Only problem that i have is that i use RC car instead of the box and it doesn't follow the spline on the curves as it should, any solution for that ? It's really weird because i can see that even your cubes are following the spline correctly.

    Thanks for the tutorial, this is a simpler process than others involving character controllers. Question: Would adding a local offset somewhere allow the cube to follow the spline from a nearby reference point (like 1 foot to the right)? Also, how would you make it come back in the other direction automatically when it reached the end as a back and forth NPC for example?

    • @HangryBunniesFromMars
      @HangryBunniesFromMars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totalys, Is stead of having a cube in with the spline traveling actor, ActorA. I would create a second actor, ActorB, that has the functionality to Lerp a sphere between locations 1 foot to the right or left by pushing the left or right arrows. Then inside the spline traveling actor, ActorA, I would get a reference to ActorB and use an "attach to componant" to attach ActorB to the cube running along the spline. That way ActorB get brought along for the ride. Then to get the fowards and backwards control I would probubly just call events that change the playback speed of the timeline from 1 to -1. Hopefully that helps and thank you for the kind words :)

    This is great ! Holy crap I feel like He-Man and gonna go up on the roof shout *"I have the **_POWER!!!_* while holding out my Wacom pen like Sword!!! :) Thanks a lot,. Really cool. I love when there is no ancillary, auxiliary, extemporaneous, arbitrary, irrelevant, unnecessary or extra stuff,.. ;) LOL... This got right to the point, and my UFO is FLYING across the scene! _I tried to customize it a bit and am having a little trouble,.._ If you have a second I'd sure appreciate a clue! 1) I'd like the UFO to rotate around a few times during it's path journey, I tried Add Rotation, Multiplying/ Nothing seems to work :? also 2) I tried to add a delay before the UFO starts down the path (and/or rotating,. ) .. I got it to pause (delay), but then when the delay time was up it went from the beginning of the path to the end in a millisecond! UPDATE: i GOT #2 ! I made a delay, by changing the first keyframe in the Timeline to 100 and the second keyframe to 200~ Awesome,. Now if only I could get the thing to rotate while on its path! :) THANK YOU!

  • @sil8433
    @sil8433 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Question 2: I gather that the timeline animation is the "driving force" behind the movement.. (pushing the numbers forward). Are there other simple non-player-controlled ways of doing this? (i.e. setting the start and end of the spline as a point/variable and telling the object to go back and forth on a timer?)

    • @HangryBunniesFromMars
      @HangryBunniesFromMars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totaly, you could just set a looping function with an "Interp" node to drive the distance along the path value as a variable. You can also set the playback speed of the timeline to what ever you want. +2 or even -1 or 0 to controlll it that way too. This other one I made might explain things a little better.

    Q: How would I go about looping multiple boxes after each other on a single spline? say like bullets?

    • @HangryBunniesFromMars
      @HangryBunniesFromMars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I were to do that I would probubly make a for loop at the begining that spawns a second or third or fourth actor that has a reference to the spline. Inside each of those actors they could follow that spline on there own. Or like what I did in our game I have two seperate actors. One is a path and the other is a pilot. The path spawns into existance. Then all the pilots spawn with a reference to the path and then travel down the path. I would be happy to go into more detail but time is of the essence currently as its release week. Thats how the Scout Bunnies in my game work. Hope that helped :) . If this does well I'll have more free time to help heheh - store.steampowered.com/app/672910/Hangry_Bunnies_From_Mars/

      Thank you for the reply!
      I got the mesh to loop but what I need is for multiple of the same mesh to be moving on the spline at the same time so it looks like say an infinite row of ants walking between point A and B.
      I am not a coder so I am not sure how to implement all that. I have the for loop but will google more in the direction you suggested thank you very much. My current project require a bit of code. I plan on learning soon tho but this project needs to be done soon (3 weeks) so I do not have the time at the moment to learn blueprints. Good luck with the release of your game looks really well done and like a lot of fun would definitely check it out if I had a VR headset. Thanks again for the reply.
      Any help would be amazing but I understand that you are busy at the moment so whenever you have time again.
      Thank you

      Heyo good sir. Sadly I am about 4-6 weeks out from starting in on learning how to render out 360 stereo videos from unreal. BUT! I am absolutely certain what you are talking about is possible through blueprints. But but, I sadly dont know it yet. I think this video might be a good starting point?

      You can do all of this right now using the Stereo Pano Plugin. You can read more about the plugin using the following link.
      www.unrealengine.com/blog/capturing-stereoscopic-360-screenshots-videos-movies-unreal-engine-4

      Hammer-On Productions hi, Thank you so much for the reply... i think you misunderstood.... i want to export side by side stereo like in the movie theatre we watch 3d film with glasses... i don't need 360 stereoscopic video... side by side stereo means one video for the left eye and one fir the right eye....all 3d application has that facility to render side by side... but game engine do not have this export facility..

      i found it after some searching with other nodes. After the SetWorldTransform you have to add and connect the node "AddLocalRotation". the target is the same as you used in the SetWorldTransform node.
      In the AddLocalRotation you can put in the Delta Rotation Z, 90. That will make it so it forces the object to start with a 90 degree rotation.

    Any way to make this loop on a closed spline indefinitely?

    Why is none of this ever working for me? It will not move through all the points on the spline?

    Hey are u there? I need ur help i added an Static Mesh (Ship) but the problem is that my ship is going sideways along the spline i set my ship in the Viewport in the same direction like the spline.

      It's because your SetWorldTransform (that comes after your timeline) has the rotation set to the wrong direction probably. Change the rotation in that and it should fix it.

      Im sorry but i cant find the SetWorldTransform im in the Blueprint of my Spline and then on the Timelime but i cant see it and i just clicked Viewport Conruction etc.. but its nowhere

    My spline doesn't work. The sphere doesn't even move. I have a path, and my blueprints are the same.
    I don't have a player in the game though, just a camera, if that matters.

    could you do this to your FPS character BP?

      I would think you could use an "AttachToComponant" and attach the player pawn to the object that is riding the path. I think?

      I will give it a try :)

      I think I'm getting somewhere.. what would be the best way to slow down the travelling speed along the spline?

    • @HangryBunniesFromMars
      @HangryBunniesFromMars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far I have just been adding more keys the curve on the timeline. Its not the best, but its a quick dirty simple way. there is also changing the actual playback rate of the timeline.

      You could use that and when the mine-cart, so to speak, that is traveling along the path overlaps with collision actors, it could check to see if they are named faster or slower then adjust its speed of the timeline playback. Just an idear. Lots of ways to skin a cat and all that.
