Lake Michigan got it right. When he had finished this medley, the audience was on it's feet, and wouldn't stop applauding & whooping for some 15 minutes. As TV was live back then, it shook up the producers because they had no plan for this, and there were other guest artists waiting to appear on the show. Say what you will about his private life, this cat had it in spades, and everyone there knew they were witnessing history. No one could touch him in his musical genre, and no one ever will. .. Thanks for the memories Frank.
This segment comes from one of the 4 shows he did for Timex in 1959 & 1960. This one featured Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, & Mitzi Gaynor. You don't hear it here but the audience didn't want to stop clapping, whooping, and hollaring after this three song set. They recognized, as anyone who sees it now will, they'd just witnessed something extraordinary. Frank is at his near professional peak at this time and these performance reflect that stratospheric capability. All three performances, all so different, are all as good as singing gets. Sinatra's still #1 by at least a mile & an eighth.
You can say any language,,, it's actually true!!!! Remember,, virtually EVERY male nightclub singer followed in Frank's footsteps, they didn't lead! Sinatra had the ~perfect voice~ every single American male singer is in effect, truly,, a partial copy of the Chairman Of The Board!!! Fact~!~ Not opinion here~!~
I treasure the whole Timex Show from which this segment was taken. Had it in VHS and now in DVD. 1-derful combination of artists, songs, dances, humor, camaraderie between them. This "nightclub" section by Sinatra is priceless. Nothing now compares to this.
Sinatra was so comfortable performing as a saloon singer !!! I was watching Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin in Beyond The Sea (2004) today; in a scene Darin narrates that as a consequence of the 'British invasion' in the 60s night clubs were replaced by concerts in big venues (such as baseball stadiums), so his stage virtually disappeared. The same applied to Sinatra.
Is there a chance that you can share those clips - those that have not been shared on youtube - yet? It's wonderful that his work is preserved until now.
notice the distance that sings from the microphone. envy of all They realize that a decent mic is enough, today they sing with neuwman, disguised as common mic, the singer does not do the microphones ,,,,
Swag Central!! Being able to experience this LUMINOUS performance by Sinatra and the musicians is one huge reason I love TH-cam! Thank you, vintage video clips! :-)
That is why Sinatra is unique, what talent, what voice and what life gave to the songs, there are voices it is true, but there is only one Sinatra, and all that talent is worked hard, makes it seem natural, the confusing ease of magicians , what seems natural are hours of work, great actor and singer, rest in peace frank,
This was Paris or London and showing how his voice was wine matured or as bill miller quoted going into the sixties it took on a mature timber as his sixties recordings displayed a lush deep mahogany❤ Terry c
According to daughter Nancy, Frank used the cigarette as a prop for theatrical effect and almost never inhaled. He is the one who gave Sammy the nickname 'Smokey'.
@@luishumbertovega3900 I saw in one clip, Dean turned to Frank and said, "Don't you ever inhale?" I think Frank drew up the smoke in his mouth, then let it out in a cloud... but not always.
A few days ago some posted they did not like F.S., that's ok, but if you don't know anything about him you should be quiet n learn what he was about 😉🇺🇲🇮🇹n a true AMERICAN!!!

being up there and performing like that. plus the emotion. his transition between the first and second number is like gravy. i mean the emotional transition. guy really knew what it felt like to be down. god bless sinatra, lots to learn from this guy. also lol did he have like a row of lit cigs on the piano waiting for his angel eyes act? gotta love the details to a performance

Singing is acting. When Sinatra portrayed vulnerability he was as great as any pop/jazz singer--as he is here in "Angel Eyes": Later on, when he succumbed to pathological egotism is was unable to project the vulnerability that made him able to transcend his medium--and made him great!
He will be known as the best forever and ever…I thank goodness for records and videos, he will live forever ❤️❤️🩹
Frank is the best singer the all times

Frank and Ella were and always will be the best singers of the Great American songbook.
I really think Andy Williams in his prime deserves to be up there. Don’t forget Sammy!

Sinatra, Bennett were the favorites of yesterday & continue today, & forever for pop culture..Tony Ridio
Frank had some good moves up there on stage
😅
Sinatra at his peak as a singer in the 50s. The best singer I've ever heard in English.

@@franksonatra Sorry my friend, I have no more of this show besides what's presented here, I wish I had.
No words, just... Thank you Frank .
A master class in Singing

The best rendition of this song; he tears it up!

Frank Sinatra will always be the pied piper who took the great American songwriters of the 20's 30's and 40's to heaven. Sinatra is God!
Sinatra was all of 5 yrs old in the 20's and still too young in the 30's ,but he was coming for sure...He was born in 1915 btw!
Frank Sinatra was the greatest crooner that ever exist !!! Every song he did and interpreted became our lifetime favorited !!!
He’s a true legend !!!!
Frank doesn't consider himself a crooner but a singer
This is from the 1959-10-19 Episode of The Frank Sinatra Show
There are great singers.
Then there's Frank. Nobody came even remotely close to matching him at the
very peak of his sublime powers, in the 1950s.
Great video! Thanks for posting, Sinatra will always rules!
I will always love Sinatra he was a class act, the BEST.
Angela Santiago Sinatra was the greatest
without doubt
i love frank man his singing makes me cry every time he sings an emotional song. big fan!
Magnificent upload!!! Ty, 🙏🏾
THE Voice!
Prime Frank....THE Best....
He was just one of those special things
Magic!
Brilliant!!
The only singer that can undress a song on stage and not get arrested for it.
Angel eyes - this song was always sung with a cigarette on hand. This time, frank coughs. Still, fantastic thou!
They say "accept no substitutes." With this guy, you don't even get a chance.

Ele está sendo acompanhado aqui pelo fantástico pianista Bill Miller, que foi por mais de 40 anos, seu pianista exclusivo.
Classic Sinatra, very best
It’s amazing that he didn’t suffer from smoking, as did Sammy Davis, Jr.
According to daughter Nancy, Frank used the cigarette as a prop for theatrical effect and almost never inhaled. He is the one who gave Sammy the nickname 'Smokey'.

Exactly. Watch closely. He doesn’t inhale. Sammy did unfortunately.
You folks are exactly right. Sammy really smoked. Sinatra used it as a prop.

There's Elvis, then there was Sinatra, both loved music!...
Sad to see that Red Norvo is not part of this date. He could get Frank into a solid groove.
Anyone know the line up of the band, Al Viola on guitar ?
Smoking was so socially accepted then.
Disappear I can’t Sinatra
