The Hell Song was the solo that got me hooked! The first time I really sat down with a guitar for hours and didn’t get up until I could play it clean! Thank you for including it!!! ❤️

The Hell Song solo is pretty innovative with a bunch of different types of parts blending in that song. I have seen that kind of creativity in something like Children of Bodom.
Hearing the solo on American Idiot after hearing the solos he’s very capable of from songs off of 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk, it just falls short. Like he can play really cool blues solos.
Always a shame, mike ness was on his way to being a great great guitar player and ended up just ok. The blues is great but compared to the quick melodic riffs and energy of wreckage from the past he fell so far. He doesnt even play the simple solos live any more. He cant.

Also, coming from a close to 40 year old punker who spent his 20s in punk bands, the "Not Quite There Yet" soloist is what we used to call the "Open Bar Chord Soloist". Tons of pop punk from the mid 90s to the late 2010s had open bar chord soloists haha! Still tickled that punk spot on the back of my neck though.

You forgot "I'm too good to be playing pop punk" check out The Ergs! - most violent rap group, or really any of their songs. Jeff Schroeck is a beast and so are the other Ergs.
The major scale. Mostly hit the 3rds and octaves over each chord...also playing 2 notes on the G/B string- bending the G string up to the same pitch as the B string. GENERALLY you don't want to use the blues scale unless it's cowpunk like socal D, but major pentatonic (or its relative minor) will work.

They're like the "Weirdly more complex than most pop-punk" (so basically The Metalhead in a Pop-Punk Band). Seriously, I love MCR's solos. Prison has a great one.

Technically the 5th on the B string is how Johnny played it but it makes the same note so it doesn't matter.

It's an octave. Same shape as a 3 finger power chords, except you mute the middle string.
