Damon, having grown up in Malibu, California; I know from 1st hand knowledge how devastating Brush Fires are to the Community and families. We were burned out of Malibu in 1978. The last Malibu fire several years ago burned right up to the house again; but skipped us and burned multiple homes a block away. Be safe.

I do wild land firefighting and I understand why people park on the road and watch, but most of the time, it makes it harder for us to get around and do what needs to be done in order to save structures, and people’s houses
We had a fire tornado here in old Shasta CA, norcal a few years back and so many people died because they sat on the side of the road watching the fire and it circled them. Tornado started. Everyone in the middle of that circle was gone😢 Lost 3 firefighters running backhoes aswell😢

High winds pfffff I was .6 of a mile away from THE MONSTER. AN winds pfff 30/35mph gusts. Thankfully we didn't have 100kph 60mph winds. Then the valley I live in literally would b ash an many many lives would have been.......... I lived the video. From a muchhhhh closer point of view.

Last Thursday when this was taken was a terrifying time for us in the city of Kelowna, I drive a tow truck and we were up and down westside road getting trailers for people who were being evacuated, happy to say since this video we seem to be past the worst of it, still lots of homes evacuated and sadly a lot of people lost there places, thank you to all the first responders that helped out this past week.

We experienced this in El Paso, and it's frightening. We were fortunate enough that we lived at the bottom of the mountain, but I'm sorry that you guys have to experience this. Legit question since it's hard to tell what's actually factual in the news these days....but were the fires around you from arson? Or like a combination of lightning/dry weather/lack of rain etc?
At this time the official cause of the fire is still under investigation. Due to the fact they are still actively fighting and containing the fire I do not think we will see an official cause for a little bit.@@phlooke
@@phlooke It has been very very dry in the area as it has not had rain in a good long while. The fire also jumped across the lake. I have some very first hand info from someone who saw it start up in the hills and informed the right people but they didn't act fast enough. In all likelihood they didn't think it would spread that fast as well.
@@phlooke The current status is "under investigation" for the cause of the fire, most around here start from the combination you mentioned and start far away from anywhere easy to get to, a lot of arson fires are started very close to home's. We also have lots of cigarette caused fires as well unfortunately. Its hard to say what started this fire but it seemed like a super hot and clear week to have any lightning.. then one bad day of wind after it was lit and in 2 days it traveled 10kms right into town..
Hell of a way to take a break and spend time with family. But at the same time very fortunate to be home with family not having to worry about their safety.

I was just up in the BWCA on the Canadian border, and the fire haze is crazy up there right now. Drove back to Minneapolis yesterday, and there is a huge difference, but it's still there.
I agree bro. I live in St Louis Park. A couple parents won’t let their kids go to the pool because of the smoke. Most importantly, everyone will hopefully be well and safe.

It's been a fucked up year for fire, this year. I mean if you would have told me that Yellowknife would be evacuated for fire this year. I would have told you, you're crazy, yet here we are. Most of my summer has been smoked filled (I am in southern Ontario, in the Golden Horseshoe.... the fires where in Northern Quebec). Alberta is still digging itself from the ashes of it's blaze. By Halifax, Nova Scotia.... they had to deal with a nasty blaze and then a flood two weeks later. And BC? Did the fires stop? It's been a thing since spring and it just was one thing after another. It's not the same blaze, but damn. I know it's not much, but thank you for the thoughts and prayers on this.

In Australia forest/bush fires are part of our life living here. Lots of our native plants spread their seeds because of fire, so it's normal here. But yeh, they feel super scary, unpredictable. Luckily here the local gov's maintain the forests and do burn offs to prevent anything bad. Hope everyone in Canada stays safe!

I doubt Damon will see my comment but here goes: I’m sorry you’re dealing with the fires I can certainly relate because I work in Malibu and live nearby so we had the Woolsey fires back in 2018 and several other times throughout my years of growing up and living here. You feel helpless and you watch the news and wait for alerts to evacuate etc… it’s anxiety causing. Despite the negative situation I want to say I really liked this style of vlog. It reminds me of the original DDE days when it was basically just you and the huracan. No annoying jump cuts no obnoxious bumper music not many obnoxious characters. Just a dude and his camera and car stuff. I still watch the new stuff from time to time but maybe due to my old age I just love the simple OG style. So thank you for making that and again sorry about the situation out there in BC.

I just want to say I’m glad you guys are showing how fast that fire moves. I have been reporting on a few local fires here in Washington and I had someone try and bait me into an argument over if it was closer to a popular fishing lake or if it was closer to a river no one goes to and both location are less than a mile apart from each other with nothing but dense woods between them.

I lived in Northern California and south western Oregon and had to help friends evacuate their homes and right now my in-laws have no power because of the power heading towards them in crescent city . It’s scary and sad because a lot of people didn’t have the time to get things that can not be replaced .

Be safe guys. Maybe consider picking up some fire blankets, etc. I've been in lots of fire evacuations when I lived in North California, it's nothing to play with. Things can be replaced, but people can't.

We had a fire a few years ago just a few miles up the canyon from us in Oregon. Skies were RED. Middle of the day looked like night and it looked like it was snowing with how much ash there was. Glad all is okay. Wildfires are horrifying and make you feel so small. I was blessed that it didn’t get close to us. But thousands lost homes.

In 2003 the house next to ours burnt to the ground but ours did not, we have one of the very few old build houses around up in that area still standing, and it goes for most of our neighborhood as well. We got very lucky!

In Australia forest/bush fires are part of our life living here. Lots of our native plants spread their seeds because of fire, so it's normal here. But yeh, they feel super scary, unpredictable. Luckily here the local gov's maintain the forests and do burn offs to prevent anything bad. Hope everyone in Canada stays safe!

I’m sorry you’re dealing with the fires I can certainly relate because I work in Malibu and live nearby so we had the Woolsey fires back in 2018 and several other times throughout my years of growing up and living here. You feel helpless and you watch the news and wait for alerts to evacuate etc… it’s anxiety causing.
Despite the negative situation I want to say I really liked this style of vlog. It reminds me of the original DDE days when it was basically just you and the huracan. No annoying jump cuts no obnoxious bumper music not many obnoxious characters. Just a dude and his camera and car stuff. I still watch the new stuff from time to time but maybe due to my old age I just love the simple OG style. So thank you for making that and again sorry about the situation out there in BC.

I just want to say I’m glad you guys are showing how fast that fire moves. I have been reporting on a few local fires here in Washington and I had someone try and bait me into an argument over if it was closer to a popular fishing lake or if it was closer to a river no one goes to and both location are less than a mile apart from each other with nothing but dense woods between them.

It’s always so hard to see stuff like that. It’s so devastating and my heart breaks for all of those people that will be losing their home or other positions that are valuable to them.

I’m sorry to hear that I hope everyone is safe and you come back after all this . I lived in Northern California and south western Oregon and had to help friends evacuate their homes and right now my in-laws have no power because of the power heading towards them in crescent city . It’s scary and sad because a lot of people didn’t have the time to get things that can not be replaced .

Be safe guys. Maybe consider picking up some fire blankets, etc. I've been in lots of fire evacuations when I lived in North California, it's nothing to play with. Things can be replaced, but people can't.

We had a fire a few years ago just a few miles up the canyon from us in Oregon. Skies were RED. Middle of the day looked like night and it looked like it was snowing with how much ash there was. Glad all is okay. Wildfires are horrifying and make you feel so small. I was blessed that it didn’t get close to us. But thousands lost homes.

It's absolutely scary. We have had horrific fires here in Victoria, Australia. (As well as many other parts of our Little Island) land loss is terrible but it will grow back, I hope the people and animals are able to escape the path of these fires. Hope you all stay safe

In 2003 the house next to ours burnt to the ground but ours did not, we have one of the very few old build houses around up in that area still standing, and it goes for most of our neighborhood as well. We got very lucky!
