smaller by design. Smaller holes that are working in concert with the center pole vent create greater velocity and controlled directivity. The air gets to where it needs to and leaves in a hurry providing better cooling. The “weave” is actually a carbon fiber reinforcement of the non-pressed cellulose cone, adds rigidity without the weight of heavier plastic polymers; gives you the best of SQ/SPL. Of all these subs, NVX ranks best bang for my buck all day long. ;)
Thanks for the video! I was thinking about getting a single Skar 12 but after this video I think I'll take the American Bass. If you pause @7:29 you can see where the Skar "dimples" come from. They line up directly above the screws for the spider. Lucky I found this video or I would have bought them!!!

Those dimples usually happen when u push the spider or surround past there throw point and it kinda makes a hexagon usually comes from playing well below box tuning, but a 2.4 db difference is a lot between the mvx and skar
SQ, power handling, and budget friendly don't usually go together. That said, for a noticeable increase in volume you'll need to at least double rated power. The rule is a 3 db increase for every doubling of power or doubling of woofer cone area. Tropo 15 is 450 watts RMS I believe, so assuming for something in the 1000 watt range, decent sound Q, I'd say American Bass XR series (NOT RX) . It's got composite cone, 1200, rms rating and it's decently priced. Sounds better than the XFL also. Don't get me wrong, it's still loud af, but more SQ oriented. Bob, the owner of American bass has stated its his favorite woofer they manufacture more than once on the phone. I can plug you with a good price if you need one. They retail around around $230 I believe. If budget to you means more than 200, it opens the door to many better woofers as well.

Just impulse bought an American bass xr10 and I'm loving it and it's not even broken. it's sounding better every day. Sq version of xfl. 3" vc, 200oz magnet. Already best sub ive ever had
Cool comparison Parker stay pushing your knowledge forward buddy, the more you know the better you can teach and inform others, great job bro keep it up
I recently got 2 of the xfl 12's, they're the new style identical to yours but have a high roll surround with no ribs and the voice coils have black glue that more resembles the skars coil you showed. Fantastic subs, just thought it was strange the subs could vary with the same model number xfl 1244
Right on man cool vid! I’m a bit of an AP fan but for me custom subs with 4 inch coils are my preference but custom subs are not cheap and unless you dump tons of money into batteries an Alt or 3 fatty wires ect ect you can just be smart go budget build and still be happy. I hope to keep seeing your vids well off into the future maing!!!! Cause you do a real good job.
Yeah no doubt. Heck I am just running a couple subs, on an Orion amp that pushes around 4k or so RMS at 1 ohm, though I've been running it at .8 ohms which I believe bumps it up to around 5k if I'm pushing it, plus another 300 RMS amp to some 6x9's, and I have 0 gauge running from the main (battery under the hood is a good 1k CCA) back to the secondary battery a foot away from the Amps. With the Big 3 done under the hood, and exceptional grounds and all connections for the rear battery (also a 1 thousand CCA high quality marine battery) as was done everywhere.. I think I'd be pushing my battery, wiring, and alternator setup if I was to add my other sub amp, or maybe even adding my other full range 300/600 RMS amp to another set of components or 3 ways etc I think that I would be pushing it past what it can safety put out to power the Amps enough
This was a service to the world contemplating an upgrade. I'd really like to throw some money at a $200+ sub, but my car is a POS and my current power acoustik 124x sounds meh. Love seeing you inverted at the end cause that's what I did a few weeks ago. Opened up my 124x to another dimension in the undersized box. Been eyeing Skar but starting to question the looks of the dust cap. idk yet

All these subs seem to perform great and for the price you can’t beat it which brings me to my next point. Why is JL Audio so expensive and how would a W7 stack up against these subs? Which would you prefer?
Jl w7 probably would sound the same as those subs. It's a matter if prefferences, and specs. The better the amp,and better subs, plus good quality box built to specs will make statement quake.

What sub handles lows better between the audiopipe or American bass? I want to run six of them. The American bass looks beefier, but I love the surround on the audiopipe. 🤔
any sub with a double spaced spider like the american base is designed better because it holds the coil in the centre of the motor slot better.............
blew my skar dont like it changed the box cuz da box sound like it was guna break in half changed it in another box sound way better but den blew in 3 days maybe pushing too much power idk
IMO Skar = Junk Subs. Bought 2 brand new ones and with clean power, no distortion and they both blew within 5 minutes. Never even pushed them 100%. I'd recommend Resilient Sounds, SoundQubed, Sundown and more but never Skar.

It’s a common misconception that copper can’t handle heat when in actuality the melting point of copper is significantly higher than aluminum. Aluminum’s better at heat dissipation but you sacrifice motor force and low end output. I’m a copper guy or as a compromise a cca guy but I never like the sound of pure aluminum coils.
I've 2 audio pipe quad stack, they hit so hard .I'm only giving them 1500 to share running at 0.5 ohm, they will no doubt take double what I'm able to give them
I think you should preface this with what your electrical setup is. amp, batteries, wiring, etc. You are likely not running a cheap setup with no batteries on a stock alternator. This may lead people to believe that they can acheive 140+db just by buying these subs and throwing 1k watts at them when that is definitly not the case.

Thanks for all the good videos you posted in this series. Very entertaining. I'd like to see you test the Skar VXF line at some point. They look killer for the price, just over $200.
I know!! That’s what I wanted to get instead of the EVL but more people voted on the EVL. But I plan to get a VXF sometime
Ive had vxf 12 and 15 right now.i don't care for the vxf 12 basket.
I have 2 vxf 12s on a smart 3k
They still need to make a 10 inch vxf. Might have sonthing to do with the oversized cap.
Put a Gravity war zone 12" next to that. I went cheap and figured F it ill at least blow one and see... 6000peak Rockville amp on two g3's(1 step below W.Z's but not their cheapest) 170 a pair and they still slappin' not the greatest on quality but I think with the W.Z's and the right set-up, 💎 in the rough
Audio pipes all day son
Just impulse bought an American bass xr10 and I'm loving it and it's not even broken. it's sounding better every day. Sq version of xfl. 3" vc, 200oz magnet. Already best sub ive ever had
I really need to get an XR ASAP!
rmblwgn I got a sa10v3 and was gonna switch to either a xr10 or a xfl 10 I just can’t decide which one
@@israeltorres4109 get xr10 run 1000-1500rms
Cool comparison Parker stay pushing your knowledge forward buddy, the more you know the better you can teach and inform others, great job bro keep it up
I recently got 2 of the xfl 12's, they're the new style identical to yours but have a high roll surround with no ribs and the voice coils have black glue that more resembles the skars coil you showed. Fantastic subs, just thought it was strange the subs could vary with the same model number xfl 1244
Honestly you've helped me decide on which brand I want after watching your videos... Xfl getting 4 of them... Very helpful video... Thanks...
Really glad it helped!! You won’t be disappointed
Would a taramp md3k do the job?
Visually I think the BDC4 is most appealing. Personal choice of course.
Those EVL’s
I think that a common problem with those.
I have two EVL’s and both have those little dimples.
12:06 the little bug had me dying 🤣🤣🤣
This was a service to the world contemplating an upgrade. I'd really like to throw some money at a $200+ sub, but my car is a POS and my current power acoustik 124x sounds meh. Love seeing you inverted at the end cause that's what I did a few weeks ago. Opened up my 124x to another dimension in the undersized box. Been eyeing Skar but starting to question the looks of the dust cap. idk yet
Lemme just say I have't had any of those subs but ive have the audiopipe' bd4 15s and bd2 12s and they sound really good for the price.
Hey appreciate your videos! I actually got an American bass Titan the 3000 w aluminum basket version then the 15 in. It has the 3in voice coil and over 200 oz magnet. I love that Titan is clean musically it sounds nice and tight and really punches some air! I would love to see a video on the Titan line. I already got one of their 12in Titans and they are awesome as well. Running them with the taramps 3000.1 now my system rocks. Thank you!
The XFL is such a damn nice looking sub imo. I love that ribbed surround and the red stitching looks great.
So I heard American Bass #1, then VC4 or bc4 which is the NVX or the AP #2... 🤔 But he did say the NVX had the best sound quality.. 🤔
Well, I already have the APMI 2K amp so it looks like I’ll be getting the AP BDC4. Thanks for the video
Did you end up getting the bdc4 i wana get 2. Please let me know
@@lukeglavan yes I got one in a large ported box and it hits harder than the 2 Punch P3 12’s I had before using the same amp. Very happy with this sub. It def hits lower but not as good for non-rap music.
Did you have to upgrade your power supply? (battery etc )
All these subs seem to perform great and for the price you can’t beat it which brings me to my next point. Why is JL Audio so expensive and how would a W7 stack up against these subs? Which would you prefer?
W7 is a square sub, with a plastic subwoofer membrane and stronger motor driver,so henceforth is a competition grade sub.
Oh wait. I'm thinking l5 and l7. Kickers. Sorry. My bad.
Jl w7 probably would sound the same as those subs. It's a matter if prefferences, and specs. The better the amp,and better subs, plus good quality box built to specs will make statement quake.
You absolutely missed a sub man. The EMF Lowballer. Under 200 and would smoke them all. I think Sean even has them marked down from 199 to 179 right now.
Yeah man there are a ton of great options for under $200. These are just the 4 that I had and people had been asking me to make a video of which one I liked best
@@ParkerTheBasshead Yeah, just thought I'd put it out there, food for thought lol
What's y'alls opinion on the t5 soundstream??
What's the song at 8:27
I can feel the bass in my ears while using my samsung buds
3:33 Does it matter how big the wire is, I mean anything bigger then tinsel wire is waste right...or am I wrong?
Don't get me wrong....I run large gauge too, just always wondered
Aquatic Killa nope wire could never be to big the bigger the better ‼️🤘🏽
I’d take the American bass out of all of those imo
@James Tyler soooooo agreed
@James Tyler lol🤣🤣, but true
@James Tyler I just bought a 2nd new xtr 2500dz. Ain't even filed taxes yet. If u live paycheck to paycheck pry should be saving that tax money. But I hear ya I'm ready for all the deals next month when they broke. Need a new TV for my garage... Long as NFL don't end up cancelling over this Corona virus 😷😫
James Tyler how I got my bd3s
American Bass w6s really got louder then ab? That’s hard to believe
Great vid .One question though Did you put Rockville sticker so people won't break in your car?Kinda like a Boss sticker 😉
Oh yeah it works great! 😂
KGB2101 good idea!!
I have built a lot of subs over the past 20+ years. I will take the American Base all day long over the others.
Hey parker did the american bass do more spl burp inverted or mounted properly?? Or have you tested them all inverted ??
Heres a picture video of my build please check it out and leave your thoughts.. Share if you wish thanks for a good review th-cam.com/video/LyFRSjIVoUk/w-d-xo.html
I think audiopipe needs more recognition ill take ap over kickers anyday but ab over ap only the hd lol that rhymes
I'm still rocking a Elemental Design 12" 13Ov.2 subwoofer for my home theater. It won't quit. This video gave me some good options.
Good comparison video. I think a soundqubed HDS3 would be another one worth comparing with these
I agree!
@@ParkerTheBasshead I promise you will like that sub, soundqubed gets it, I just hit the 150 club with 4 DD 615s no wall 10in aero port no wall with a DM2500. Stoked you did this review.
this really helped me see how good the EVL is . i’ve planned to get one for the last week it’s just a matter of when i’m financially ready for it . i wanted it mainly because i have an RP 2000 just like yourself, but i want it all to be Skar so i can put a Skar sticker on my trunk and not feel guilty for having an (insert sub name here) . lol . but yeah . and plus skar subs just look good . maybe one day when i get bored i’ll try American bass out but definitely helped me see just how good the EVL is and matched up with others . LOVED this vid . 💯💯
Caleb Skunza the EVL is a great sub you won’t be disappointed!
I have the 15' EVL. Nice clean bass
the kicker L7 12 solo baric is now under $200 and yas #1 american Bass #2 Audiopipe #3 NVX #4 Skar
Ya there also only between 600-750 rms watts.
Ant B yeah I've heard they can easily take 1200 with proper electrical/Tune
getting the skar evls 12’s, actually changing my whole set up to skar accept for my amps, I have a 2000 watt precision power amp for my 12’s and a1200 watt precision power amp for my mids and highs, also I noticed the nc plate, what part of nc are you from, I’m from Charlotte
I have 2 nvx 12 "and these subwoofers are very strong I have used them for more than 4 years and they still sound without problems
What sub handles lows better between the audiopipe or American bass? I want to run six of them. The American bass looks beefier, but I love the surround on the audiopipe. 🤔
The AudioPipe gets lower
Gotta love americanbass!! Great vid man
Thanks dude!
the marks on the skar cone are from the allen heads that hold the spider down u literally slapped the back of the cone on the spider landing
NVX hands down on SQ but for any of the other subs I woulda picked Dark Audio Industries DKI
I picked one up and will be reviewing it soon. However, unfortunately DAI just went out of business :((
any sub with a double spaced spider like the american base is designed better because it holds the coil in the centre of the motor slot better.............
I have a w7 that I have in a w7 box and for some reason I feel like I should of bought 5 American bass subs for what I paid for the one 12 I have smh
Hahahahaha
Yup, W7 are overpriced AF, and overrated IMO. You could still sell it used and get maybe 3 American bass subs...
I have an older 10 xfl it slaps in a slotted box with a cheap hifonics amp i would love to see it with a better sub
blew my skar dont like it changed the box cuz da box sound like it was guna break in half changed it in another box sound way better but den blew in 3 days maybe pushing too much power idk
IMO Skar = Junk Subs. Bought 2 brand new ones and with clean power, no distortion and they both blew within 5 minutes. Never even pushed them 100%. I'd recommend Resilient Sounds, SoundQubed, Sundown and more but never Skar.
OCD Garage glad im not the only one i replaced it with a audiopipe triple magnet 15in which is cheaper nd it has not blown yet
@@JerzeYxKinG That sub will easily out perform the Skar. And should last too lol.
Do you ever think that box is too big? I have a 1.75 cube box tuned to 35hz for my sundown sa12. It gets pretty loud and controlled
These subs all require 2.5 or more
jeffyshort skar evl requires 2cf
Skar for the win!!
Yes sir!!!
Never
My new bdc4 I got in today has the black high heat coil they changed it I guess cause it's not copper its black
Get a emf audio lowballer 12
Idk what massive audio runs for, but I had one, they are another decent subwoofer for the price.
I have 2 massive audio 12's 1000 RMS and paid 179.00 each. There 279.00 on there site. ToroX dual 4's
I wish I hadn't been so stupid in my early days and exposed myself to loud music especially powerfull bass - got serious hearing damage now - all my top frequency from 3.5K is gone forever!! never believed it when I was young.
ever heard of a volume knob?? Music doesnt always have to be played at the highest possible volume :/
Lows won’t damage your hearing. It’s the highs that hurt
NVX is the winner in this line up in my personal experience. Best, cleanest lows.
NVX!!!
I've 2 audio pipe quad stack, they hit so hard .I'm only giving them 1500 to share running at 0.5 ohm, they will no doubt take double what I'm able to give them
I NEEDED THIS VIDEO! THANK YOU!
Glad it helped man!
You should get a 4k or 5k amplifier
Look at the dyno run figures off that skar rp2000.1d . It's underrated AF! It's pumping out well over 2k rms @1ohm certified. More than enough to run 1 1k rms sub dood
Can you explain the battery setup that you have in back vs a Cap? What type battery is that? And did you need to upgrade your alternator?
Do an actual sq test on these woofers. I'll bet those nvx do the best in any environment. As in sealed or vented.
Ok so taking your advice on the American bass subs! Going with 2 xd 1244 1000watt dual 4ohm 12" subs! Could you tell me best budget amp and box set up for this! Going in ex cab Ford ranger pickup! Thanks!
I like all these subs but i like the skars personally bc they kick and havent failed me yet and a new sub id try is american bass
@Jordxn i got the svr's 12 and still running close to a year and im running 2 of them and dont regret at all
@Jordxn im underpowering the subs due to so i wont damage the alternator but im running the skar marine rp 800.1dm its 800 watts rms still sounds strong and will be punching hard
I have to say I’m impressed by the American Bass subwoofer. And thanks for this video! You have help me make up my mind about which sub I will go with.
Hey man can you try out the ct sounds tropo 12
none of those subs are available in the UK, closest match cost 4 times the price on different inferior brands, u guys are lucky to have the best
MROOD Im from the UK bro i got an american bass HD 12’ 2ohm for sale if your interested
@@tommatthews3066 got a link on ebay or somthing?
MROOD The american bass HD is 2000W RMS, Its louder than the XFL, Gets the lows better and also Sounds a lot more musical! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/American-Bass-HD-12-D2-Subwoofer-2000W-RMS/133411073527 Much cheaper than getting it from abroad👍
Get Deaf Bonce subs. Theyre from Russia and make tons of good ptoducts
NVX is made for SQ! So to b still able to hang with those SPL Subs is pretty impresses 👍
I totally agree!!
Definitely not made for real SQ. Just decent sounding daily sub. Real SQ subs sound a lot different this is given that the enclosure is on point with the vehicle acoustics and tuning.
NVX allll day !!! yeeeeeeeeeeeew!
I would love for u to eventually try a massive hippo XL 12 4000 watt. 2 ohm. But u would have to step the amp up. I would love to see the ratings on that sub. Think they list for 299.00
I'd like to see a Kicker CVX compared to these considering it's rated at the same power and now around the same price... Just for the haters.
this niqqa said "kicker" AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
@@funhaver420 I'm not a nigga but yeah I said Kicker. Their CVX's are solid subs that go hard. Anyone that disagrees has never ran them or is just a hater. I've been running mine at full power for 8 years now and it will probably last at least 8 more. All those other subs are nice too but people still out hear pounding their 20 year old kickers. Not many others can say that. There's a reason recone kits are so easy to find for spl subs but not for kickers. I'm not claiming kicker is the best, I'm not one of these sundown fanboys but anyone that says kicker is trash doesn't know shit about car audio.
Kekker
Kicker is still a great subwoofer.....but back in my day......early 90s....they were top dog and built to last
At 14:33 4 AWG & 8 AWG wire ferrules will make your life easier.😏👍
Another great video Parker.
Thanks dude!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead no problem! I corrected the spelling. It's ferrule pronounced like the name.
Lol get that Rockville sticker off your ride dude. I got some JL stickers you can just have... for the American bass!
I got some down4sound,prv,ds18, and cresendo I can have brother. Rockville is good but hurt the basshead community by false #'s
Hes not a follower nothing wrong with his Rockville destroyer sub he likes it.
It acts as a natural detorant for smash and grabbers tho
Really big center caps are good for cooling. The center cap helps cool the sub. Other than blocking dust.
Hey! Hey! I've been waiting on this video for sure 👍. Love them all.... God bless my dude. I would really , really love to own any of those subs....
Thanks dude!!
i know this is old and all but came back up in my feed i just recently picked up a audio pipe txx dual 2 and threw it on my crossfire1k class d old school amp and does well! would love to grab another my amp is .25 ohm stable im sure it would run em!
Skar sounded the cleanest
just bought some skar subs they come in soon let’s hope they sound good
Messin With Sasquatch how did they sound
I’m planning on getting the Skar EVL 12 with the rp1200 or rp1500 amp which amp would be fine to have with stock electrical for starting off?
Messin With Sasquatch whatcha get? Idk if I should get 2 12s or 1 15
You can make any sub sound clean, its all in the box, i had 2 xfl's which would blow the skar evl's away but sounded way better as well in the box i built for them
Hi bro how big is that box for the audiopipe sub. In inches please not cubic feet cause I really don't understand the cubic measurement
