Having lived through the 60's and 70's it was interesting to see old Russian equipment was not too different from old American equipment. That food certainly looked good, I was surprised to see so many large pictures in the food menu - that is a good idea! For a channel about Real Russia, this video was right on topic - good job!
We had Poor Man's dumplings the last night for dinner. Dumplings filled with four cheeses and covered with Garlic Cheeses sauce and shredded chicken. Sometimes we top with small steamed Broccoli florets. They sure did not taste like Poor Man's Dumplings. Loved the video and the hospitality of the restaurant. Makes me want to bring my family from Florida to visit. Only two of us have seen snow, so I do not think it would be good to come in winter. Maybe in early fall when leaves are starting to change color. From Florida, Real Russia Really Rocks 😎👍
It is a nice tradition showing respect to the victims and heroes of the siege. Thanks for giving us knowledge of Real Russia. You do give an intimate perspective not found elsewhere in the true tradition of your channel. Thanks so much, Friend.
My point was that is not a healthy meal. Neither are hamburgers healthy to eat, but at least we put green vegetables on them and eat real green salads, green beans, avocados and carrots at meals. Yes, there are a lot of thin people in Russia, but in Russia, after age 50 they dont usually exercise and eat to many starchy foods so the women get fat.
My girlfriend lives in central Russia I have a really enjoyed watching all of your videos my girlfriend is coming to visit Chicago and then we are planning to go back to to Russia and enjoy going going to some of the the places I definitely want to go to this restaurant
I feel so at home with all the rotary phones, vinyls, and record players, ha, ha!! A trip back into my past. Thanks for a great tour! The food looks so delicious. I wish I had known about these when I visited St Petersburg. Oh well, have to make another trip soon.
Bravo! Sergey. Enjoyed you tour de Menu, St. Petersburg. I live in St. Petersburg, Florida. Food looks delicious and hardy. Great for 30 below weather. The restaurant was very quaint in preserving the past. Before retiring, I lived in 40 below Minnesota.
This is genius! This is great for people who are curious what other countries are like because either they will never be able to go and these videos are the closest they will get or it lets one see if they want to visit. The food looked great. I just ran into this video cuz I couldn't sleep and it's real late but I see you made other videos, so, yep...here I go...
I absolutely love this guy's awesome videos. Russian food looks soooooo good, I'm getting super hungry watching this. Some of it reminds me of tasty tasty tasty Italian and German foods. Hello from Silicon Valley/California...
nostalgia is in the heart. always to reminded. every era has it,s own special features. looks cosy, and inviting and feels like home. it looks all delicious. and you have a good time absorbing it. bon appetit.
I'm an American and I have had several Russians invite me to dinner on different occasions. I never had such delicious, fresh food in my life. One served cabbage rolls, and another served those dumplings with meat and onion inside. Delicious! Thank you for this interesting video. That city looks beautiful.
You are killing me - it was so amusing to watch your video! Thanks for sharing! Compot we call oshav, but we keep and eat the boiled dried fruits as well. Mmm I love it in the winter.
I like your videos very much. I've always wanted to go to Russia but I know I never will , so I get to see it by watching you. Thanks so very much Perry from Texas USA .

Really cool of you to order so many dishes to show us more authentic cuisine. So many dishes can’t be cheap but it shows us your dedication to this channel and your viewers by showcasing all the dishes. Thank you 🙏:)
Man, thanks for this. I have always wondered about going to a restaurant in Russia. Now, all I have to do is save up for a trip & then convince my wife that we should check this out.
I love this video! It reminds me of the wonderful times I had in 1990 and 1991, staying with my friends in Moscow and Leningrad (as it was at that time). Russian cooking is delicious! My favorite thing about it is the great variety of delicious soups, and my favorite soup is svekolnik. Another thing I liked was all the dishes made with wild mushrooms that we picked in the forest. That's not very common in the US, so it was a real treat for me!
That was from my childhood of the 60's. When I was a child we lived in old French building in Beirut and the land lines was one line so sometimes I would pickup the phone and I could hear conversations with some people in the building. But besides my family there was only one other couple that were american; everyone else was Lebanese so I couldn't understand them to eavesdrop. Sorry I don't know why that came to my mind, lol. Anyway love this channel and video. The restaurant is so cozy/vintage and the food looks so delicious and comforting.
Or you’re from the upper Peninsula of Michigan, which was still on the rotary system in the mid to late 90s. It’s been a while since I live there, but I would not be shocked that it still was.....
Sergey, I hope you did not really have to eat all that and could take some to go. Thank you for showing another wonderful restaurant in Russia. All the restaurants that are not chains there are so atmospheric. It is a real treat because one gets to have a real experience as opposed to just eating. All the restaurants seem so classy (not in the high society sense, but the atmospheric sense) and clean. Our restaurants her in the states are boring and just copy each other and don't really care. I like seeing and learning a bit about Russian history. I love that they had the old vinyl records. I wish I had a Russian vinyl record in my collection. I have some Russian music on vinyl, but made in the states, that is not the same thing. I'd love to get something from Russia period just to have. Of course, the best thing of all I already have: My very dear friend Marta in Russia and some Russian vloggers such as you, Valeria at Different Russia and now Tanya at Russki as acquaintances. There is nothing better than having international friends.
I worked at a Polish restaurant and it was an amazing atmosphere. everything was clean and there were amazing displays showing off the culture, I wish more American restaurants were like that place😭
Sergey, I want to say, as an American, I loved my time in St Petersburg. I spent 4 months in the, Center, and enjoyed every minute of it. I have been there 5 times. It brings back some memories watching your videos walking around the streets. Thanks very much for your time. I will come to visit St Petersburg again someday. Not usual to hear. Because already for 6 years here, loads of American people are coming here telling (NOT ALL OF THEM) Russia is worse and poorer in everything compared to the US.
@@diane9247 Haha, you know, that's actually true. In the 1950s and 60s, my mom took care of her five little brothers in rural southern China. She was between 10-20 years old at the time. So thanks for eating your bread crust! :)

Flabbergasted by all the ABBA. Being Swedish, it of course makes me proud, but did you guys really listen to ABBA in those days?
ABBA was extra popular those days. The Soviet recording studio "Melodia" pressed their vinyls here.

@YegorsTV Was western popular music allowed in Soviet Russia?
