    Love your channel Claire!! You are one of the most genuine plant channel creators I’ve watched, always stayed true to who you are and have even opened up more over the years. Your passion for plants fueled mine and I’ve built up a nice collection now, I hope that someday, I will be able to replicate the level of care and commitment even to dying plants that you have!! Send you lots of love from across the pond!

    I love this type of video! Having you doing some plant care in one tab and doing some less joyfull organizing in a second tab next to it, is jsut the perfect amount of input to keep the balance between focus and relaxing. I really like the way you talk with the audience. It feels a bit like hanging out with a friend while getting each their work done. The sidetracking with all the tasks back and forth with that kinda flow is very relatable. That is just like I do my plant care too 😄

    Hey Claire I want to share this with you.
    My Alocasia Cuprea was dying back. I decided to put a leaf in water to enjoy it's beauty a little longer.
    It was in water for a month+. One day I decided to check it. I pulled it out, it had roots but to my surprise a new little leaf was just forming! First I put it in stratum but that didn't feel quite right so it is now in spagnum. The new stem is about 4 inches tall and the leaf is maybe two and a half +!
    It is so exciting!
    Wish I could show you pictures of it 😊

    I've been using semi hydro for years but with experience comes wisdom and I have come to realise that it's ok to have both soil and semi hydro as they both have different benefits, some plants just don't do as well in semi, and after 100 plants in semi hydro, flushing or giving them ph balanced nutrient solution every watering becomes quite a faff...

    Thanks Claire , your love for plants is contagious! I’m not doing very well with planting in pon, maybe you need a bit more experience to be able to use it. I might try again in the future. X ❤️🌱🪴❤️

    • @meredithdavis5167
      @meredithdavis5167 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know if this might help but I'll share in case... I was having trouble with Pon until I started putting plants in water first. I let them grow roots that were used to water (often called water roots - but they're all just roots.) When the new roots were over an inch long and/or have secondary roots, then I moved them to Pon and continue to enjoy the ease of self-watering and far fewer fungus gnats! 💚 Wish me luck as I'm doing this process with a good sized Monstera at the moment!

    Love your videos. Thx for all the plant knowledge you share with us.
    I was resently told by a friend, a biologist, that spagnum moss comes from the wet lands, and when kept there, it stores a lot of CO2 - I guess in many ways, it has some of the same envioremental effects, as the rain forest. Just to share, that we all should be mindfull, with the moss.
    Lots of plant love, from Denmark

    Nowadays I put almost everything in leca/ pon just because I don't have to dilute my fertilizer with different dosages/ use different fertilizer. And because I keep almost everything in clear cups/ glass which makes water level monitoring easy. It's also cleaner than soil, picking up a few pieces of leca instead of getting the vacuum cleaner, when I inevitably knock over a plant. Semi Hydro has improved my plant care so much!
    And a big game changer for me was learning to make my own macramee hangers. They are quick to make after a bit of practice and you can obviously customize them to your needs and it's cheap! Made myself a 3 tiered one for my ferns and a 4 tiered one for my small plants! They also make amazing gifts!

    I can relate so much with what you said about your shop! Fellow ADHD’er here. I do craft shows and crochet and sew. I started an Etsy during lockdown since shows weren’t happening and I was the same about packing orders. Took less than 5 minutes but it was so tedious I would procrastinate to the last minute 😂 I put mine on vacation mode which was supposed to be temporary and that was over a year ago. But I think I’ve decided to just focus on craft shows instead.

    24:41 just a little opinion that people have on layering lecas for pots (or a jar in this case) without drainage hole: it is not recommended since you can get mucky sludgy water residues mold and bacteria that gets trapped under a layer of soil..
    You can also use leca in soil to add aeration as you would perlite!

  • @AnnisGarden
    @AnnisGarden 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Maybe you answered it already in another video, but why don't you install a grow-light in your bathroom? This way you could use your bathroom as a rehab / quarantine zone, without risking your plants to be forgotten 😉 and on top you have some green in there to enjoy.
    Love your content, i could listen to you all day 🥰

    Thank you so much for keeping me company as I cared for the 40-some plants my app thought needed attention and some others who needed a bit of TLC. I adore these videos as I spend a lot of time walking my plants back and forth to my kitchen sink. I drain them for longer than you do and prop them at an angle to ensure I'm not leaving too much moisture in the pot. Thank the gods for clear nursery pots, Pon, chunky soil, and YOU! 💚 P.S. I'm thrilled that you're still feeling good after the plant show. Usually, I would need a few days to recover especially if I presented! P.P.S. Hope you're having a blast at Comic-Con! She was the best dog ever but my husband called her a “garbage scow” cuz she could and did eat absolutely anything, usually in large quantities and rarely batted an eye. If I had to pick one product to keep for plants? It would definitely have to be a fertilizer. All plants need food!!! I am currently using a product by Thrive - For all plants & ferns. You can always keep pest at bay by using a strong spray of water on leaves or putting them outdoors.
