S2000 WIRE TUCK !! - Never again

  • This was a really challenge.
Everything that had been touched had issues and leaked...
Wire Tucked are not my favorite. It makes things harder to work on and usually cause future issues from wiring rubbing and being pulled wrongly.
This one took 3 times as much as planned and ran into other jobs.
This may be back from round 2.
Also a little behind the scenes and plans. L-Sight, CRXs etc

The amount of issues with this S2000 is borderline hilarious. I hope LHT billed this guy accordingly. Props for LHT to show us what goes on with these highly modified vehicles.

I think LHT felt sorry for the owner if another "specialist" shop mangled this S2K. Surely they came to an agreement after more and more issues surfaced.👍🏻

This is why Alec Bledsoe at Late Model Performance no longer takes modified cars in to work on. Unfortunately, there are too many shops that do terrible work. This guy got taken to the cleaners. I’m glad he has LHT Performance to help with what they can.

Geez I love when that CRX makes an appearance. I feel for the S2000 owner, it came to the right place though. You guys always show the detail in this work and don't hide the effort it takes to make it right, its not always as easy as bolt on a part and go race. There's tweaking and paying attention to every aspect of how the OEM parts join the aftermarket. Great video/job guys!

It’s things like this is why I just end up doing everything myself on my cars. I had my insight turbo by “FWD performance“ in Texas and they butchered everything up after telling me a price then holding my car hostage until I paid almost double what was agreed-upon just to have the car running like shit, turbo already blown before I even picked it up along with quite a few other issues. The funny thing is you actually commented on one of his videos. Almost $6000 down the drain just to drive it maybe 150 miles just for me to rip everything back off of it and put it back to stock.

    @andreworth8493 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

John, you are absolutely correct! Stay away from that carpet as much as you can. When you are handling those ecu's, especially when they don't have the case on them. I repair motherboards for a living and I wear anti-static wrist straps and have my chair on an anti-static mat with another anti-static mat on my workbench. Electrostatic discharge really is a thing that can hurt Motherboards/ electrico components and you will never see it happen. You will just find the symptoms of it later when your board isn't working, right.

The guy I bought it from is the one who bought it from you. The guy was still driving it with no IMA. Still have all your notes and receipts to the car in the bag. In the process of restoring it but with some more modern hardware. I was thinking about taking a drive down there when I’m done with it.

And Im sorry, but like 90% of "motorsports" shops are straight trash these days... SOO many just do terrible work... LHT is a breath of fresh air, and thats sad because all LHT does is just take their time and do things right! Which is what all shops should be doing!

that old ECU most likely needs to have all the old capacitors replaced. When it shows issues, look at the board with a flir and see which components are hot. that might help to identify a shorted component. A lot of electronics that are going bad will act fine at normal temperature and will show a failed condition when heated.

Have you ruled out a cam position sensor? I've fixed a few cars which had issues where the metal in the sensor would deflect with heat and the signal would skew, resulting in horrible timing and trigging lights before dying.
Cool down and it was good. The longer it cooled then you could get max driving time. Cool down for only 15 minutes (on a warm day) and you won't be driving long if at all.
Let me know if this happens to be the fix.
Good luck, you'll figure it out.
Obviously ensure it has all the proper grounds too.

I swear these suspect install jobs are usually always done in the Honda community. The shops that specialise in BMW, MB, Porcshe, and Audi don’t do shoddy work. While it does probably happen it’s very seldom compared to the Honda community. Or having parts removed from your car while it’s in the shops parking lot. Good luck stealing a PDK trans out of Porsche and replacing it with whatever lol.

I had the passenger door light switch sticking and cleaning it where it doesn’t stick anymore however the right bulb on the dome light (led bulbs) still stays barely lit. Any idea?

Every led I’ve tried in that location doesn’t work right. My problem is always flickering and not staying lit. The only one that works is Philips. I don’t screw around with any other brand any. The car in question is a 2003 S2000.

@@davereiland9921 ordered the Phillips LED 30mm bulbs. Same issue. Cleaned the door contact switches no luck. Cleaned the dome light contacts no luck. Maybe it is one of the resistors in the dome light assembly?? LHT any thoughts??? For good measure I ordered two brand new door switches and a brand new dome light assembly from Honda and will see if that works. Otherwise I have to remove the passenger light bulb from the dome light assembly and I have no barely dime lights when the door is closed and when I open the door the drivers dome light works as it should. It may be a resistance thing, I would look into using bulbs that have a built in cambus eliminator. Sometimes if you don’t have enough resistance, the bulbs will flicker or sometimes stay very dimly lit. Only seems to happen in the interior light on the S2000. All the other bulbs are fine to use regular LEDs.
