Great to see Delboy living his dream and taking us along for the ride.
I’m watching this as a prequel to the finished product but I’m also watching this because I have to prep/paint a new front fender. I learn more watching it being done than I do reading.
Came to watch the prep and got hooked by the music 👍
I'm always enjoying all of your hard, miserable and borings parts too Del 😁😜 We always learn something good. Continue ton bon travail!
Thank you my friend, painting video up in about 1/2hr!
Love this stuff, I don't have the patience for that kind of attention to detail but love watching it.... 👍
Really love watching this type of work. Getting excited about the paint job now.
Thank you buddy, it's going to be a big day and am really looking forward to it!
A mate I've been a painter for a bit now an just a tip. I don't no what you painted that in before but if it was a rattle can an now your going to use 2k paint I'd take all the old paint off an etch prime it cuz sometimes you get a reaction an it pickles up
Chris B I was thinking the same. I don’t see the two paints playing nice with each other. I’ve had it happen to me before and it sucks! It would be better to start with bare metal in this case.
@@shunkjr Yeah you can get a barrier coat or sealer that sometimes work an sometimes you paint it an its fine but when it go's wrong an you have to wash it off with thinners an you gloves start melting an there paint everywhere an you stop an think why the f@#k did I pick this for a job. Sorry got caught up in the moment just sand it back if it's 1k
Enjoyed this very much, Del! It was so very therapeutic to watch you and at the same time extremely enlightening for a paint dunderhead like me! 🏍👍🏍
Nice job Del, well looking forward to seeing what you have planned with the new paint. Penny and you have a good week mate. Cheers
Thanks mate, you too, and it's a great chance to step up to the big skill sets! Ride safe in that sunshine! D&Px
Brother, thank you for what you do man! Had a friend tell me about your link...and I'm hooked! Peace.
Thank you Brother you are most welcome aboard, and hope you're safe and well.. Keep in touch. Del.
Nice. Like the process looking forward to seeing next stage
Thanks Gerry, good to hear from you mate.
How timely! I’m doing my tins as we speak and as usual you’ve been extremely helpful! Cheers!!
Thanks John.. good luck with yours, hope it turns out perfectly.
Doing a great job there Del, when I had my Jota in Oz the casings were unlaquered, so I used to use very fine steel wool then 1200 grade wet/dry & finish off with 2000 grit, they came up like glass, good luck with the spray booth 👍👍
Thanks Geoff, a Jota, my word, now there's a man's bike if ever there was one... thanks for sharing that cool tip mate, old school aye?!
@@Moonfleet41 👍👍
Roll on the weekend getting quite excited to see this
I'm going to miss that paint, brother. I thought that was a unique, and very cool look for it. But, you're right.... You can't pass up a chance like that. I might be just a little jealous of you for this one, my friend. Enjoy, and can't wait to see what you come up with! Shiny side up!
Thanks Brother, it's a great adventure, and you're right.. too good to pass up.
I enjoy watching all of your hard work. I'd go bonkers trying to do that. ✌😎
All the best, hope it goes well. Will be watching!!!!!!!!
I'm no expert but black paint is the hardest one to spray. Great video on how to prep for a re spray. Keep up the good quality work and good luck with the new paint job.
Wow Del, 18 months flew by 😮
Really looking forward to seeing how it turns out
Looking forward to the new colour . Keep pushing for more knowledge 👍🏻👍🏻
Cant wait to see the next one👍Where can I download the music from again del.???🤔🤔🤔
The band is called Feast of Friends (FoF), here's their Reverbnation page: www.reverbnation.com/OFFRIENDS/songs
Gute Arbeit bei toller Musik.
Vielen Dank, Sir, ich bin froh, dass es Ihnen gefallen hat.
Love anything HD matey. Looks cool.
Nice one Del. It's all in the prep eh? I'm definitely looking forward to the next episode, Although it'll be a shame to see this scheme go. Awrabesht to you both bro from me and all the clan. L&H. 😉💙🤘
Thanks bruv.. hoping to do the bike justice and make it even better than it is now..
@@Moonfleet41 I'm sure it'll be a head turner bro. Enjoy the experience!! 😉👍
Awwww yes love a bit of elbow rubbing looking well good del can't wait for the next video exciting times 👍👍
Exciting indeed mate.. can't wait.
Those pads are good mate, especially for this kinda job, expensive though,,, tell you what ive found to be a great pad for body work prep and final sanding is the Mirka Abranet Pads, you can get them off Ebay and elsewhere online, i use them when i do my kitchen fitting when i install solid surface Mistral / Corian / Mirostone worktops, you can get a pack of 50 x 77mm diameter ones for about £8, that size may fit your small cordless polish sander, hook and loop backings so no need for swapping out the backing pads, i`m just in the process of doing my custom help for heroes / RTTW / Lest We Forget 02 Triumph America tins and used mainly these for the prep, i painted mine yesterday in my mates spray booth, he too loaned me his spray booth and it`s quite a learning curve i tell you, but one you`ll really enjoy mate, i loved spraying mine up, have fun. Take care. Glen Claypole
Spooky aye mate... It certainly is a learning curve, nothing like rattle cans, and a great opportunity too, really looking forward to it, and hope i can do it justice. Thanks for the info on painting consumables, it always good to buy the right things for a job.. Have a good week mate, and keep in touch Del.
Great work.
Enjoyed it.
Lekker Del, you are an inspiration broer. Regards
Cant wait to see how it looks at the end
Perfect timing. This is my next project also.
You are absolutely correct....degrease first off....now where did you get that chrome hood ornament?
Hey Scott, there is a long story about the Chevy Hood furniture.. they were actually on my car, it was a 2 door 56, had it about 15 years ago, and took them off when i sold it as the new owner had plans to junk them anyway.. just keepsakes now.
What was the music on this one please Del ?
It's a USA band called Feast of Friends (FoF) Kevin, track called Dragonfly... !
Awesome man, definitely going to take the same approach...only question is do you not wash after the final sand...just use a tack cloth? Time to get myself a respirator. Great video!!!
Hi Josh.. the tins have to be walked to the paint shop, its raining most days.. so this is fine for now, and it will all be thoroughly cleaned with panel degreaser once it's set up in the booth just prior to painting the 2K primer.
@@Moonfleet41makes sence. Again thank you!! I'm debating getting a cheap spray gun now...not sure yet.👍👍
All that hard work when you painted it the first time, no patience for body work me😜
I have faith in you mate 😎
matte :D
i dont mean to be mr negative here but how is the paint going to hold up with a finish sand in 2000 grit there will be no adhesion the paint will peal with in 6 months especially a gas tank , in my 25 years experience 800 grit finish sand max , you can buff from 2000 grit , i really dont know why you have been told to do this
well looking forward to seeing what you have planned, got me thinking I should do my BMW too
#technmoto
im still glued to your channel, watching every installment of this redo! im STILL thinkin about repainting my FXST. we'll see. did you do anything to the inside of the tank? just curious. if you mentioned it, i missed it.
Thanks Dave, nothing needed for the inside of the tank, just emptied it out and will refill it once it' back on the bike!
Hallo del, that p2000 is a bit to fine in normale stages of body work .and in this step even more , because you go to spray bodyfiller .dan you take p320 its better for the filler to stick on it.If you spray claer its ok a p2000.but overal its Nice prep del. And also its difrend in every country, that a see on TH-cam. 🤘🤘🤘👍
Alight (Peaky Blinders style 😄). So change again matey, saw what was coming from the last vid. I might have missed the colour though, you going black again mate? Finish looks good though, lovely silky/Matt sheen to it. Have sun next week man.😜😳😂
Hey brother, black was the first choice, but am thinking probably not this time, there are so many cool colours out there, maybe it's time for a change! Have a good week, soon be Spring!
Delboy's Garage
Pleased to hear brother, not really a black paint guy anymore. I’ll look forward to seeing your choice! RSMB
The old paint job took a beating during the last 18 months, I now know why you're repainting it!
I 'use' my bikes Harold, they're for riding and enjoying, those chips and scratches are the wear and tear of a lot of fun miles.. Hope you're having a good week, take care and keep in touch.. Del.
haven't caught up with you lately, but if it's not too late don't forget to put badges on before you lacquer :-)
Thanks buddy, going with a single colour and no decals, maybe solid badges if I can afford them!
Delboy's Garage saw the spray episode which followed on automatically, good job Mate, I think black or solid would look good as you say. I like a tank badge/sticker personally otherwise the tank looks too bare.
did you scuff up the underside of the fenders or do you have something else planned?
The fenders are covered in a soft stone chip paint, which is staying where it is, will only be painting the outsides.
What's the song from the intro?
The intro song is called Insane by Feast of Friends (FoF).
The new paint should be a lot more durable, I've been very disappointed with modern aerosol paint, tiny splash of petrol for example just eats into it. Looking forward to the next one
Hey Brother top prep with guidance ! One tip for ya , never ever ever use dolphin glaze on an fxdwg! obviously it should be
"dyna glaze!"
I'm so sorry, I couldn't help myself ! Taxi for springy 😲..
👍🏻☮❤
Springy You Wag.. !
@@Moonfleet41 cheers 👍🏻..borrow a microscope and check out 2000 grit its rough as fook amazing what looks smooth and silky is actually a great key for paint at the micron level.
Are we going satin or Matt laquer? Matt is 10% gloss ,satin is 30% gloss ,semi gloss is 60% and perversely full gloss is 80% gloss..all about light refraction ..
of course you can brew your own gloss levels inbetween oooh, such fun ....milky milky 😉
Hey Man, what kind of clear did you use on the tank? how did it stand up against fuel?
I presume you mean in the previous job, rather than what I will be using? Currently on the tank is an acrylic clear lacquer, which marked clearly on the can that it's petrol and oil resistant.
Delboy's Garage Thank you, I just sprayed my tank. I wanted to get some 2k clear, but it wasn’t available in my country. I bought a similar product to you and yours looks good 8 months on, gives me some reassurance.
🙈🙉🙊., well am communicating ., am sure it will Be grrrrrreat !
(P) Prep looks good, did you close your eyes when feeling the ridges after sanding 👍🏻 Hope ur both well.
Hey buddy, it's a fun project and looking forward to the big adventure!
Superb
Thank you Soo much for your response
Smooth, very smooth; the house of Estee Lod approves of smooth, it helps the airflow remain uninterrupted as it passes over the supine metal forms dictated by the layout of the purposeful assemblies contained within. Shame they need all that paint to handle day to day living & social acceptance though, covering up all that lovely work.
Still, I suppose we only have feet to stop our ankles fraying, eh? Have fun : ) x
Colour Dell ?
Next video mate.!
You really should give a shout out to the artists who's songs you're using. Maybe ending credits? At the very least, a link to their channel in your description.
I want to check out more of the band that does the first song, but I can't find out who they are on Google. A credit would help me... and the band.

Opening track is "Insane"
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks!
R U STILL WITH PENNY ??
LOL 2000P is used for buffing ,you started well with 800P and finish it with 800P not 2000P ,you filled stone chips is ok but it will sink back also you will need to put primer over the silver hard edge or it will sink back. ,you are not going to be happy after a week or couple days you will see sink backs.mate if you put 2 coats of hifill over all panels and rub it down 800P ,you will get much better result. all best good luck
Finally first!
Damn ...I can't remember the name of the first song! What is it?
It's a band called Feast of Friends, the track is 'Dragonfly'... www.reverbnation.com/OFFRIENDS
@@Moonfleet41 I'm actually asking for the Intro song that continues upto about 6:25 in the background before the start of Dragon fly.
Oh, ok, same artist, track is called "Insane". !
@@Moonfleet41 Awesome, Thank you!
