Well done! Congratulations! Superb film work authentically captured the end of the WHW! So many of your film clips were places I so clearly recall. Your thoughtfulness about your walk captured many of my own thoughts and reflections about the this trek. I found myself reliving some deep emotional moments with you. Sadly, we had to end our walk at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre due to two nagging injuries. So thrilled that you preserved to the very end! You earned it! I did not know that, like the Camino, there were passports and stamps and certificates! Oh well! Maybe we will do it again! Thanks for this. Sincere thankfulness for your efforts to creatively capture this journey.
So glad you enjoyed our adventure!
I did a fist pump and a YES! when you said you were going straight onto the Great Glen Way. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure.
Thanks for watching!
GGW coming out soon!
I’m in love with the beautiful views you captured…loved the personal reflections shared…. I think you two have shared some amazing insight and joy. ❤
I did this trek in 1990 as a 16 year old. I love Scotland and watching reminded me of that journey. Loved your video's
Just watched your WHW videos over the Christmas break. Enjoyed it and brought back memories from 15+ years ago when I did the trek. Envious of your weather on the last day to Fort William as I had torrential rain that day. Rannoch moor and Glencoe were the best parts for me. The Kingshouse hotel did look very different but I was camping next to it!
Happy holidays!
Nothing beats plonking yourself down and admiring the view with a lovely cup of tea - the best. Great job Vanhalla, it was a tough work out.
Thanks for watching!
Great set of videos and I’m glad Scotland is not over yet! Well done and carry on! 🥾🥾
Thanks 👍
Congratulations !!! We are all proud of you ! I am so glad you are going on !! It was wonderful to be able to follow you two. Thank you ! 👍👍💕🌷
Thank you so much!!
Planning to walk this trek next year to celebrate my 80 birthday and I am debating to go either in September or May…..hopefully without midgets. Loved your videos
Thanks for watching!
This series was filmed in May and we had the most incredible weather!
Waking the West Highland Way at the moment and September is a great month to do it in. We’ve had perfect weather for hiking and only a few midgies!
Hi guys...I loved your West Highland Way Adventure and the quality of you videos are fantastic! And thank you for showing off my country in such a positive light!
Yay glad you enjoyed the videos!
We ❤️ 🏴
You two are the best advert for Scotland 👍🏴🇺🇸
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Fun to finally watch this series! Congrats to both of you on finishing strong.
Thank you!
Well done beautiful people, thanks for sharing ❤
Thanks for watching!
Just want too say what amazing videoes yous have made of the WHW... ❤I'm from glasgow Scotland and have watched a lot of WHW videos but yours is definetley the best... I love the way you let people know the price of everything!!... And it was great to see yous doing it over 10 days... Most people were rushing too 4 or 5 days....yours is the CLASSIEST video I've seen... Ive just binged the whole WHW series yous made...love from glasgow.... Ive just subscribed and look forward to more videos😊..🎉x🎉🎉
Beautiful Scotland!! So grateful to you both for taking us along.
Congratulations! 🎉 seeing the growth in Brian was wonderful. His insights at the end were so spot on! Happy Trails as you continue on your way! ❤️🙏🏻
Thank you 🙏🏻
Thanks so much
Well done you two! My partner and myself climbed Ben Nevis for charity. Guide dogs for the Blind. Many years ago. Me in my late forties. There is a place to stay near the bottom of the mountain. And in the evening we were having our supper and watched the Fell Runners coming down Ben Nevis. They have lights on their heads to see where they are going, it was really magical. 🙏
A great watch, can’t wait to see more of the two of you and your journey 😍
Thanks so much! 😊
Love your videos and congrats on completing the WHW. Me and a friend walked it this year starting on Apr 27 and ended on May 4 BUT I stopped at the end of day 5 due to a blister on the pad of my foot, and I was going to Edinburgh and London for 10 days with my husband and had to be able to walk. Felt it about 1 km from Kingshouse and it was raining a lot on our walk so I pushed through. Took a taxi to Kinlochleven and the bus to Fort William. We had a lot of rain...it is what it is. I wish everyone well on their trek along the WHW. Some of the most breathtaking scenery, even in the rain 🌧 😊🇨🇦
Oh bummer . Sorry about your blisters and bad weather. The weather is so unpredictable in Scotland.
Congratulations! You had such a great last day! I loved that day so much. The beginning uphill was tough and that long descent into Fort William on the gravel track really made us crabby, but it was so worth it! I love seeing the places I remember in your video. You are so right about there not being much shelter to use the bathroom on this section. I found a place that was sheltered from anyone coming northbound, but just as I was about to drop my pants, EIGHT guys came down the trail from the north! I just smiled and nodded and waited for them to pass by. That's trail life! Thank you for sharing this beautiful journey. Can't wait for your videos about the Great Glen Way!
Thanks for watching! We are looking forward to the GGW video!
I never knew that the official end sign was there. I was literally the other side of the grass verge, in the car park where me and a friend took a photo of ourselves next to our motorbikes! Crazy! Great videos and looking forward to watching the next part. I was told about the Hebridean Way this week, looks amazing!
Thank you both. I have enjoyed your WHW immensely bringing back so many memories of ours. So many places you stood and admired the incredible beauty that surrounds you were like a mirror image of our stops. And also our thoughts. I’m looking forward to your exploits on the GGW.💜
Glad you enjoyed it!
Now for your next challenge. There are in total 282 Munros across Scotland. Have fun. 👍
Challenge accepted
Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us ❤
Aw thank you Stephanni! We are so excited about the next few videos as the Great Glen Way really took us by surprise AND we also have an Iceland vlog coming up soon too!
Another beautifully designed and delivered film. Like the Camino series, there is cinematic grandeur, honest depiction of the trek experience, humor, affection, and philosophy. A dark dreary November weekend led me to binge the entire West Highland Way. Going for a walk along the river and then I will begin your Great Glen series.
This was so beautiful and inspiring! That was a beautiful hike and so much lush scenery to look at.This is a really wonderful work.Thank you so much for sharing you guys adventure.😁😁👍👍👍👍🐶🐶💖💖
Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures
Thanks Dan! Glad you enjoyed them!
Love, love, love watching your adventures! Also the tips you give. They are helpful as I get ready for the Camino. Now I want to do this in Scotland! Thank you & many blessings to you both!
Have fun!
A nice view of the WH way , I have had many friends and family from 40 to 75 who have done the walk. In fact, my brother was one of the runners about 10 years ago a very organized ultra marathon run this has helped me appreciate it more.
Oh wow! Very cool! We saw a few runners and some of them finished in under 3 days!!! I am amazed at their endurance. Well done to your brother!
Quick tip, I often left early morning to get ahead of the traffic on the trail. Last week between Kinlochleven and Fort William I left at 6am and didn’t see anyone until I arrived in Glen Nevis. Certainly made the last day even more impressive
Thanks for this. Lovely photography. I lived in Kinlochleven for a few years and left my heart there. Wonderful wildlife and views in a lovely area. You get used to the midges BTW. So glad you so enjoyed the walk.
Kinlochleven nice town! Not sure if we will ever get used to midges….lol
Thanks for watching!
Lovely video loved your insights and the things that you shared. And your joy pushing yourself past limit she thought you had. God made a beautiful world. And I'm glad I got to see this part with you. Blessings
Thank you so much!
Skipped to your end video to see if you and your Dad made it, and how long it took 😅
Congratulations you guys! You did it!!! Thank you for sharing your journey. I would love to go to Scotland one day. - from another Brian
Thank you and thanks for watching!
A great series from Vanhalla.....some beautiful country visited this time also.
I see you still have feet issues, but notice you never seem to use compression socks...I'm 76, walk all the time, up to 250kms/week and never have issues with these socks.
Well done to both of you. A great achievement. Your vid catalogue has been the best Ive watched and I look ofrward to your next adventure. Have you tried the Penine Way and the Southwest Coast path? These are epic walks as well.
Congratulations 🎉 whoop whoop! Looking forward to more of your adventures.
B you need to do the Camino de Santiago now, what d’you say Crystal 😉😂👍The Devils staircase reminded me of the trail up to Alto del Perdon. Well done guys 👏❤️💙
Well done guy’s. The videos were that good that my feet nearly came out in blisters as I watched from the comfort of my recliner and dipping my shortbread into my cups of tea. Lol. This is why I enjoy TH-cam? I get to enjoy Bonnie Scotland from my armchair and not one midge bite? Lol. Looking forward to the “Great Glen”. PS…don’t forget the “smidge”.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed your videos of the WHW. I am actually leaving in 2 1/2 weeks to hike the WHW & GGW also. I will be wild camping the whole distance on both. I guess I will have to catch up on your GGW videos when I finish. Great job, and congratulations on completing the WHW.
Have fun!
Oh my god, you have been blessed with the weather on the last 2 stretches. No cloud on Ben Nevis, this is so rare. I think there are only 60 days a year without fog on top of Ben Nevis.
Did the WHW last year and I had much more rain so I didn't have these gorgeous views you could experience. Bit it was incredible too. Therefore I had much less midges. But maybe I have to do it again...
Btw. didn't you go to the new end of the WHW? There is a nice bench and a funny statue of a man sitting on this bench massaging his feet after the laong walk. I brought a small dram of an 18 year old whiskey at Glengoynes and carried it to that point and celebrated next to this guy with my whiskey. An anwesome way to end the trail.
I just got back from a 3 week roadtrip through Wales with my campervan. I can highly recommend the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path if you are looking for an absolutely beautiful long distance walk.
Looking forward to your next adventures. Happy hiking.
Best regards from Germany,
Reiner
Thanks for the recommendations!
Congratulations on completing both walks …. if you fancy something harder in Scotland , try the Cape Wrath Trail . Best Wishes.
Thanks for the tips! We will check it out.
SUGGESTED EPISODE: Please do a video on foot and footwear care. You share tidbits in your videos but an episode just about foot care would make it easier to save and find again. My feet were destroyed on the Camino and I worry about long-distance walking again because of that. Your experiences have made you experts and I think others could benefit from your wisdom. Thanks.
Great suggestion! WILL DO THIS FALL!
Well done! And thanks for the fantastic view and pleasent vibe 🙂
Come and check out the trails of Sweden sometime /San
Thank you! Will do!
The scenery on your last day looked amazing. I must say I think Brian took to long distance hiking so well by the end of the hike. Earlier on I thought he might bail on you 😂. Loved watching your videos. Glad your doing more.
Thanks for the kind words. I think I did pretty good! Looking forward to the next one!
10:15 Made my whole entire day.
Hi guys, just had to say thankyou, for reminding me of how lucky I am living in this glorious country of Scotland, where I call home.
You know when you have something on your doorstep but never appreciate it enough.
Well that we me; I forgot how lucky I am.
Watched all your episodes and I have to say you got some fantastic weather.
I must admit, its not like that all the time.
The midges this year have been worst than usual so you did well to survive them.
Hope you enjoyed the Great Glen trail as much, can't wait to see your journey.
I feel the words of poet Robert Burns
"Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands forever I love"
ring true for you both, now that you've experienced it.
Thank you so much! Stay tuned for Great Glen Way video coming out in a couple weeks!
There is a west highland way race, think the record for running it is about 14 hours
We heard about that. That’s crazy!
But very impressive!
That's a shame no food!! Easy to forget though hustle for good dinner. As I continue to watch..that would be tragic for me no food..how much water do you carry?
We each carry 3 liters of water in our backpacks. Luckily Crystal and I had a few snack bars in our bags to keep us going.!
Thank you for something I will never see IRL
Well done on completing the WHW 💚
Thank you!
Amazing views! Congratulations on finishing, but did you make it to the massage?
Yes we did and it was very rewarding!
Great series! I saw you both at DTW on 8/11. I would have said hello but I just arrived home from Australia (30hours of traveling with delays) and you seemed to be rushing to a gate.
Anyways…love your channel and watching your adventures
Oh wow crazy! Yeah we had a tight connection at DTW a couple weeks ago.
Glad you enjoyed the series!
Stay tuned for The Great Glen Way and Iceland!
well done great film..can i ask were do you get your music from its very epic ..i like it
Thank you!
We use epidemicsound.com
You actually inspired me to take a trek during my trip to Scotland. thanks! It looksl ike you planned and picked each place yourself, were the luggage transfers easy to set up? I do not want to use a tour company. As for the midges, people wore fabric wrapped around their face, lace even.
Aw I am so happy you are going to Scotland - it is such an amazing country :) The luggage transfer was VERY easy to set-up. Just put in your scheduled stays and voila! They will pick up and drop off each day for you. You just need to have your days scheduled ahead of time. Because it is quite a busy trail I would do this as far in advance as possible or you might not be within the budget or needs you have in terms of lodging. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
That was awesome. We start in 3 weeks. What app did you use for navigation? I’ve got several options but I liked how yours had elevation as well. Thanks
We found AllTrails worked well - no issues! www.alltrails.com/invite/5NCBTP
One of downloaded the entire trail and the other did each day separate. That way we could look at both stats when we were done. Have a great walk!
I've watched your journey guys. Love you both. And hey. Ain't bonnie Scotland great. Lived there for 21 years. Great weather for you on day 10. Why not climb Ben Nevis as it's at the end of this route. It's not that hard. Lots love.
I’m pretty sure one day we will ascent Ben Nevis! How’s the weather in that area in mid-November?
Hopefully you do it one day. I'd probably avoid it in November? I did it in April 2005 and it was 2ft snow after 2000ft. Luckily we had GPS to navigate to the top. I didn't want to fall off the north face. Haha. Are you still in bonnie Scotland?
Have you tried barefoot walking - striking on the lateral (outside) mid foot rather than the heal. It takes practice, but is more protective of the feet, knees, and hips than heal striking. Lots of info on TH-cam. I use Vivo barefoot shoes and walking boots.
I have to say. My biggest problem with the trek was my heel pain. I guess I don’t realize or pay any attention to how much I am relying on my heel step rather than the outer sides.
That’s very interesting 🤔
Thanks for sharing!
Well, not the end, more the end of the first half! It’s not in your video but I guess you found the ‘aching feet’ finish point in the centre of town, yes? And Ben Nevis, clear again! I’d have taken a day extra to climb that, a proper conclusion to the WHW! When we did the last day we dropped off the Lairig path hiding our packs down by the stream and climbed Ben Na Caillich, the first big peak on the left as you head up the hanging valley. Now had we had our brains with us we’d have worked out that we could have gone along the ridge with our packs on and summited Nam Na Guillain before dropping down back into the valley where it swings right for Glen Nevis. But seeing as we dumped our packs…..sigh. Oh to be young, fit and daft again. Well maybe I’m still daft as I’ve since climbed Nam Na Guillain twice in snow!
We did The Great Glen Way separately to the WHW and did it north to south. Reason for that was that our B&B followed us along, a converted barge called Fingal. You might have seen her as you made your way along the GGW, or her sister barge Ros Cranna. Vividly painted, it’s not like you’d miss them!
I didn't see it mentioned in your videos or summaries anywhere, so I must ask, what app are you using to track your walk?
We were using All Trails
What day is this final day, so I know not to gone then!
This video is the final day of our West Highland Way trek.
Is there a reason why you finished your hike 260m before the official end of the WHW? Or did you just cut those scenes from your video?
We stopped at the original end first.
Then we walked to get our stamp on High St and walked past the sore feet statue. Our hotel was next to the statue.
What is the app that you were using for the gps?
All Trails
The link you posted to the Scottish guys channel about the simply stunning castles didn't work. Please post the name of his channel
Oh sorry about that!
