Well, you wonder about humankind's values when you hear that man talking about being so fascinated with that person, Edward Bernays, who did so little in favour of humanity, who exploited humanity really, who brought chaos to a poorer country, who helped enslave humanity even more. No criticism toward that? He is just fascinated at an exploiter and manipulator? What about the common good? Alright, we shouldn't be too naive so as to expect heroism from every intelligent person, but this is sad.
Oh man you're on the money, Burnays is directly responsible for influencing Goebbles, and his propaganda machine, that turned Germany into a horrible monster. Before Burnays this sort of mass manipulation, did not knowingly exist. Every war since, around the world, has used his recipe for manipulation. We are as groups, so easily controlled, and made to do the most absurd, many times horrible things, simply though the power of suggestion. Burnays literally discovered the key to enslaving the world. Not a very good thing to celebrate.

Interesting that, when the discussion turns to the founders of Public Relations, Ivy Lee is not mentioned. He and Eddie Bernays met once, over lunch. No records of what they discussed of course.
@@robertcook2680 I'm not a fan of any y of them. All 3 were rather self absorbed and dependent upon those with money to carry out influence that subtracted (as opposed to added) value to society. Bernays, the maternal nephew of Sigmund Freud was able to help turn public opinion towards support of entering WW1, the first War for European control of Ottoman oil, just a decade after four key, fossil fuel dependent inventions (tractor, diesel ships, airplane, automobile). It went downhill from there. Burroughs was a trust fund kid who never grew up but was propped up by fellow addicts who liked to party and needed company so as not to appear extreme. Some of those partiers had actual influence whereas I doubt that Burroughs was a hero to anyone but drug addicts, homosexuals and people who get away with shooting their wives. Bernays and Lee? Not any better. The world would be a different, much better place if all 3 had never been born. The Rockefellers would have less power and the public wouldn't be distracted from their greed and destruction. Advertising would remain about need instead of want and trust fund fueled drug filled binges with only "books" to show for it, wouldn't be glorified. That last one is a REAL IRONY because all the turds that "check out" because "voting doesn't matter" and all the other B.S. that they try to impose upon others wouldn't have any effect. Hy? Because life for others WOULD be better without those 3, addicts would get better care in the better society (irony on top of irony) but most importantly, AN INFORMED PUBLIC WOULD MAKE GOOD CHOICES and few people, especially addicts, would have reason to whine.
I know, I know. I like sharing a lot of clips and such and YT keeps penalizing me and removing videos. I am afraid that they will just delete my channel soon.
