I hope you find this demo helpful on how to light a pilot light flame. (Hopefully the gum chewing isn't too distracting. I have a chronic cough and the gum helps.)
Thank you!! Spent hours trying to find a video and this was exactly the steps that I needed. The bit about the pilot light and how it comes on and off and the fact that you showed it twice was really appreciated! That’s where I was stuck!! Thank you for this and to Heather as well for her video taking skills!!
Thank U, thank u... I'm A single woman that owns my own home and I lit my own pilot for first time. Your instructions were so clear and simple. Showed me step by step what to look for.
Dude, I really owe you for this easy-to-understand how-to video upload. My folks' are both in the hospital & I've been suffering severe anxiety having no heat for the past couple days. The manual was honestly useless compared to your easy to follow method. I don't have any money for you, but you really did save this young man from possibly hypothermia / pneumonia / who knows. I thank you so much. Sincerely, Eternally Grateful Post Script: After reading others comments you really are an Angel (of sorts). I'm honestly almost in tears over your generous teaching video. _Peace & God Bless You_
Never have I ever lit a pilot light. My furnace was on but blowing cold air. After watching your vid, I went downstairs and did what you said. Worked on the first try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing this....I was getting COLD!
Thank you for this video! I haven't had to light the old furnace at my parents house in 25 years and couldn't figure out where the pilot light gas button was on theirs and you saved me a ton of headache by showing that the knob pushes down on this model.
After searching for so many videos I finally found the problem I was ha ing and was needing to pull the pilot switch out to be able to switch it to the on position. Thank you so much!
This video was super helpful. I have never had to restart a pilot light before in my life and am always scared when i have to work with gas. Thank you for this.
Wooooo hooo!! Thank you so much! I knew my pilot needed to be lit, I just didn’t know where to find it or how to properly do it, I appreciate this video!! 💯🙌🏼🙌🏼
Thank you soooo much for posting this video. I have the same exact furnace and I was able to light mine back up after I thought it was broken. Your the best 🙂👍
Fantastic video. Very detailed. Thank you was able to get it on based off instructions!! A lot of other videos didnt mention you had to knob to the red dot and how to hold the button.
Thank you sooooo much! We always struggle for days trying to turn on our heater. But after watching this I was able to easily turn on my heater! You’ve saved me so much headache! Thank you endlessly!!!!
It really amazes me how people come to someone else's video and complain about stupid stuff. Go to another damn video if something annoys you. No one is making you stay here, geesh! Thanks for the video man!
Thanks mate I just bought my first house my water heater more or less exploded last week my water main started leaking then my heater wouldn’t turn on I thought I was going to have to replace the heater to and you came in to save the day
Thank you! my son and I got it. My mom (RIP) and I used to do it for years without TH-cam. Brave woman! I have TH-cam and I'm ready to stop, drop and roll!🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was helpful, gave me confidence to keep trying, however the furnace where I live has a button in front and to the side of where the knob is, that looks like a screw almost.... didn't realize it was there. (Hope that helps someone, as the button must be pressed first.) Long night, but thankfully back in business this morning.
Keep the Thermostat down at the lowest setting when lighting the pilot light! This will keep the main burner from suddenly igniting when you turn your gas valve to "ON" position!!! After your pilot stays lit, THEN turn the Thermostat to your desired temperature!
Thank you for an easy to follow instructions. It's Easter Eve and couldn't get pilot light on. I'm in MT and the temp right now is 29 degrees believe it or not. The heat is back on now. Yay!
I have an old, gas furnace in my apt. The pilot went out. I can't even get it all the way to "off." It's on pilot now. It has a red button on the right. No instructions, natch. Any tips? Thx so much!
Do I have to flip my on off switch before I relight the pilot or leave it on? I know it's a dumb question but someone please help quick before we freeze
I have an older model, possibly made in the 1930's? So I think this video might help others, not me. I'll try googling model I have, I might or might not be anywhere, as for it could have been first model ever production in prewar era?
I didn’t realize u had to hold the pilot knob on the “L” and hold it there to warm it up. I always wonder why it would just stay on with I ignited it a turn it immediately to On
First I would make sure you are holding the button down long enough for it to heat up after the pilot is lit. If you still have the problem, it's likely an issue with the temperature sensor which is mounted right next to the pilot flame (often touching the flame). First clean off this sensor of any carbon deposits, and if that doesn't work, you can replace the sensor.

It's very very distracting
Thank you for this. I had a chronic cough, i found out it was my blood pressure meds causing it.
Did anyone catch what flavor of gum we should be using while re-lighting the pilot?
What kind of gum helps?
Nice video but do I turn off my thermostat switch because it says leave on

Thanks! You helped me figure out how to relight my heater after I shut it off for the summer. Saved me hours of waiting around for SDGE.
I always come back to this video just for my well being. Thanks once again
Thanks, I have successfully lit my pilot and have heat. I have lived in this house for 16 years and this is the first time I have had to do that.
Thank you both, the voice and actor and the camera person. You got me out of a problem, and of the cold.
Thank you so much! We didn’t need to pay a fee just to light the pilot light. Appreciate your help figuring out this old system.
thank you so much for this video you've saved me so much money God bless you and your family ❤️❤️

Thanks! THe other video didn't mention you had to HOLD the pilot light for a bit. I was having a hard time getting the thing to stay lit.

Appreciate it!! but I want to know should I turn the heat thermometer to on before doing this or keep it off? Thanks

I have maybe a silly question, is the cover getting kind of hot when the furnace is working, I've never been near this kind of unit.
Thank you!!
Sure wish you lived near me. This is hard!
Thank u my guy
Thank u for the video.. by the way you sound like Bob from Bob's burgers lol
Did you leave the thermostat on?
Literally could not consentrate with you not being able to decide if you wanted to talk or smack the gum.
No one is making you watch, how about you just thank this kind man for caring enough to make a video to help your ungrateful ass!! Smh unbelievable 🤦
Lol!! True! I couldn't concentrate. Just like that Simpsons episode were Homer is breathing through his nose in Church and making noise!! Lol
Concentrate is how that’s spelled bud
😂😂😂😂😂

It did not show the main part where the helm are you lighting it back up ?
Thank you so much!!!!

I am following your instructions but no matter for how long i push the button down once i let go it shuts off
Thanks !!!
Is the actual furnace on whe you light the pilot
I didn’t realize u had to hold the pilot knob on the “L” and hold it there to warm it up. I always wonder why it would just stay on with I ignited it a turn it immediately to On
Thanks💯👍
Thank you.
Bro, I’ve sat here for almost 5 minutes with it on pilot and it never stayed on. What do?
I was just going to ask why the gum thanks for the help though
Thanks
I'm scared to do this 😫
Thanks Dad. I mean Jack. 🎉
Clearly the person filming never had to hold a flashlight while their dad was working on something.
Does the thermostat have to be on or off ? Thanks
What is my Thermostat supposed to be set to?
This video made me realize how much I hate people who chew gum with their mouth open
No one is making you watch, how about you just thank this kind man for caring enough to make a video to help your ungrateful ass!! Smh unbelievable 🤦
Question. What should I do. If I get everything lite. But it shuts off
